We got a call from a member of public today at work (vets) that there was a dead dog on the beach.

Two of my colleagues went to collect it. They came back white as sheets. The poor little dog was charred to the bone. My boss feels it was set light to whilst still alive due to certain indicators.

That poor poor little mite. WHY?? fucking WHY would you do That??

There was no microchip and we couldn't tell if the dog was either a staffie pup or jack russel terrier. It had been in the sea for some time. It's teeth were clean which suggests he was quite young.

What made it worse was that the police wouldn't even issue a crime numberAngry RSPCA did show up but realistically felt there was nkthing to be done.

So this poor little dog had been tortured to death and whoever did it will get away with it without so much as even having to wonder if they will get caught.

I am struggling to shift the image of thus little dig yet these vike disgusting little cants are probably laughing and joking about it.

I honestly despair of the human race at times Angry

There should be much tougher sentences for animal cruelty in this country

Aebj · 08/02/2017 00:06

Oh love to you and your work colleagues. I feel for the member of public that had to call you.
Unbelievable that someone could do that kind of thing to a dog. I hope the RSPCA are able to do something.
Bet your animals that are loved and taken to you today get a special hug. Take care of yourself

MarilynWhirlwindRocks · 08/02/2017 00:54

Beyond vile, OP. That must have shaken you all to the core Sad

Am sickened that current maximum sentence (UK Law) for animal cruelty offences is only 26 weeks inside...

26 bloody pathetic weeks. For horrific abuse, which, as PPs have rightly said, is so often an indicator of abuse towards people as well.

This petition's open , MNers...(MP demanding tougher sentencing: they're apparently debating in Parliament on Friday, 24th).

21, 672 signatures so far! Made me feel like I was at least doing something to honour that poor, poor dog your colleagues were traumatised by, OP.
Flowers to everyone who works in animal welfare...you have our total respect and gratitude Star Star Star

Werkzallhourz · 08/02/2017 01:55

I feel animal cruelty is getting worse.

Once upon a time, people used to rustle sheep. Now where we are, they've started just hacking the back legs off while the animal is still alive.

I mean, what sort of person do you have to be to even conceive of doing that to an animal?

mathanxiety · 08/02/2017 03:02

Oh NOOooo.
That is unspeakable.

LEM, wishing you and your colleagues every good wish as you cope with this horror.

I think it's well known that people who are cruel to animals are capable of the most vile crimes against people too. Such people do not feel guilt. Therefore the 26 weeks maximum sentences are not just a very unfunny joke, but a serious threat to safety of people and animals alike.

mathanxiety · 08/02/2017 03:05

x-post with Basil and Lass.

KoalaDownUnder · 08/02/2017 03:19

That has made my cry.

Pieces of human shite. AngrySad

RebootYourEngine · 08/02/2017 05:53

How fucking disgusting.

I am not really an animal lover but who the fuck thinks its ok to treat an animal like that.

MagicChicken · 08/02/2017 06:09

I know how you feel. It's just beyond comprehension that people can be so evil and take pleasure in inflicting such abominable cruelty. It breaks my heart. The most awful thing is to think how much worse it is in many other countries.

Personally I'd be all in favour of meting out the same sort of treatment to the utter cunts who go in for this sort of thing for kicks. I'd gladly see them strung up and tortured. Not a tear would be shed from me.

FloorHugger · 08/02/2017 06:35

Can i really really encourage going to your local press.

If those people are bragging in any way, someone would have heard something and they may tell on them.

It has happened here where I live. People like this always brag and the word gets around, believe me.

sashh · 08/02/2017 06:57

That's awful the police won't see it as a crime. Why on earth not? Surely someone who can do that is a risk to other animals and even possibly people..

If they record it as a crime then it shows in their figures as unsolved.

LotsOfAxolotlsAndOcelots · 08/02/2017 07:15

I've worked as a Vet Nurse for 35 years and I can say honestly this sort of thing is not as rare as we would all like it to be. I have nightmares and flashbacks sometimes of some of the things I have seen and can't ever unsee. No wonder there's a shortage of Vet Nurses. Sad

StumblyMonkey · 08/02/2017 07:21

I'm so sorry, it must be awful to have to see a dog in those circumstances. Flowers

I just cannot understand people that are cruel to animals. We have four cats, two we brought up from birth while rescuing their mother. They don't know that people can be cruel and I hope they never have to know and always feel safe...but I wish every animal (and child) could feel the same. Sad

Jaagojaago · 08/02/2017 07:25

My lovely precious shihtzu is sighing on my lap as baby DS sits by us reading his book with me. If anyone hurts this scene of love trust and peace I would kill them. The poor little soul.

Anniegetyourgun · 08/02/2017 07:27

You are not as bad as them when you wish them to come to harm. You don't go around wishing random people harm, do you? You're reacting to something they did. The dog didn't do anything to deserve its awful fate, but they did - and they won't even have an awful fate. Except to be themselves, which is bad enough. Unfortunately if they live longer they'll have more chances to ruin the lives of other innocents. So I think on the whole wishing them a quick death, but less unpleasant than the death(s) they've caused, is decent, practical and humane. So there.

nannybeach · 08/02/2017 07:47

It is absolutely horrible. But I suppose when people do this sort of thing to other people, there are going to be an element of them who also do this to animals!

Idefix · 08/02/2017 07:50

Oh Lem how awful for you, I hope that you are managing okay. It really is hard to cope with things like this that make no sense and leave such visual images burned into your memories.

There are no words for the cunts who did this. They are vile and evil and sadly even when brought to justice are rarely punished in a way that reflects their foul crimes.

I hope today is easier for you.

wishparry · 08/02/2017 07:54

Poor little thing.
It's just reminded me of a news story in the internet I tried to block from my memory.a gang of youths in Mexico set a dog on fire and filmed it the sick cunts!the poor dog was running towards them for help, and they were just laughing and trying to dodge from the flames.
some people are cruel beyond words.
Flowers for you OP.

dailybabystuff · 08/02/2017 08:32

How about searching www.doglost.co.uk for a missing dog of the right size, breed, area?

The cruelty of human beings towards animals is unspeakable. There is probably less of this kind of wanton sadism in this country than many other places - but none of it is excusable, anywhere.

maitaimojito · 08/02/2017 08:43

Poor thing. I'm welling up thinking about what it must have gone through.

Dogs are so loving, is just can't understand how someone could set about to deliberately cause harm. It makes my heart ache when you see dogs that have been rescued after being badly abused - so many of them are still so trusting and willing to be affectionate towards humans.

iloveeverykindofcat · 09/02/2017 06:08

I would agree with going to the local press. They'll brag at some point.

ThaliaLuxurySpa · 09/02/2017 08:11

Agree. Go to local media. Just heartbreaking.

TheoriginalLEM · 09/02/2017 18:18

The RSPCA have done a press release and it is in the local news. I don't know why they felt the need to include pictures, I did not need a visual reminder :( Hopefully if some scummy little cunt has been bragging to his friends it will prompt them into reporting them. Am off work poorly, but we were all really upset by this. Poor dog, it didn't deserve to die like that.

OP posts:
YouHadMeAtCake · 09/02/2017 18:26

Agree with kindfcat hopefully they will.

I'm sorry OP, it must be so hard. I am still fuming and so sad after reading all this for the first time the other other day. I think adding photos, although incredibly distressing , is important. It really hits home and may like you say, make someone who knows something but was not involved, come forward or give information.

Personally I'd do exactly the same to the cunts that did it. Regardless of who and what age they are.

kali110 · 09/02/2017 19:53

Fucking scum. Hope the people are found.
They don't give tough enough sentances.
I'd go nuclear if someone hurt one of mine Angry
