To think, No, i don't have to let them try on my expensive shoes?

I have a collection of expensive shoes, Irregular choice, they're upward of £80 a pair and most of them are sparkly as i like the glitter.

Obviously kids tend to gravitate to the glitter, and as i have them on display in my house, when i have a couple of friends over, the little girls like to ask to look and try them on.

I always say no, but my friend told me i'm being a bit mean, because "they're only shoes."

AIBU to think that not toys and they aren't going to like it if their kid manages to damage them and i ask them to replace them if they get scuffed or scratched? ITs not like it can be polished out or hidden, it'd spoil the look of the shoe.

I don't even let my own 8yo put them on as she'd fall flat on her face.

Of course you should say no, you OWN them Hmm

Entitled fuckers.

2014newme · 24/02/2017 16:03

£80 is not expensive for shoes.
Having them on display is weird but some people are foot fetishism

BoyFromTheBigBadCity · 24/02/2017 16:03

Should op also buy a cheap smart phone, tablet, computer for kids to play with if they can't use hers? I mean, they're probably out and visible.

eurochick · 24/02/2017 16:05

TBH, the best thing you can do with Irregular Choice shoes is put them in the bin. They are basically dressing up shoes, so let the kids play.

OnHold · 24/02/2017 16:07

Smart phones don't have bambi for heels though.

unfortunateevents · 24/02/2017 16:07

Never heard of them, have just Googled. Dear Lord, every day a school day is all I can say!

Vegansnake · 24/02/2017 16:07

Your house yr rules,no you don't have to let entitled little darlings try them on,any more than you would let someone use yr makeup or wear yr clothes..it's rude to even ask...do people not teach manners any more?

tigerdriverII · 24/02/2017 16:09

Well, I don't know about Irregular Choice but I have these sort of on display. I don't wear heels any more for political reasons but I love these (Kronkrons) to look at.

OnHold · 24/02/2017 16:10

TBH of want to try the mad shoes on and I'm a grown up.

HeyRoly · 24/02/2017 16:10

A child has no right to play with your belongings like they're toys, be it shoes, handbags, jewellery or clothes.

My only question is how are they accessing it? I have yet to host a play date, but when I do, my bedroom will be off limits.

Crunchymum · 24/02/2017 16:10

You don't wear heels for political reasons? Confused

VeryBitchyRestingFace · 24/02/2017 16:11

I too have just googled them.

WTF have I just seen??? 😳

I'm not surprised now that OP has them in a glass case because who in their right mind would actually slip their feet into them??

ProudBadMum · 24/02/2017 16:11

They are called Irregular Choice for a reason. If you don't like them don't buy them.

I'd love a display cabinet for my converse

Oldraver · 24/02/2017 16:11

I dont have any IC shoes but have admired them...I would swoon at your cabinet. I do understand keeping shoes nice..mine are usually boxed up and kept in order.

Visiting DC's have to learn they cant have everything they want

Lugeeta · 24/02/2017 16:12

I had never heard of them until now but I have googled and omg I love them!😂

YANBU OP.

Vegansnake · 24/02/2017 16:12

And she's gone, said what I was trying to say nicely....she put it much better

KingJoffreysRestingCuntface · 24/02/2017 16:13

I quite like the flat Cheshire Cat ones.

Still prefer my DMs.

OnHold · 24/02/2017 16:13

Converse are just plimsoles though. Nothing special like the lairy IC shoes.

Maudlinmaud · 24/02/2017 16:13

I have two shoe cabinets and I'm on the hunt for another one. I use old china cabinets, shoes are sooooo pretty!

Chinnygirl · 24/02/2017 16:15

The OP doesn't HAVE to buy dress up shoes or toys but sometimes it is easier to tell the kids "you can play with anything in this box just don't touch my stuff" than trying to parent other peoples children. She could also just say no, but since she posted on the internet about this it just might nit be so simple for her.

And yes, I have toys in the house for visiting kids. It helps them stop chasing the cat. They just want to pet him but cat is afraid of noisy kids and feels bullied. Kids don't understand that.

Crumbs1 · 24/02/2017 16:16

My second daughter has lots of irregular choice and they go in her shoe box with everything else. The idea of displaying them is quite funny. Is the cabinet in the entrance hall? Her graduation Laboutins she keeps in the original box but not ordinary £80 shoes. My youngest's school shoes cost that.

Your friend sounds a bit of a PITA "being a bit mean ?" Hmm

She needs to be backing you up "no DD I cannot say no to, they're cloths special shoes and precious"

Simples !

FabulouslyGlamourousFerret · 24/02/2017 16:21

Crumbs1 I don't think the displaying them is about showing off how much they cost, it's because IC shoes are pretty/funky 👠 doesn't really matter if they only cost as much as your sons school shoes.

OnHold · 24/02/2017 16:21

You could stick some rubber ducks under your boots heels.
