To think my baby is giving me kisses?

KayTee87 · 02/03/2017 14:20

Ds is 7 months and just recently has started grabbing my face and smooshing his open mouth anywhere he can get it on my face basically. At first I thought he was hungry but he does it nearly every time I'm giving him a cuddle. Am I mad to think he's giving me kisses? I kiss him a lot so he could have picked it up I suppose. When did your babies start giving you baby kisses?

I have envy. Our LO is approaching 2 and has never actually kissed me, even though I'm all over her like a bad rush. In fact this morning my request for a second hug was met with "no more hug".

Bad rash lol

haveacupoftea · 03/03/2017 07:35

Aw my nephew when he was this age used to give me big open mouthed kisses, we didnt realise thats what he was doing at first til he did it repeatedly, always on the lips, and threw himself against my chest which i presume was a hug!

I dont want to kiss him anymore as he is always covered in chocolate, wotsits and snot, and he doesnt want to kiss me because he has discovered walking which is much more fun Grin

perfectlybroken · 03/03/2017 13:10

Oh gosh this thread has made me want to leave work and go and cuddle my 3 year old and plead with him not to grow up! (he's still cuddly right now, and still does the loving gaze!).

thenewaveragebear1983 · 03/03/2017 13:24

Every time I wipe ds's face I give him a little kiss after. Yesterday he came at me with a baby wipe, smooshed it in my face and tried to kiss me. Ok, so the wipe was one I'd just used to clean his nose, and he head butted me rather than kissed, but it was so cute! He's 16 months

Starduke · 03/03/2017 14:59

DS1 used to do this very young - I'd totally forgotten, thank you for reminding me.

DS2 didn't kiss me until he was nearly 2 but is now making up for time. Before I went to work this morning he kissed me roughly 50 times then nuzzled me with his nose. Totally gorgeous

It is a fantastic feeling being so loved. after all the sleep deprivation

PastysPrincess · 03/03/2017 16:01

My little one grabs your face and brings you in for a kiss but he hasn't got the hang of pursing his lips. He curls them inwards over his teeth instead of outwards.

Athrawes · 03/03/2017 18:21

It lasts. Last week I went camping with my 6 (nearly 7) year old. In the dark his little hand reached out for mine, he whispered "I love you" and put my hand under his cheek to rest his head on.

OneOrgasmicBirthPlease · 03/03/2017 19:58

It does last. My nearly 6 year old DS is still gorgeously affectionate and confessed last night while we were cuddling in bed that he just loves me too much. He was a kissy koala baby and is now the world's greatest hugger.

Which makes up for 2 year old DD's aversion to prolonged cuddles. I love her just the same, and am now entirely used to constant rejection Wink.

Cellardoor23 · 03/03/2017 20:11

My DS started doing this at about 8 months. He does the same, open mouth smoosh. I love it, it's so cute. Before I used to ask for a kiss, now he does it off his own accord! He's just over 9 months now.

Saying that, he also likes to kiss himself in the mirror.

RhodaBorrocks · 03/03/2017 20:41

My DS first kissed me at 10 months. I'd been in hospital for days and he wasn't allowed to visit as I had an infection and was in isolation. I was worried he'd reject me, but my DM was holding him and I was gently saying hi when he launched himself at my face.

Kisses from him are quite rare now as he has ASD and we don't force him to do anything he's not comfortable with. But they're lovely when he does give them and he gives lovely hugs.

ItsNachoCheese · 03/03/2017 21:10

My 20 month old ds will randomly come up to me and give me kisses or if we are sitting on the couch turn and give me a kiss and say mwahh. Makes me melt

ohtheholidays · 03/03/2017 22:11

What a lovely thread OP,your DS sounds adorable.

MommaGee · 03/03/2017 22:20

Definitely kisses, enjoy it now before he starts putting his tongue in, but he only does it to me so I'm still special and just squeeze my lips closed and get extra slobber

Treysanatomy · 03/03/2017 22:27

This morning when I was feeding him he held his wee hand against my cheek and stared at me the whole time. Maybe he loves me as much as I love him

This is possibly the sweetest thing I've ever read on the internet ❤️

trebleclef101 · 03/03/2017 22:44

Love this thread! When I ask my 19mo DD for a kiss she leans in and says mwah, but much better are the open mouthed slobbery kisses I don't ask for Smile Love her to bits!

MommaGee · 03/03/2017 23:48

I know people will disapprove but I know he loves me call I always get given the spare dummy to suck

LBOCS2 · 04/03/2017 08:32

My 10month old will happily toddle about on her own, but occasionally comes to find me to give me a cuddle by pulling herself up on me, then resting her cheek against mine and hanging on tight. It's lovely 😊

Flambola · 04/03/2017 08:46

Aww yes, my 16 month old DD is gorgeously affectionate, I love it. Except when she's snotty- poo, wee and vomit I can cope with but I have a terrible aversion to snot! Grin

CesareBorgiasUnicornMask · 04/03/2017 10:04

Definitely baby kisses! Awww I miss those. Now DS is 2 I get lots of proper kisses which are gorgeous, but also the occasional full on snotty snog with tongue and hands clamped like a vice round the back of my head so I can't escape. Particularly unpleasant when he's just taken a mouthful of something, which is often when he seems to feel the need to express how much he loves me.

Cousinit · 04/03/2017 10:36

My dd (8 months) does this too! I'm sure she's giving me a kiss. Lovely isn't it?

FeralBeryl · 04/03/2017 10:39

This morning when I was feeding him he held his wee hand against my cheek and stared at me the whole time. Maybe he loves me as much as I love him

I loved these times - agree with the poster about the temple hair clutch though. Oww.

I'm stuck with a 3 year old who grabs me in a headlock and literally growls 'I love you so so much' before releasing me and leaving the room.

Elledouble · 04/03/2017 10:46

Definitely kisses! My 22 month old is going through a very kissy, cuddly stage. They are a bit wet and toothy and he slips the tongue in sometimes but I love his kisses. I luffs him so much Smile

Patsy99 · 04/03/2017 10:54

DS2 used to do this at similar age.

For weeks I wondered why he was trying to lick me . . .

Joffmognum · 04/03/2017 11:03

I'm sceptical that babies feel exactly the same about their mums as we do about them, but I KNOW that I make my LO feel safe, and that my cuddles comfort him. He looks at me and smiles when he sees me. That's good enough for me.
