I don't even know who the woman in the pic IS?
Yes, if it was a man wearing loose shorts in that pose and sitting on the sofa behaving like a teenager whilst the other important guests stood looking bemused then I would be just as Hmm

GingerIvy · 01/03/2017 14:31

I didn't criticise her regarding that photo other than just now saying that to some extent, I think it was rather odd that she was so casual with that particular group of people, when she's always been shown as formal and precise with everyone else. It would be interesting to know if she's done that kind of thing previously and we've just not seen it, or if it's the first and only time. Something I'll be watching to see in future, anyway. Out of curiosity.

Lweji · 01/03/2017 14:32

It's Kellyanne Conway of alternative facts fame.

OP posts:
merrymouse · 01/03/2017 14:32

I think there were other pictures that show her with shoes on - she was just trying to get the right camera angle and then checking the picture.

I think there are plenty of reasons to criticise Conway, but sometimes you do need to get into an odd position to take a picture.

NotDavidTennant · 01/03/2017 14:33

Bannon wasn't seen sitting barefoot on the floor while dressed up dignitaries were standing up in full suits.

Well, first of all they're clearly lining up for a photo op and as far as I can see none of them are paying the slightest bit of attention to her.

Secondly, it only takes the slightest glance to see that she is not "snapping pictures on her phone". For all anyone knows she might have been conducting important business on her phone at that moment, but because she's silly airhead Patriot Barbie she must be taking a selfie or something, like all the silly blonde girlies do.

Again, if Bannon was holding his phone in that position would everyone assume he was "snapping pictures on his phone"?

Let's not become the thing that we're meant to be opposing.

Lweji · 01/03/2017 14:34

What photo was she trying to take, then?
She's not a photographer , even.
Very odd.

Did you see George Takei's tweets in response to the speech last night? Takei Trump Twitter

Lweji · 01/03/2017 14:35

It does look like she's tweeting or something, actually. But, does anyone sit like that during official visits in the Oval Office?
It's not her home office.

Not that I want to continue discussing her. She's peanuts and probably soon out of the WH.

Ha, cozie! My head was fine until I started watching the news this morning! But then again, that's no different than pretty much every morning since the election. Grin

Lies and conflation. Conflation and lies.

Now, this bit is serious. I wonder what effect this shit is having on people with mental health issues. My DS2 was diagnosed with PTSD and PTSD related anxiety in 2015. He's back to work and is doing really well. But DH and I have actually stopped watching the morning news until after he's left for work because we could see the effect Scrotus' lies and the bullshit was having on his mood. Admittedly DS2 has never been a 'morning person' but you could really see the anxiety on his face. He can't be the only one.

WorshipTheGourd · 01/03/2017 14:38

Oh, thanks Lweji
I expect there are more important things to get worked up about and maybe it was just an unfortunate 'snap' but if she is an 'alternative facts' type then I am not minded to give the benefit of the doubt! Grin

GingerIvy · 01/03/2017 14:38

There was actually a couple shots of the situation that I saw. In one, she is attempting to take a picture and is balanced leaning on the sofa a bit - it's clearly her taking a picture. But as obviously someone else is taking a picture of her at the time, it begs the question of why someone is taking a picture of her taking a picture. Grin People are odd.

I assume she is checking her picture in this pic and making sure it's okay so she doesn't have to take another one. I have no issues with her sitting on the sofa. My mother's voice in my head is screeching "Get your shoes off the sofa!!!" and "Put your knees together in that dress!!" It's certainly not a huge scandal, but in an official meeting, she could have perhaps sat properly on the sofa, I would have thought.

GingerIvy · 01/03/2017 14:39

But make no mistake, I would have thought that of ANY grown woman - not just Patriot Barbie.

Lweji · 01/03/2017 14:41

For a systematic review (of sorts) of the first few weeks of Trump's presidency:

I Gave Donald Trump A Chance, And Then He...

  1. Restarted the Keystone XL and Dakota Access Pipelines.
  1. Instituted a federal hiring freeze that blocked 2,000 vital, new positions at the VA, and indefinitely suspended Army childcare programs for vets.
  1. Approved a raid in Yemen that killed 30 people including at least 10 civilians, many of whom were women and children, as well as U.S. Navy Seal Ryan Owens.

...

  1. Made a statement for Holocaust Remembrance Day and never mentioned Jewish people.

  2. Fired acting Attorney General Sally Yates for saying the travel ban was unconstitutional. A few weeks later, the travel ban was ruled unconstitutional in federal court.

  3. Supported his newly-appointed Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ decision to rescind Obama-era efforts and build up the private prison system once again.

  4. Showed that he shakes people’s hands like a frustrated, socially-awkward baboon.

Summary:
Lied - 14x
Threatened -

Across, I'm usually low grade depressed (not bad enough to go to the doctor about, but it underpins my life most of the time) and I can tell you, Brexit AND Trump have badly affected my mood. I FB and to a lesser extent, tweet, my indignation/shock/horror/despair at the current situation. That helps, in a way, though sometimes it feels as if I'm pissing in the wind as I can't see a concrete way of our countries getting out of these messes intact.
All of which to say, I empathise Sad

New Trump travel order expected in coming days, Pence says reut.rs/2msT1mP

Frankly, I hope it's today. Get it over with - find out what we're dealing with - let ACLU file the multiple lawsuits that will bring it down yet again. They've gone on record so many times undermining the fact that it's "urgent to national security" that it's insane.

Goodness. They're just so incompetent.

No, Across. I doubt DS2 is alone.

Lweji · 01/03/2017 14:50

The DM shows the whole story.

She wasn't barefoot. She actually was digging her shoes into the sofa.

And taking that awkward photo. Not sure why from there and in that position. There was clearly another photographer, and taking better pictures of everyone than her. Just odd.

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4269892/Kellyanne-Conway-explains-Oval-Office-couch-photo.html

Then they show a series of photos of Obama speaking with his people with his feet on the desk. Because.
