Destinysdaughter I'd sign. they are supposed to be news stations that present facts.

cozietoesie · 01/03/2017 12:35

Destinys

I think MrsHoolies had it when she said

....I agree that it shows how low the bar is when a speech is deemed to be good because it contained complete sentences and didn't derail into a rant....

PausingFlatly · 01/03/2017 12:58

Yep, the speech is full of statements which are demonstrably untrue, and included attempts to demonise a group.

Yet it's deemed good, because it uses whole sentences.

cozietoesie · 01/03/2017 13:12

I suspect that the 'inner circle' have decided he needs more 'gravitas', needs to be a bit more 'Presidential'. Hence the hair changes and the complete sentences. Smile

Maybe they're channelling Reagan a little.

CycleOnTheLEFT · 01/03/2017 13:42

Tweet from 45 "THANK YOU!".
What?

Roussette · 01/03/2017 13:43

Interesting watching the news. Seeing the floor of the House as a whole. Republicans up on their feet clapping.

The Democrats sat silently not clapping, not moving

SanFranBear · 01/03/2017 13:45

This photo was shown on the BBC last night with a bit of discussion. Mainly how 'some' people (and I believe this is what the BBC thinks given the tone of this) think this shows a lack of respect for where she actually is, how it shows how comfortable she is in that office and how 'relaxed' the atmosphere is in Scrotus' administration.

I think it looks Shit! There is a huge number of important dignitaries meeting the president of the US and there's one of his key aides with her shoes off, legs tucked under snapping pictures on her phone.

FAKE news, LIES, fake lies. We need the Trump Oracle.
AcrossthePond55 · 01/03/2017 13:50

Dan Rather hit the nail right on the head. It still remains to be seen. And much will be seen when Scrotus presents his budget to Congress. That's when the real fight will begin and when we see who in Congress is willing to 'take up arms' and stand up for the majority of Americans. You know, that majority that didn't vote for Scrotus.

cozietoesie · 01/03/2017 14:04

I think it's always important to emphasise that it's a 'majority'. People might forget otherwise - and maybe feel isolated.

How's your head this morning, Across? Grin

Lweji · 01/03/2017 14:08

Kellyanne is an insult to women. WTF was she thinking in that photo?

OP posts:
WorshipTheGourd · 01/03/2017 14:13

Look at the faces of the men around her - the, ahem, 'larger' guy, the guy in the brown suit, the guy with the blue tie, the guy with grey tie just behind her - they just look so EMBARRASSED. I agree about WTF was she thinking, and lack of respect for office.

GingerIvy · 01/03/2017 14:15

There's already been open discussion from both Dems and GOP that his budget won't work and won't make it through Congress.

The speech last night told us two things:

  1. That he can read.
  1. That someone else wrote his speech who has a better command of the English language - although not much better command of facts.

It seemed like he wrote out the speech himself, handed it to the "finisher" who then rewrote it into English. It's very much like what we learned in computer programming classes though - "garbage in, garbage out."

GingerIvy · 01/03/2017 14:16

Worship I don't think it was a lack of respect for the office. I think it was a pointed lack of respect for the guests that were there. How coincidental is it that this group and only this group that she does this???

NotDavidTennant · 01/03/2017 14:18

Conway is an objectionable human being, but I'm starting to get a little uncomfortable with the extent she is being singled out for criticism over Trump's male aides.

If someone had taken a picture of Steve Bannon unawares in an awkward position would the media be commenting on it like this? I doubt it.

originalbiglymavis · 01/03/2017 14:18

I don't think it's either. The administration is a bloody circus. I'm surprised she didn't shuffle in wearing her Pjs with her hair in curlers.

GingerIvy · 01/03/2017 14:19

NDT Bannon always seems to be schlepping around, rather unkempt, so that's kind of an unfair comparison. Grin

Lweji · 01/03/2017 14:20

And much will be seen when Scrotus presents his budget to Congress. That's when the real fight will begin

And not even for the "majority of Americans", just so that the country doesn't go bankrupt.

I saw someone mention yesterday that Trump didn't think the US needed to pay any debt, and that his plan was probably to borrow and not pay. As per his various bankruptcies.
Not so easy, as at some point he wouldn't be able to borrow any more.
I hope Republicans aren't completely mad in that respect.

To an earlier pp:
Yes, he thinks that he can print money to cover the debt.

"People said I want to go and buy debt and default on debt, and I mean, these people are crazy. This is the United States government," Trump told CNN's Chris Cuomo on "New Day." "First of all, you never have to default because you print the money, I hate to tell you, OK?"

Genius.

Also,
""I understand debt better than probably anybody. I know how to deal with debt very well. I love debt -- but you know, debt is tricky and it's dangerous, and you have to be careful and you have to know what you're doing," Trump said."

Says the man who went bankrupt a million times (Trump's maths).

I'd just like to thank the pp who linked to the Kattarshians a thread or two ago for light relief. The kittens are very bonny and particularly playful just now.

NotDavidTennant · 01/03/2017 14:23

I think that proves my point.

cozietoesie · 01/03/2017 14:23

....you have to know what you're doing....

Oh Dear.

Lweji · 01/03/2017 14:24

Bannon wasn't seen sitting barefoot on the floor while dressed up dignitaries were standing up in full suits.
When he does, then I'll make sure to criticise him. :)

Hmm, his grasp of economics leaves rather a lot to be desired.

merrymouse · 01/03/2017 14:27

I agree NDT.

I think this is a bit in the category of Obama getting stick for how his children were dressed when he was pardoning the turkey.

I think she was just trying to take a photo.
