www.facebook.com/peterandjaneandmummytoo/ if you click the link you'll see the current top post I think about daddy lost his keys - not sure how to link directly to it

I feel ill it's so awful. A horrid grumpy twat of a man stomping about cos he can't find his keys, blaming everyone but himself and then mummy 'joking' about hitting him over the head with the gin bottle

this is 1980's humour like jim davidson and mother in law killing jokes etc... isn't it?

relationships shouldn't be like that - one person having violent thoughts and/or walking on eggshells all the time while a ridiculous incompetent man child has a tantrum

this crap is why so many women think that is all there is in men out there. uselessness at best and abusive at worst.

UGH

I like it, and just take it all with a pinch of salt. Apart from Wheeler Fucking Dealers, I'm totally with her on that.

Did I read once that she's a Mumsnetter?

The one which I can't stand is (and I think it's called) I Know I Need To Stop Talking, I keep seeing comments about that on my Facebook.

greedygorb · 04/12/2017 12:20

All these hilarious blogs are actually written by bots. There's an algorithym - put in keys phrases, wine, gin, mummy, fuckwit husband, little shits, swearing, shoes and out they pop- sometimes written in the third person. It's Mr Browns Boys for women in their 30s and 40s,

Katedotness1963 · 04/12/2017 12:21

I can't be bothered with the mummy bloggers who pretend they spend all day cursing and drinking gin, thinking about drinking gin, buying gin, and telling you how much they can't wait to drink gin. Because we all know being brought up by a drunk is hilarious! How we laughed through my childhood...

Corkscrewbetty · 04/12/2017 12:33

It's very much on-trend to talk about how your kids and husband drive you to drink (only lovely glasses of wine or gin though... if you were to say, "I have to down at least eight cans of Castlemaine Four-X to get me through the evening, it wouldn't be so revered by the yummy mummies) . "Gin o'clock", "Keep calm and drink prosecco", "I wish my husband would stay in his man cave" and all the rest that goes with it - it's very annoying. I've only ever read a couple of these posts and decided pretty early on that I couldn't have all that crap in my life. They're all the same. I have so many friends who like this mummy-blogging shite and it is worrying. Well, worrying might be too strong a term for it. But it would be nice if we celebrated what it is to have children and talked of the joy of it all rather than what a pain in the arse it is and how exhausting and mind-numbingly boring and hilariously dreadful it all is. I really love my kid. She doesn't annoy me. I think the sun shines out of her little bum and I couldn't be happier with my lot. I'm a full-time working single mum with plenty of problems, but I just find the whole "my life is a living nightmare" tirades to be easy humor. Micheal Mcintyre with tits and extra swearing. She seems to be doing very well with it all, so good on her - but it'll be nice when this trend passes and goes the same way as all that cupcake balls and chillaxing we had a few years back.

sinceyouask · 04/12/2017 12:42

I quite like the facebook page, it's funny more often than not.

The book, though... the book is awful. I didn't expect it- nor, to be fair, did it claim- to be amazing literary fiction, but it's so very bad that I feel embarrassed for the author. Although I'm only about half way through, maybe there is a huge upcoming twist that saves it from being so totally crap.

gillybeanz · 04/12/2017 12:56

I think it's funny, if you grew up reading the stereotypical 1950's books, this is a relief. Grin

ivenoideawhatimdoing · 04/12/2017 12:58

Thank you OP, I hadn't seen those before but it's really cheered up my morning.

and made me very thankful for my husband and job

GrimDamnFanjo · 04/12/2017 15:06

Don't really want to add to a zombie thread, but the writer is lovely in real life and pretty normal.

DearyDearyDeary · 04/12/2017 15:47

Lots of artistic licence being taken - and I enjoy it. If you don't like it, unfollow.

And probably good to let folk know you don't want the book for Xmas.

Shootforthemoon1 · 04/12/2017 17:29

I heard the opposite and apparently being a working mum is a total lie. 😳

I think that’s it Grin

MycatsaPirate · 04/12/2017 18:43

I love Peter and Jane and I also bought the book which was really funny.

I think she hits on all the stuff we niggle about constantly. Messy kids, husband thinking he knows best when it comes to Man Jobs, kids not listening/doing as they are told, wobbly bits, the endless cleaning, washing and juggling of life. It's all in her posts but obviously written to be funny rather than a rant.

She also touches on stuff like PND and I am glad blogs like this are out there. For parents who are struggling and really are alone, knowing that their kids behaviour is actually quite normal, that siblings do batter the shit out of each other just because one looked at the other one etc is really good.

Read it or don't read it. I don't care. But I do like it and I don't care if you set Judgy dog on me.

Leonard1 · 04/12/2017 18:48

It is probably one of the best things on Facebook. Her book is great too had me laughing out loud. Some people like it, some don’t that’s life! I think she is very articulate and writes well.

IsItThursdayYet · 04/12/2017 18:56

My friends that like it do find absolutely everything hilarious in rl too. We go for nights out and they will be crying laughing over something and I am confused and having to fake laugh.*

They find joy in things. There's nothing wrong with laughing!

GrimDamnFanjo · 05/12/2017 00:10

Shoot I can't speak for what you've heard, only what I actually know first hand.

sinceyouask · 05/12/2017 11:54

And I feel a bit bad now for slating the book, because I do think the author comes across as a lovely person on her facebook page...
