Question : do the people who say tish-oo also say ish -oo ??

This thread is opening up so many new worlds or pronunciation to me! Who knew there sere so many variants?

Is it who knoo ? or who kn-yew ??

I say both, depending on whether I am channelling US DM or not...

Vej-tar-buuuulll

picklemepopcorn · 05/02/2017 13:57

OP still hasn't told us if it matters...

ptangyangkipperbanguuh · 05/02/2017 14:11

pickle , I don't think any of us cares any more. We are having too much fun .
dame - 'correct'... hmmm... interesting cultural imperialism! Newsreaders say 'tiss - yew' so I am surprised tbh at the dictionary. But ish-oo is definitely definitely a US pronunciation!!

Now - definitely : there's another one!!
I can spot a Glaswegian a mile off with that word.

ptangyangkipperbanguuh · 05/02/2017 14:12

My DS2 just a propos of nothing said tish- yew. The yew wasn't very strong but it wasn't tish-oo

GoesDownLikeACupOfColdSick · 05/02/2017 14:22

My colleague says "veggytubble".

It's definitely not that!

Uiscebeatha85 · 05/02/2017 14:23

Veg ta bill

OverTheGardenGate · 05/02/2017 14:43

Veggie tubble. I have no illusions of grandeur. I think it's just a Northern accent thing.

Clawdy · 05/02/2017 14:54

Veggy tubble. Manchester.

CancellyMcChequeface · 05/02/2017 15:14

Vej-t'bul. London.

I remember my baby sister calling them bench-t'buls instead. Grin

picklemepopcorn · 05/02/2017 19:21

I need to know if it matters... I think I say vegtabul.

I say the t in exactly though. I may have to move to Scotland if the say all their letters there. I like that!
