OK then, there is a riot on a train platform
the police cordon off the area and everyone who leaves is fined (no criminal record, just on the spot fines) for antisocial behaviour.

harpsichordcarrier · 02/03/2007 21:13

(actually, I once saw that happen at Reading - transport police yelling at a football crowd getting off a train - you're all nicked!)
no, airport searches are not a punishment.

oi I'll choose my own cliched soundtrack thank very much

Pann · 02/03/2007 21:16

ok.

EmmyLouArris · 02/03/2007 21:16

Wishing you the best of luck for tomorrow Booboobedoo, full moons often set off labour, how many children do you have ?

JustJAMtart · 02/03/2007 21:19

Honestly not being facetious, but are all those that think it is unreasonable teachers?

Pann · 02/03/2007 21:20

no, not a teacher but agree with greeny/harpsi - rubbish way of dealing with little ones and sets such a poor example to them.

Greensleeves · 02/03/2007 21:22

Yes EmmyLouArris, civilised debate is so dull. Lets bombard one another with common insults instead.

JustJAMtart · 02/03/2007 21:24

That's what I meant pann (all these reasonables and unreasonables) so those that think the OP is unreasonable at being upset are teachers (are they?) whilst I and most others think the OP is justified and it is reasonable

EmmyLouArris · 02/03/2007 21:27

I don't think I want my children to be "taught" that sort of value system, thanks.

Not to mention the fact that it's an outright whopper. Of course you have other choices. It's just lazy and unfair, and you know it, and so do the children.

Greensleeves to Booboobedoo

Some self-realisation on your part needed methinks

JustJAMtart · 02/03/2007 21:27

sorry greeny, I thought emmylou's post was well thought out and provided another dimension to the debate

Greensleeves · 02/03/2007 21:30

But that post is not abusive or obscene. Strongly worded, yes, but not abusive or obscene. And it was at least related to the subject being discussed. Whereas yours is just pointlessly insulting.

harpsichordcarrier · 02/03/2007 21:31

I am a teacher yes but sadly I can't take any house points off the people I teach to get them to shut the F up and heaven knows I would love to sometimes

Greensleeves · 02/03/2007 21:31

Not sure about self-realisation though, sounds a bit like American psychobabble to me. Cod psychology, IYKWIM

EmmyLouArris · 02/03/2007 21:31

Boring is insulting? No, just fair comment

JustJAMtart · 02/03/2007 21:33

emmylou please stop adding after an insult.

Tis like a pencil with no lead

Greensleeves · 02/03/2007 21:34

I think it qualifies as personal abuse because you said "you are boring" rather than criticising one of my points or contributing in any way to the debate. And misspelling profanities doesn't divest them of their potency

EmmyLouArris · 02/03/2007 21:34

Whereas lazy and unfair, very insulting and abusive

Greensleeves · 02/03/2007 21:35

But those adjectives in my post were directed at the practice which we are discussing, not at the poster in general. See the difference?

Oh sorry JustJAMtart, just copying Greensleeves

harpsichordcarrier · 02/03/2007 21:37

I think what I should do with my next class is this:
if there is any silly behaviour from any of them, then no-one will get a biscuit
that should be very motivating
