www.facebook.com/peterandjaneandmummytoo/ if you click the link you'll see the current top post I think about daddy lost his keys - not sure how to link directly to it

I feel ill it's so awful. A horrid grumpy twat of a man stomping about cos he can't find his keys, blaming everyone but himself and then mummy 'joking' about hitting him over the head with the gin bottle

this is 1980's humour like jim davidson and mother in law killing jokes etc... isn't it?

relationships shouldn't be like that - one person having violent thoughts and/or walking on eggshells all the time while a ridiculous incompetent man child has a tantrum

this crap is why so many women think that is all there is in men out there. uselessness at best and abusive at worst.

UGH

I love the Peter and Jane posts, I think she's a very funny writer.

And yes she is a mumsnetter because in one her posts it said AIBU (as they say on mumsnet), or something along those lines.

FannyDeFuzz · 07/02/2017 18:30

I find it all a bit dull, but then I do find I'm a bit past that "all mums together" stage, now that DC is past the preschool stage.

Though I never really liked it in the first place, along with the "To the mum who..." type posts

Anatidae · 07/02/2017 18:33

I think she's quite funny. I used to live in Edinburgh and I often wonder if I knew her.

Allthebestnamesareused · 07/02/2017 18:34

I think its all a bit tongue in cheek and there are aspects I can relate to (but it is obviously done in an exaggerated manner). If you don't like it - really simple solution "unfollow".

Judgy Dog is cute.

It kind of reminds me of French and Saunders Ladies from Barbourshire.

Hempyhands · 07/02/2017 18:35

For funny you need to see the Forest Fr1ends page.....Grin

atheistmantis · 07/02/2017 18:36

It's a piss take of the learn to read books in the 1970s isn't it ?

TimTamTerrier · 07/02/2017 18:37

I quite like it, I never thought it was at all real or that I was meant to think that it's real. I'm pretty sure that the real children are fairly happy and well-adjusted and that, for the most part, the parents love each other and enjoy each other's company. That dog really is quite judgey though.

It's the nature of comedy that only some people will find it funny, others will find it hurtful/rude/too dark/bland/silly. All comedy is like that, all of it, I bet there are even people who didn't laugh at Victoria Wood.

JellyWitch · 07/02/2017 18:37

I always think that she should find something more interesting to do with her life. Her blog pops up on my feed daily thanks to one friend or another and she seems to have the most boring life!

TwoTicketsToTeesside · 07/02/2017 18:38

It's hollow and soulless, and a bit depressing. Dunno why I clicked through though, I'm predisposed to hate anything to do with mummy blogging.

Saucery · 07/02/2017 18:39

I like it a lot. Some posts are a bit overwritten but there are some really funny bits and when she gets her teeth into PND or being a Good Enough Parent she is bloody fantastic.

People with a Humour Bypass probably want to give Totes Innapropes the swerve too 😄

I like it. It makes me laugh. Occasionally out loud. Anything that makes me laugh has a place in my world.

Doowappydoo · 07/02/2017 18:40

I love it - I think she 's a v good comic writer and it's clearly exaggerated but funny because it's also a bit true.

Fairenuff · 07/02/2017 18:42

There's usually a huge glass of wine in the photo too. I've always thought they could maybe do with thinking about cutting back a bit.

Saucery · 07/02/2017 18:43

I doubt she really does drink that much and every day. Or swear at her dc.

BusterGonad · 07/02/2017 18:44

It's light hearted fun, I'm not offended by it but it's boring. I got to the second paragraph and was bored shitless by it!

Caroian · 07/02/2017 18:47

Erm... it's a combination of satire and parody. It isn't meant to be taken literally and I'd be a bit Shock if people really couldn't pick that up! But if you don't enjoy, just block and move on.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 07/02/2017 18:49

I love Hurrah For Gin.

Much funnier than Peter and Jane IMO.

measles64 · 07/02/2017 18:52

I enjoy these types of blogs, however with this one, I do not share it because of the language used, I know some friends might be offended. Imo. it is a highly exaggerated recount of something all of us may go through at one time. The missing keys is a regular in our house. Usually they are in the front door.

TwoTicketsToTeesside · 07/02/2017 18:52

I think it's fairly clear it's satire and parody! Just by virtue of being satire and parody doesn't make it less bleakly vapid.

Although thousands of people like it so meh, each to their own.

bigbluebus · 07/02/2017 18:57

Can't believe so many people are offended by this. I read it this morning over breakfast and thought it was so funny I read it out to DH who thought it was hilarious too. My DH does not stamp around the house but both males in my house try the "where have you moved XX to ?" when they can't find things. I can't be offended by it, it's just meant to be a bit of fun.

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 07/02/2017 18:57

Well I don't find many things amusing these days as I hate crudity and swearing, but I have to say I find these posts quite funny and very apt and
because of that I will ignore the bad language. Just a bit of fun!

kittytom · 07/02/2017 18:58

It's up to you what you like reading so YANBU. I like it though. I am glad people write funny stuff about how tedious family life can be. If you don't like/get it why not just unfollow instead of writing a negative post on mumsnet?

TwoTicketsToTeesside · 07/02/2017 18:58

Has anyone actually said they are offended? Apart from the OP who had a rather visceral reaction! I think it's just a matter of taste, isn't it? Not finding something funny doesn't mean you find it offensive.

Lochan · 07/02/2017 19:06

I don't find it offensive.

It just seems to me to be a bit girlish giggling "oh look at me swearing and drinking and being so naughty".
