To think my baby is giving me kisses?

KayTee87 · 02/03/2017 14:20

Ds is 7 months and just recently has started grabbing my face and smooshing his open mouth anywhere he can get it on my face basically. At first I thought he was hungry but he does it nearly every time I'm giving him a cuddle. Am I mad to think he's giving me kisses? I kiss him a lot so he could have picked it up I suppose. When did your babies start giving you baby kisses?

. I love the way they do that.
I could eat them up all up. Squeeeeeeeeeeee

deliverdaniel · 02/03/2017 17:07

ohhhhh. My elder DS did this as a baby. So utterly lovely

KayTee87 · 02/03/2017 17:15

Could just smoosh him all day, he's so yummy Grin

Just had a big gummy kissy smoosh on the cheek! (Still think it's teething Grin)

KayTee87 · 02/03/2017 18:00

Oh I'd forgotten all about this. DD used to do this around 8 months when I picked her up after work and was excited to see me. I'd just gone back to work full time and was really struggling, it was just the absolute loveliest thing. She used to smooshily kiss my chin!!

I'm going back to work when he turns one and have been so worried about losing some of our closeness but this has made me feel better Smile

Oh I miss this so much.
Blub.
When they look up at you while they're feeding and they give you a big bright eyed grin.
I just get eye rolls and grunts now....

LittleLionMansMummy · 02/03/2017 18:19

Kay you won't lose any of the closeness. I went back to work more or less full time when ds was 9 months. He's now 6 and still loves his cuddles with mummy and still looks at me like I'm the most amazing person on earth. It gets punctuated now though with accusations of me being 'mean' or 'unfair' when he asks for something and I say no! Still, he regularly tells me I'm the 'best mummy I could ever wish for'. Smile

CigarsofthePharoahs · 02/03/2017 18:26

That's so sweet!
My youngest did something similar too and then he started saying 'mwah!' at the same time. So so sweet.
He's nearly 3 and I do still get kisses, but they're rather unpleasant at the moment as he's on week 4 of a very snotty cold. I'm thinking of designing a top with integrated tissues! Still love the kisses though.

Biscusting · 02/03/2017 18:30

Yes yes to the smooshy kisses! I think it's personality thing, some babies like a squish and others are too busy exploring the world.

Do you also get lovely strokes when feeding and also the weird kneeding of the boob, like a kitten, or is it just my odd ball babies!?

gaaahhhh · 02/03/2017 18:32

It is kisses!
DS is 1 now and has moved on to licking me. haha

KermitRuffinsTrumpet · 02/03/2017 19:13

Defo kisses! EnjoySmile

OhtoblazeswithElvira · 02/03/2017 19:16

Hahaha of course he's kissing you! How lovely Smile enjoy!

KermitRuffinsTrumpet · 02/03/2017 19:17

Oh yes boob kneading and strokes are wonderful. Plus the gazeing up into your eyes while feeding. Mine both used to giggle whilst breastfeeding too.. that's a skill... (my son still does actually and he's three now Grin)

Ifionlyknewthenwhatiknownow3 · 02/03/2017 19:38

Oh this is such a lovely thread

AlbusPercival · 02/03/2017 19:43

DS is 4 months old, I spend a good percentage of my day kissing him, so hope this will be him soon.

Current heart melting trick is to knead my breast and grin up at me while feeding.

LittleL232 · 02/03/2017 19:44

My one-year-old does this, and it's definitely a kiss. It makes my heart actually hurt. Earlier on today I was lying on my side and he crawled over and kissed me on the forehead. Ahh i die.

BingBongBingBong · 02/03/2017 20:02

Why don't I have a kissy koala baby?!

Applebite your DD sounds exactly like my son at that age. Only ever wanted affection on his terms, wasn't 'snuggly' and preferred to squirm and run away! Once he turned about 2 and a half he became much more affectionate and now he is 3 he will kiss and cuddle me, DH and baby DD all the time! So your DD will probably become more cuddly Smile

NutButterNutter · 02/03/2017 20:26

Ahhhhh he totally loves you like you love him!! And they ARE kisses

runs off to train 5 month old

0hCrepe · 02/03/2017 21:08

Dd 5 months keeps sucking enthusiastically on my chin and it makes me all gooey! I love seeing her big eyes looking up at me. Just love her so much.

Derlei · 02/03/2017 21:09

This is lovely! My DS is nearly 9 months and does the same, it's so cute! When I am trying to rock him to sleep for his nap, he gets his hand and strokes my lips, I kiss his hand and then he giggles, I keep doing it and he giggles every time, until I have to hold his arm down so that he can go to bloody sleep!
I'm also anxious about going to work, I have fears that I will come home and he won't remember who I am but I know I aibu and it will be fine

Good luck for when you go back to work OP

OverthinkingSpartacus · 02/03/2017 21:29

I have a photo of dd doing this to dh at about the same age, it's one of my fave photos.

She's 12 now and i just showed her the photo after reading this thread and she said I have to burn it because such a photo is "powerful" in the wrong hands and has a lot of blackmail potential against her, and that if I have any other evidence that she once kissed her parents I should destroy that too.

Maryann1975 · 02/03/2017 21:29

Does your ds go to a childminder? Do I look after him?

The baby I look after has just started doing this (but he is 8 months old, so not actually your baby). It is so cute, he also pats my back a bit when I cuddle him, which is something I also taught my own babies to do to me when they were tiny. So lovely.

Applebite · 02/03/2017 21:33

Ah thanks bingbang!! I really thought she'd held up her arms for a cuddle tonight but no... she was reaching out for a bit of DP's disgusting scotch egg Hmm

MusicToMyEars800 · 03/03/2017 00:45

one the most beautiful things on this planet, I really miss the baby days and all those kisses that left me covered in baby dribble Smile, I don't want anymore kids but I would happily look after lots of babies Grin

MusicToMyEars800 · 03/03/2017 00:47

you lot are making me broody for a baby, but they don't stay babies Sad they grow up too fast mine are 7 and nearly 5, it doesn't feel like it's been that long since I had them
