To think I don't have an eating disorder?

I make myself sick about 2-3 times a week. I know it's not the greatest habit and is no doubt very unhealthy but I only do it when I've eaten too much junk. My weight is fine and I'm otherwise very healthy.

My sister recently found out about it (long story!) and she was horrified. She now has it in her head that I have some sort of eating disorder and will die at any minute.

She told me I need to see a doctor but I've been doing this for nearly eight years now and considering I'm still healthy then I'm hardly going to suddenly drop down dead because of making myself sick a few times a week.

Waffles think you may have meant that to Screw not me. I was questioning the sensitivity of Screw and others not reading the thread before throwing in unhelpful and belated comments.

I agree that many people will read the thread and take comfort and hope from it.

OP CBT will really help, maybe hypnosis too - very powerful used in the right context.

If you're eating so much that you feel bloated, eat a smaller pizza/bowl of pasta

Lol.

Yeah, Just Eat Normally. This is a bit like telling someone with hearing loss to Just Listen A Bit Harder.

Gosh - running, I absolutely did mean that for Screw and not you. Blush

Been there and it's so easy to think your fine as you don't feel that your doing yourself any harm. Just listen to the doctors and do what's right for you.

I dealt with an eating disorder for over 6yrs. Started off very similar to what your saying then hit a bad time in my life and it became a lot more serious. I wouldn't eat for days then when I did would make myself sick. Ended up weighing only 6stone. Best advice I can give is to talk to people close to you about it and just make some small steps that feel right for you. Work out what triggers it (eating big or junk food meals) then start to change that. Perfect example is when you went out the other day. Let DH chose restaurants etc but chose meals you know won't trigger it.

Just remember don't stress and worry about it. Just be open and honest with doctors etc and follow the advice you feel comfortable with

Well done for getting to the GP. I hope the CBT works well for you.

I'm sorry but calling pizza and pasta "junk food" hit a raw nerve with me. I've had 21 years of comments like that.

I have RTFT.

Well done OP you'll get the help you need now. Flowers
