Love scots though please don't get me wrong.

I hate to ask but is that bloke stilk wearing the mask/helmet? I think his name was Jesse and he was about in the 80s saying that he wouldn't take it off until freeeeeeedoooommmmmmm!!! I remember him from my childhood.

StatisticallyChallenged · 05/02/2017 11:26

I'm not going through that one but I pulled apart many of wings posts at the time. He is the king of selective statistics

"SaorAlbaGuBrath

I am always struck by the fact that the pro-Indies are articulate and reasonable, in contrast to the shrill empty vessels who know very little indeed

I'm pro-Indy, and comments like that aren't helpful or indeed called for! There are arseholes in every walk of life, there are no voters who say vile things and there are yes voters that say things which make me sick. Nasty comments, whatever your opinion aren't helpful and are exactly what caused the divide.

My neighbours and my entire family were no voters, we never fell out, we never said nasty things to each other, in fact DP and I walked to the polls with our neighbours on the day. Once you need to sink to being nasty to get your point across, you've lost the argument. It's uncalled for."

It is my experience of the two camps. In addition, I am stating my opinion. Do desist from being sanctimonious: it doesn't suit you given your username.

WankersHacksandThieves · 05/02/2017 11:28

Cara

in contrast to the shrill empty vessels who know very little indeed.

Are you on the same thread as everyone else? Your comments have been fairly limited to just insulting remarks to other posters.

Olympiathequeen · 05/02/2017 11:29

Talking about NS alone.

She has done more to divide Scotland and the uk than anyone previously. She has pedalled more smoke and mirror lies than anyone before.

I used to be happy we all pulled together as a union, but now I wish Scotland would just bugger off.

Apologies to Scots who don't support the SNP, but years of anti English rhetoric has brought this about in many of the rest of the UK. If the English had a vote in the Scottish referendum then Scotland would be independent today and the rest of us would be much better off.

originalmavis · 05/02/2017 11:30

There's plenty of anti scots rhetoric in England for please don't play the hurty feelings card.

trixymalixy · 05/02/2017 11:31

Oh god. Has someone in all seriousness actually posted a link to Wings saying it's credible?!?! I am utterly cringing for them.

Calyx72 · 05/02/2017 11:31

I'm not surprised you 'pulled apart many of his posts' or that you won't go through this one. I don't mind either. It's not for me to ask anyone to.

I was just putting it up because people were using those figures to say iScotland would be a financial disaster and he writes about how that isn't necessarily true. And I think some folk could take heart from that like I do.

StatisticallyChallenged · 05/02/2017 11:32

Reducing 55% of those who voted to a stupid, facile and hugely inaccurate stereotype says rather more about you than them frankly.

Calyx72 · 05/02/2017 11:33

Cringe away Trixy Grin I think he writes sense if a bit goady now and again!

trixymalixy · 05/02/2017 11:33

I'm also astonished by those that think brexit is an utter disaster for this country but that independence would be the saviour of Scotland. The cognitive dissonance is just staggering!!

Olympiathequeen · 05/02/2017 11:34

Wings over Scotland ...... slightly biased ???

The BBC article states independent financial analysts. Not Westminster and not the Scottish government. I deliberately did not look at Scottish or possible biased statistics.

Ok so maybe it's not about finances for you Calyx but about principles. Will that feed your children and provide healthcare? Unfortunately finances are the only important issues.

And I don't want to save the union. I want Scotland gone.

trixymalixy · 05/02/2017 11:34

No Calyx he doesn't write sense. He is a hypocrite of the highest order who accuses others of cherry picking data while doing exactly that himself.

WankersHacksandThieves · 05/02/2017 11:36

The Wings over scotland guy iirc didn't even have a vote because he doesn't live in Scotland. I am sure he has been debunked as a troll and general shit stirrer.

He does the no indy cause no good - he just recruits other xenophobic minded cybernats.

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 05/02/2017 11:36

I was on a thread once where a few no voters were calling pro independence posters Rab and Mary doll, so there is sneering on both 'sides'.

The language used around these issues is intemperate and extreme. Anyone trying to claim that their 'side' of the issue has some kind of moral superiority risks looking extremely foolish.

As I said upthread, I regret that there is no strong opposition to the SNP and am becoming very jaded with unfulfilled promises and wild claims.

However that doesn't make me or anyone else an idiot, shrill or anything else of that nature.

Calyx72 · 05/02/2017 11:37

I believe iScotland can feed its children and care for its elderly and disabled and sort out its NHS and more. Tory Britain is doing worse on those by the day. In my opinion Scotland needs independence as soon as possible.

Olympiathequeen · 05/02/2017 11:37

Who wants to be in a marriage or union when one partner is broadcasting hate and lies to the world?

Which is a huge pity as I used to like Scotland and think the Scots great people but years of this NS and SNP bile has done for me.

Olympiathequeen · 05/02/2017 11:39

On what calyx? Scotch mist?

Calyx72 · 05/02/2017 11:39

Olympia why are you arguing for the Union if you 'want Scotland gone'. We would still be here on the island of Britain just self governing and financially self sufficient.

Calyx72 · 05/02/2017 11:40

Scottish people don't hate English people especially not Nicola Sturgeon.

Calyx72 · 05/02/2017 11:42

Scotland has many resources, more than many other similar sized (independent) countries.

WankersHacksandThieves · 05/02/2017 11:44

Calyx are you still on the prosecco?

prettybird · 05/02/2017 11:44

I like her. I've also met her on many occasions (first starting 20 years ago when she doorstepped us while she was out campaigning and she debated respectfully with my cynical dh for 45 minutes on the close landing) and in my experience, what you see is what you get in contrast to what the dislikers claim

My dad is just back from South Africa and commented last night that she is the only UK politician who is respected over there (lots of expats where he was too).

Calyx72 · 05/02/2017 11:45

Wankers no it's tea n biscuits atm Smile

StatisticallyChallenged · 05/02/2017 11:46

Actually whilst I really didn't gloat about the result - I had friends who were upset- I have to admit I really really enjoyed watching wings lose his shit and throw his dummy out of the pram as the results were coming in.

I had him and his followers threatening me on Twitter for questioning the accuracy of his facts. They were utterly vile and seriously aggressive. Mind you they also didn't understand what was meant by me saying that the economy of the UK was more diverse than that of Scotland alone.
