Just out of curiosity really because she and her voice make me cringe when i hear her on tv or radio.

Love scots though please don't get me wrong.

I didn't used to like her but think I was being shallow and judging her lego hair..I've really warmed to her now. I think she's more honest than most politicians and she genuinely wants the best for scotland. I think brexit Britain's a sinking ship and I agree with her that we should get out of it.

MrsJayy · 03/02/2017 14:08

I also have a fondness for Ruth Davidson

Chrysanthemum5 · 03/02/2017 14:10

I don't like her politics but I admire that she sticks to her beliefs rather than just trying to be populist. Having said that, I'd rather she wasn't in power because I really don't want another referendum

WankersHacksandThieves · 03/02/2017 14:11

She's a fuckwit, I hate her and everything she stands for. I wouldn't breath her outgoing breath if I was starving for oxygen. She is actually making me ashamed to be Scottish. She has stolen the symbols of Scotland, our flag etc and make them represent a horrible racist attitude.

UnGoogleable · 03/02/2017 14:12

I really like her, but I was disappointed that literally the day after IndyRef she essentially said "fuck you majority of Scotland, la, la, la I can't hear you" and continued on her independence crusade.

I'd have had a LOT more respect for her if she had held her hands up, said that it wasn't the result that she wanted but that she respected the majority and sucked it up and got on with the day job.

Having said all of that, I like her tenacity, and I really think she should be the leader of the opposition in the UK parliament.

Oldbutstillgotit · 03/02/2017 14:13

I am a proud Scot and can't stand the woman . Nothing to do with her voice , it's the fact that the NHS, education, police etc are all a mess. I appreciate that the whole raison d'etre of the SNP is to fight for independence but this was comprehensively rejected just over 2 years ago and that democratic vote needs to be respected . The SG have been given huge Welfare Powers but have made no attempt to use them - just one example .

Bestthingever · 03/02/2017 14:13

I don't know anyone who likes her but according to the Scottish media lots of people think she's wonderful.

WankersHacksandThieves · 03/02/2017 14:15

It seems from this rather goady thread that people like or dislike is based purely on whether or not they agree with her politics.

True to a point, but you can't in this case, separate one from the other as she has no other subject she can talk about. She's not interested in running the country, purely on gaining independence, hence the strong polarity.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 03/02/2017 14:16

It is interesting to note, however, that she barely ever talks about independence. It is the other parties who constantly harp on about it, and accuse her of it.

KathArtic · 03/02/2017 14:19

I think the Scots have a good thing with free prescriptions and low uni fees!!

CaraAspen · 03/02/2017 14:20

She is bright and well educated and extremely articulate. What's not to like?

(Some people are too dense to recognise quality in a leader but hey ho.)

MrsJayy · 03/02/2017 14:21

You mean nil uni fees

MrsJayy · 03/02/2017 14:22

Uni fees are nothing to do with Nicola Sturgeon or SNP though.

GruochMacAlpin · 03/02/2017 14:25

Erm Bluntness you do realise that she is First Minister of Scotland?

How exactly do you think she got that title?

Hmm
peggyundercrackers · 03/02/2017 14:25

find her honest and inspirational

eh? she wouldn't know about honesty if it slapped her in the fizzer.

I don't know anyone who likes her or believes a thing that comes out of her mouth. she is extremely divisive and bitter and has no interest in listening to her MPs or the people of Scotland - its her way or the highway.

Yes I like her very much. Voted no in the referendum as belive we are "better together". However, clearly the majority of the UK don't agree with being part of something bigger and I will be voting Yes next time.

peggyundercrackers · 03/02/2017 14:27

she genuinely wants the best for Scotland

no shes doesn't, she wants whats best for the SNP.

WankersHacksandThieves · 03/02/2017 14:28

It is interesting to note, however, that she barely ever talks about independence.

That's what she said was the case - it isn't actually. Outside of election time the leaders of the other parties get very little media time. Nicola obviously gets loads- it is her. She threatens to throw her toys out the pram whenever anything doesn't go her way. Harps on about not respecting democracy when she is the one who isn't. there wasn't a Scotland vote in brexit, there was a UK vote. There was however a Scotland vote on independence and she is not respecting that.

The measure of a good leader imo is to be inclusive and to represent everyone in the area you are representing, not just those who happened to vote for you. She doesn't do that. I will however say that not many people do so she is not alone. Just far more sleekit and shitey.

IHaveBrilloHair · 03/02/2017 14:28

I met her and loved her, because she came straight up, said hello, shook my hand, looked me in the eye and spoke to me, it meant a lot since I was in my wheelchair at the time.
She also admired my fabulous shoesGrin
Wether I agree with her politics or not, She was a thoroughly lovely woman that day, to everyone, not just me.

UnGoogleable · 03/02/2017 14:28

It seems from this rather goady thread that people like or dislike is based purely on whether or not they agree with her politics

I think that's a fair thing to judge her on. If people were saying they didn't like her because of her appearance or voice, they'd be shot down in flames. And who knows what her personality is like, since most of us don't actually know her.

Although, in fact, if you read upthread, many of us including myself have actually said we admire her tenacity but don't agree with her politics.

StatisticallyChallenged · 03/02/2017 14:29

She might not talk about independence all the time but it is often enough that it is still a very clear focus for her. I personally want her to just stfu about it "yes, I am in favour of an independent Scotland but we held a referendum and the vote was no. My focus for now is on running Scotland well" would soon shut folk up. But it's constant, not two years after the first one and she announced a push to change hearts and minds

And I'm not too dense to see quality in a leader, thanks. She has many positive qualities but her over focus on independence hampers her ability to be the leader she is capable of being.

Jellybean83 · 03/02/2017 14:29

Nope, not even a little bit. On paper I should, strong intelligent woman who stands up for what she believes in but oh my gosh so unbelievably unlikable. I know very few people who do actually like her.

BewtySkoolDropowt · 03/02/2017 14:29

Everyone I know that has met her (and theres quite a few) have been very impressed with her, regardless of their politics.

One still hates the fact that he (staunch labour supporter) could not find it to dislike her.

I've never met her so can't comment.

CaraAspen · 03/02/2017 14:30

"GruochMacAlpin

Indeed. Bluntness should at least try to do some homework...
