But my understanding is still if that not all cultures find breasts sexual
Can you post the link Rufus It's an interesting point and I'd like to read more but I don't think in isolation it signifies much.
I would be interested in how they defined "sexualised".
I can see that in Europe Norway, Iceland, Finland, Sweden, Germany and the Netherlands for example might have a much less uptight attitude to nudity generally and breast feeding but does that mean breasts have no sexual significance? I doubt it.
I think you also need to examine other correlations. Eg it might seem great that there is nothing sexy about breasts but if the pay off is fgm, breast ironing, adultery is a crime and a general lack of women's rights then Page 3 doesn't seem quite so awful.
There are other correlations to consider- what is attitude of societies which don't sexualise breasts to child marriage, polygamy and homosexuality? Perhaps they oppose the first 2 and are tolerant of the third and it's all just lovely ; Mali however has a ptetty terrible record on all 3. 98% of the adult population in 2013 did not consider homosexuality was acceptable and over 70% of Mali girls will be married by 18 with younger girls being 2nd or 3rd wives.
The researcher you quoted was heavily invested in promoting breast feeding. Mali probably scores well on ebf and extended bf at the expense of other rights.
