Just out of curiosity really because she and her voice make me cringe when i hear her on tv or radio.

Love scots though please don't get me wrong.

Not RTFT

I like her immensely - one of the best politicians in the country.

She works hard, seems one of the most honest of the bunch and Scotland is a better place for it.

I wish brexit hadn't happened because no one wants another Indy ref, but Nicola is right to put it back on the table.

I'll be voting yes.

Runningbutnotscared · 03/02/2017 21:16

AIBU to start a thread to ask the Brits if they like Theresa May?

Cause my answer is no, she's thatcher reincarnated and has nothing good to say about the Scottish

AndHoldTheBun · 03/02/2017 21:23

A wee pointer for all those on this thread blaming NS and/or SNP for the state of the NHS. It's not that simple.

The reasons why NHS Scotland is struggling are complex, it's not just about the budget (set by Westminster), there's also a massive staff shortage and retention problem across most of NHS Scotland (similar to NHS England in that respect).

I'm part of a medical family, working in both Scotland and England. DH is a Dr with a fairly senior position within NHS Scotland (both clinical and management roles). Things are bad in Scotland, yes, but no where nearly as bad as in England, and that's because decisions made by the Scottish government aimed at protecting NHS Scotland from some of the worst of what's happening to NHS England.

I'm just throwing that thought to you, I'm not in the mood for arguments... do some reading yourselves (from a wide variety of sources!), just remember situations are rarely as easy as "X is in charge and therefore every negative is the fault of X. There are many constraints and limitations that have to be worked with and around Smile

giggly · 03/02/2017 21:36

I'm with pp. I'm a nurse and well aware of how.much better the NHS Scotland is.
Have no idea how the poster on page 1 can blame NS for someone throwing their nappies out the windowConfused
I like Nicola I think she is fearless and more than able to.take on the wankstains in Westminster.

RVPisnomore · 03/02/2017 21:43

Horrible woman.

Didyoumeantobesorude1 · 03/02/2017 21:44

I think she is excellent.

inlectorecumbit · 03/02/2017 21:45

Can't stand the bloody woman or her policies.

Good post! Lots of people in England have admitted they would love a leader like her. Kinda understandable when you consider what they have got.

CaraAspen · 03/02/2017 21:51

At the time of the Referendum she wiped the floor with the others in all the debates.

panicstationscentral · 03/02/2017 21:54

Love her.

CaraAspen · 03/02/2017 21:56

Theresa May, in contrast, is running scared. She is only in that poisoned chalice of a position because she lay low while the other contenders shot themselves in their collective foot. She hasn't covered herself in glory in her dealings with the odious Trump, either.

panicstationscentral · 03/02/2017 21:57

And she never send the referendum would be a once in a lifetime situation. Alex Salmond did and now he's away.

I hope and pray every day to be separated from the UK.

StatisticallyChallenged · 03/02/2017 22:05

"At the time of the Referendum she wiped the floor with the others in all the debates."

No, she did not. The referendum debates were a disgrace, quite frankly. Her and Lamont shouting at each other like a pair of Glasgow fishwives, each competing to be more "astonished" than the other.

WankersHacksandThieves · 03/02/2017 22:13

From Nicola?!!! :o That is fucking hilarious. I'm no May fan either but she has well and truly put NS in her place - she looks at her like she is something that she needs to scrape of her shoe. NS is a joke.

"I'm going to go and do a deal with Europe for Scotland to stay" Ermm No you won't

"I'm going to stop you triggering article 50?" Errrm No you won't

Etc etc etc.

As for the Health Service, did you know westminster gave them an increased amount of money that matched the increased budget that that they gave to the health service in E&W for them to allocate to the NHS, never got spent on the NHS?

If you look at their own figures produced as per their requirement as the party in power then being independent makes no financial sense whatsoever but they'll keep pushing it as they don't really care what state the country is in.

They have money allocated to help alleviate poverty, they've never spent it. It suits them to keep the poor angry and they just keep saying it's because of westminster.

They've hard powers that could have helped alleviate poverty and they didn't use them. They want people to be using food banks, it makes their case for them.

They froze the council tax for years when even tiny increases could have saved some local services.

It's all smoke and mirrors and blaming everyone else.

None of the MPs are allowed to dissent - they have to sign an agreement not to. You never see them interviewed as there are few that she will allow to speak.

I wonder who they will find to blame if they do get independence and it all goes tits up?

QueenLaBeefah · 03/02/2017 22:13

Nicola sturgeon signed the Edinburgh agreement starting it would be a once in a generation event.

Oldbutstillgotit · 03/02/2017 22:18

Wankershacksand thieves.

Agree 100%

RedVelvetOreos · 03/02/2017 22:20

Also I don't understand the need for the Named Person Scheme by the SNP where each child is assigned a named person. She seems to want to gain more and more control of the state, she doesn't seem very pro democracy along with making the police force into one unit. Also when Donald Trump was elected she was quoted saying that we had to accept it, it was a democratic vote etc well why can't she accept the vote of the scottish people to remain in the UK.

OllyBJolly · 03/02/2017 22:20

I'm not an SNP supporter and admire her tremendously. Only UK politician that is currently demonstrating ethics and leadership.

Calyx72 · 03/02/2017 22:23

Wankers I disagree entirely. How is this union with Tory Britain better for Scotland than what Nicola and Scotgov are trying to achieve?

RedVelvetOreos · 03/02/2017 22:25

Her 'leadership' is based on lies though that people buy into. What she actually does such as the Named Person scheme screams the complete opposite of the picture she paints of an independent Scotland so god knows what she would actually put in place if we were independent.

WankersHacksandThieves · 03/02/2017 22:25

Red Named persons scheme is currently in the bin as it failed legal challenge. They may pull it back out the bin and swipe the mouldy stains of it at some point though - another waste of fecking money.

Magzmarsh · 03/02/2017 22:26

Contributed on page one in defence of Nicola and can't be bothered to scroll through but did the op ever return to the thread?!

Cleebope · 03/02/2017 22:26

Did anyone just see Tracey Ullman's impersonation on BBC 1? Hilarious! I'm from NI and I think she's great, so strong.

Magzmarsh · 03/02/2017 22:32

Just watched it, bloody brilliant Grin

humanfemale · 03/02/2017 22:32

admire her statesmanship and I trust her, she makes a good leader. I don't vote SNP and I voted no in the Indy ref. Times have changed since then and I'm not sure I'd vote no again. My reasons to vote no were largely to stay in the EU which wasn't guaranteed with independence. Look where that got us.

This is pretty much how I feel. This swing to the far right in British politics is deeply worrying to me, and she's coming across as one of the only viable left wing leaders I'm seeing at the moment. She appears to have integrity and conviction. Plus she appears to give a fuck about the environment.

I have zero faith in our current government.
