ptangyangkipperbanguuh · 04/02/2017 20:59

How about a specific vegetable?

How do you say lettuce...?people who say lettiss really grind my gears.

I am filling all the silences where OP should be explaining her intrigue...

ptangyangkipperbanguuh · 04/02/2017 21:00

But Bewty , are you Scottish or a posh twat??!?

joystir59 · 04/02/2017 21:08

Veg- tabul. My OH loves the way I say this word and makes me repeat it to shrieks of laughter.

Huldra · 04/02/2017 21:08

The second.

Someone on breakfast tv let saying courgeeeet the other day. On the 3rd cut back to the veggie shortage story she reverted to Courgette. I want to know if she was a little tongue tied standing out in the cold or had always pronounced it that way.

joystir59 · 04/02/2017 21:09

Lettiss is wrong? How else can you pronounce 'lettuce' OP?

joystir59 · 04/02/2017 21:11

Bus or bas? I've always said bus- I'm from Coventry which my Londoner wife thinks is 'up North'. 'Bus' is another word that makes her laugh.

joystir59 · 04/02/2017 21:14

Wensdy, Libry, Febry, BUT I do say appreciate not appreshiate.

joystir59 · 04/02/2017 21:16

My OH said Birminhum instead of Birmingham earlier this evening.

ptangyangkipperbanguuh · 04/02/2017 21:23

I say let-uhs. Sort of. Not sure how to write it...with stress on lett

ptangyangkipperbanguuh · 04/02/2017 21:25

cherrycokehead · 04/02/2017 22:29

My little brother pronounced it venchtable when he was a toddler (he's 29 now) and I still call them that in my head.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 04/02/2017 22:29

Once upon a time, many years ago, DS had a wonderful way of saying

vij-a-bulls

Now he pronounces it the same as PurpleNurple's kids, but with a stress on the first "urghhh" syllable. 🙄

ptangyangkipperbanguuh · 04/02/2017 22:34

my Scottishness may admittedly be compromised by my American mother and Geordie father...but we all agree on library and Wednesday I think....

TheColourIsZebra · 04/02/2017 22:39

It sounds like 'vesh-ta-bulls' when I say it.
