To think that cat owners that smoke don't realise how bad they smell?

I bought some cake decorating stuff (second hand) at the weekend and it stinks. I put it through the dishwasher and now that stinks too. Why don't people realise that having cats shitting in the kitchen is vile - and why are cat litter trays often in the kitchen? Would the bathroom not be more appropriate? Why mix cooking with the toxic stink of cat shit?

And in answer to all of the cat owners that will tell me that their cat/house doesn't smell, you're wrong, it does, and there's cat hair all over you. Smokers have no defence other that you probably can't smell how bad you are because you've knackered your tastebuds.

I am never going to buy another second hand thing unless it's from a 'smoke & pet free house'. Stinky fuckers.

Our bathroom is about 2 feet square so no room for a litter tray. If the cats had been using the baking equipment as a litter tray then it might have smelled of cat shit, but the dishwasher still would have got it clean anyway and if your dishwasher now smells, it is your dishwasher that it shit.

I have on occasion put the litter tray in the dishwasher but I did a cleaning cycle afterwards and it didn't smell.

Kronutpearl · 01/02/2017 09:12

I agree dogs smell more than cats. Cats only smell if you don't bother clearing out the litter tray - their skin and fur doesn't smell. Dogs actually do smell "doggy".

NB: I love dogs.

probably everybody smells?

I loathe finding cat shit in my garden though.

Kronutpearl · 01/02/2017 09:13

My pussy is very hairy - well one of them is!

😂

LittleLionMansMummy · 01/02/2017 09:15

Our cats tend to lie and sleep in the same place all the time. Those places are hairy - one rocking chair with a throw we wash regularly and a futon with another throw we wash regularly. We don't have a problem with cat fur, or bad smells. It's not difficult to regularly change litter and keep the box somewhere inoffensive. Cats themselves don't smell - but their 'products' do.

I love dogs. But they do smell. And wet dog smell is particularly pungent.

Kronutpearl · 01/02/2017 09:16

Our litter tray is right next to our loo which I think is the obvious place for it really.

londonrach · 01/02/2017 09:19

They do but then your house will smell too. That advert nose blind comes to mind. My house at the moment stinks of lavender as making lavender hearts for some patients. I love the smell but know of at least one person who hates it as sets off her migraines.

Somewhere out there is a cat who likes baking and smoking! That's unusual.
Maybe the BBC should fill the loss of GBBO with a new version with Mary, Mel & Sue and a lot of cats competing? It would get great ratings just from people wanting to go "awwwww" over the cats. Much better than watching Paul Hollywood in a big tent on his own.

OverTheGardenGate · 01/02/2017 09:22

Paul Hollywood smells of cakes.

londonrach · 01/02/2017 09:22

Cats smell more than dogs to a none pet owner unless its wet dog in which case thats another level of smell. Smokers smell end of story as it comes out in their pores so even if they spray, smoke outside, smoke naked etc theres still a smell to a none smoker. Mind you i know people that love that smell. Each to their own.

EllebellyBeeblebrox · 01/02/2017 09:23

I'm a smoker, who owns a cat. I also very much enjoy garlic, and have an array of cheap perfumes. It's a wonder I have any friends at all obviously ;)

Whydidwedoit4times · 01/02/2017 09:23

Clean your dishwasher how disgusting

Ohdearducks · 01/02/2017 09:24

I'm sure smoking, cat owner sellers will be utterly devastated and lose a lot of sleep over this.

YANBU. My cat's tray is in the bathroom and the soiled litter is flushed away several times a day :)

Reow · 01/02/2017 09:26

My cat doesn't smell at all unless you stick your nose in his fur, and then he smells like digestive biscuits.

Sounds like you just bought stuff form some manky dirty house.

PurpleMinionMummy · 01/02/2017 09:28

What's the sudden thing about cats being smelly on here? Or is there just one person with a huge hang up over it?

I don't have pets but I can't say I've ever noticed that cats smell :/ most other pets smell far more imo!

Sparklingbrook · 01/02/2017 09:30

Ooh are there other smelly cat threads?

Kronutpearl · 01/02/2017 09:32

Some people are generally upright about animals.

Those people are not my kin.

My 11 mo has a cold atm. He's snotty. My cat is far less disgusting.

MyHairNeedsASnip · 01/02/2017 09:32

I do lots of home visits and I can mostly smell when someone has a dog over someone having a cat. Sometimes there is no animal smell whichever they have.

SquirrelSquad · 01/02/2017 09:32

I agree, hygiene is important.

No-one wants a smelly pussy.

strawberrypenguin · 01/02/2017 09:36

How does a cat make cake decorating stuff smell? I have a cat and yes I've often got a bit of cat fur on me but she doesn't smell and doesn't have a litter tray as she'snot kept in so doesn't need one. That's a huge generalisation based on one house!

seafoodeatit · 01/02/2017 09:39

I'm not sure I could smell cats unless it was a textile that's not been washed and used as a pet bed, smokers items though yes I hate the smell, I've bought stuff in the past advertised as smoke free home and it has really hummed.

Sparklingbrook · 01/02/2017 09:40

Sparklingcat has her own house like this one. I wonder if that smells? Grin
