To think some people just come on here to argue?

I swear some people just come on here to argue and make other parents feel like utter shit! Almost every post on here someone comes onto and finds a way of giving the OP some abuse.

I thought this site was to help each other and give advice. You know a support network.

I could literally write something like 'saw a cute kitty today' or 'had a banging cuppa' I bet someone would cause an argument! I wish some people would just get a grip! Bet it makes them feel really big hiding behind a keyboard!

Did you report it?

LouKout · 21/02/2017 10:04

Yes. some people purely come here to have a good barney and take out the frustrations of their lives on MN I'm sure. Have seen it admitted that people come on deliberately when they have PMS. A new hobby is needed.

ilovesooty · 21/02/2017 10:05

Sorry that was to Fighter

DevelopingDetritus · 21/02/2017 10:14

I agree OP, it's pretty sad really.

OnHold · 21/02/2017 10:24

MN seems to be full of newbies who don't like it here atm. If it's not the forum for you there are plenty of others out there.

PointxTaken · 21/02/2017 10:28

what do you call a newbie? I have been here for years, and I am still shocked at the nastiness of some posters. They must have such a depressing life.

LouKout · 21/02/2017 10:31

very far from a newbie here

OnHold · 21/02/2017 10:35

See it's often the ones claiming that MN is full of mean girls etc .Who come on these very regular threads calling posters all sorts of names for having a different opinion.

Is that any better really?

DevelopingDetritus · 21/02/2017 10:36

Newbie, me neither.

LouKout · 21/02/2017 10:36

theres having a different opinion and calling people cunts, as has been happening recently

OnHold · 21/02/2017 10:37

Calling people sad and telling them to get a new hobby is just as bad.

LouKout · 21/02/2017 10:37

this is a good example of arguing for sake of it

GinIsIn · 21/02/2017 10:37

Genuine question - if you aren't a newbie and you find MN and its users "depressing" and "nasty", why do you use it?

LouKout · 21/02/2017 10:37

i dont use it nearly as much as I used to

DevelopingDetritus · 21/02/2017 10:39

I just ignore/blank them, they'll hate that.

mymilisbatshit · 21/02/2017 10:57

There are some great people on here with decent advice if if their opinions are different I'm talking about the people who as some
People have said make up a side story and then insult people on other parts of their lives

if you aren't a newbie and you find MN and its users "depressing" and "nasty", why do you use it?

because some posters are very bright, very knowledgeable and can be either very helpful or present a well articulated view that I wouldn't have thought about - which is why I asked in the first place. The best ones tell you to "go away and stop writing" when they can't articulate an argument. Why shouldn't I use the forum because of a few bored idiots?

I just ignore or laugh about the spiteful comments, and sometimes can't help winding them up even more Blush but I do feel sorry for some people who came here to ask questions anonymously and get an unnecessary beating.

This scenario is totally different:
-OP: am I BU
-everybody: "yes"
-OP: no I am not
then ask to ask the thread removed because of "privacy".

Blackhouse · 21/02/2017 13:47

I think we all need to accept that everyone uses mumsnet for different reasons and will come at every topic from a different angle. so the arguments will happen. By the same token I feel it's wrong to say if you don't like it go else where... its not really for any user to decide how everyone should be posting, and how all the posts should be received. No user should tell another to go elsewhere, mumsnet is for everyone and it's a bit childish Confused. OP I think that sometimes on a post there can be a few negative comments and that prompts a flurry of more so the whole thing turns a bit nasty. Do you think it's the same group of people that start the negativity? I wonder if the site is too big for that to be the case!

Ladybirdbookworm · 23/02/2017 00:14

Coulibri you are right - Cousin Helen was her name ..... I'm smoothing my brow and looking serene - any chance of a bedside bell ????
