To think someone is cheating on their Fitbit?

Totally minor and 1st world problem I know.

But is it actually possible to get 135000 steps in less than 3 days by just going about your day. That includes 65000 steps today alone.

For comparison I do between 8000 and 14000 a day. DH is training for an ultra marathon and did 65000 steps on a 30 mile run.

Presumably to get loads of steps for eg ironing or cooking, someone must be wearing it on the dominant wrist? I haven't had that with any of my fibits, worn on the non-dominant hand. It doesn't kick in for individual steps/movements either, IME.

yeOldeTrout · 11/02/2017 18:21

Sitting down & listening, fitbit on left non-dominant hand, jiggling my right leg in boredom => 700 steps on Fitbit Flex in (?) 15 minutes. That's how rubbish it was.

Couldn't get it to make sense by calibrating for stride length, either. Even a simple walk around the woods didn't produce sensible numbers just for the walk itself. honestly, I'd rather just make up the numbers myself.

The other thing it was useless at was monitoring sleep. But that's a different long story.

MaidOfStars · 11/02/2017 18:24

yeOlde You probably walked further than 5km then, because Pokémon Go radically undertracks (it's an issue with how the app interacts with GPS).

CantstandmLMs · 11/02/2017 18:25

It's 6.23pm and I was up was up early today but am wallowing so I've got the grand total of 723 steps today Blush that involves folding and hanging some washing and going back and forth to the toilet and kitchen.

I wish mine made up fake steps as I really need them right now!

yeOldeTrout · 11/02/2017 18:28

yeah, that's what DS said, MaidOfStars, about the P-Go undertracking. Fetch says 6.3 km.

BalloonSlayer · 11/02/2017 18:38

When my pedometer clip broke I put my pedometer in my bra. I preferred this because I seemed to clock up more steps. Presumably there was more "bounce" in my bra. Grin

DH pointed out that this was what was wrong with "tracking your steps" that it was so easy to know your device was being dishonest but pretend it was accurate.

Not to worry readers - my sweaty tits killed the pedometer soon enough and I bought a new one with a new clip and returned to my honest measurements.

CantstandmLMs · 11/02/2017 18:45

Haha Balloon! I used to keep my Fitbit flex tracker in there as when pushing a pushchair I get half the steps. Now have a blaze which is a bit bulky for the bra! So put it in my back pocket when walking with a buggy.

I can do 25000 in day but that's walking pretty much constantly between 9-5 washing cars. Valeting gets me to about 14000. 3000 per hour and some on their feet for 12 hrs could do 36000 but it'd have to be non stop

Can't see it is feasible for that amount to be on steps alone
