I note there is a huge conflict over the "use" of the Navy SEAL's wife. I felt she was a prop for him to garner praise over him "honoring" her whereas others felt he was right to do it. I felt it was awful, but then if I was her, I don't think I would have been comfortable doing that. Obviously she felt differently. It seemed very "theatrical" to me.

The Navy Seal's parents refused to go, didn't they?

"Looking at Carryn, the president joked that Ryan Owens would be very happy with the applause — the longest of the night — "because I think he just broke a record.""

Just wow. Because applause and public adulation is all that matters.

On the dead Navy Seal, I'm somewhat surprised he didn't say he was a loser for letting himself get killed, as he did to John McCain.

History will judge them, when it will be possible to evaluate the supposed intelligence they gathered.

Has Mattis gone on record about the outcome of the raid? Or do we only have the WH version?

OP posts:
GingerIvy · 01/03/2017 15:06

I posted an article at 1455 today about that Lweji.

GingerIvy · 01/03/2017 15:09

I suspect they'll be arguing about it for awhile.

cozietoesie · 01/03/2017 15:10

It's all back to pork barrel politics. 'Twas ever thus.

Lweji · 01/03/2017 15:11

I saw the link but hadn't read it. It still just says that Mattis told the WH about the raid. Not that he has made a public statement.
Considering how truthful the WH is, I wonder what Mattis really thinks. I think it's odd he hasn't personally clarified this.

@ASlavitt Also "preexisting condition coverage" and "young adults on parents plan" no longer guaranteed-left up to each state to decide

Pre-existing condition coverage loss is HUGELY bad!! I've been through that. If you have a condition like asthma, diabetes, etc, and you change insurance for any reason (lose your job that is linked to your insurance, move to another area and change jobs, your insurance company folds and you have to buy other coverage), the new company can refuse to cover ANY medical expenses (doctor appts, hospital stays, surgery, medication, A&E, anything!) for up to one year - so you'd end up paying for it yourself for the first year. That will literally bankrupt people.

cozietoesie · 01/03/2017 15:14

No you don't Lweji. Grin

'Clarification' is a risky business in the current administration. Wink

Lweji · 01/03/2017 15:18

Yes. It would be easy for him to come out and say: we got extremely important intel, even though it didn't go quite according to plan.
It's significant that he's quiet, IMO. I don't think he wants to lie or contradict the WH.

Lweji · 01/03/2017 15:22

Regarding their health "plan", many people are starting to realise what repeal means. And how bad any replacement can be. Let's just hope that GOP will be worried about the next election round.

cozietoesie · 01/03/2017 15:22

I think that they're already concerned.

GingerIvy · 01/03/2017 15:23

cozietoesie · 01/03/2017 15:24

cozietoesie · 01/03/2017 15:24

Sorry. Apart from the 'heartland' of course.

AcrossthePond55 · 01/03/2017 15:28

Ginger I was extremely uncomfortable with the use of Ryan Owens' widow to push Scrotus' agenda. I'm assuming she was there of her own volition, but then again you don't know what emotional blackmail or financial pressure may have been applied. He left three children, so Mrs Owens would be eligible for survivor's benefits. Taking advantage of someone still in shock and grieving is abhorrent plus who knows what may have been said to her about 'timeframes' for getting her benefits application approved, iyswim.

And yes, CPO Owens' parents refused to meet with Trump after the repatriation ceremony. I think it's also telling that they weren't present last night.

cozietoesie · 01/03/2017 15:35

You just need to remember that The President of the United States is just HUGE for many people, Across. The concept and not this particular man. To be asked might be something that some people would not be able to refuse.

Dumdedumdedum · 01/03/2017 15:43

But the man's a dickhead, cozie and I can't be the only one who firmly believes he is bringing both the Presidency and the country into disrepute.

Sorry to go back to it, but I posted that pic of KAC as I really don't think the oval office when it's full of dignitaries is really the place to be climbing on the furniture.

I know Obama used to put his feet on the desks. But he was the president which IMO makes a difference.

There's just something about that candid snap that implies a lack of respect. If any of his other aides or advisers had been caught like that with an office full of people, I would be just as scathing.

There a

cozietoesie · 01/03/2017 16:04

It's indicative of politics inside the Inner Circle, San. She's trying the 'Gee shucks, Daddy' ploy because the others haven't worked. (Sadly for her, the position is already taken.)
