To think that cat owners that smoke don't realise how bad they smell?

I bought some cake decorating stuff (second hand) at the weekend and it stinks. I put it through the dishwasher and now that stinks too. Why don't people realise that having cats shitting in the kitchen is vile - and why are cat litter trays often in the kitchen? Would the bathroom not be more appropriate? Why mix cooking with the toxic stink of cat shit?

And in answer to all of the cat owners that will tell me that their cat/house doesn't smell, you're wrong, it does, and there's cat hair all over you. Smokers have no defence other that you probably can't smell how bad you are because you've knackered your tastebuds.

I am never going to buy another second hand thing unless it's from a 'smoke & pet free house'. Stinky fuckers.

Meet Stella. The most beautiful cat in the world. Even the dog thinks so, judging by the staring that goes on.....

Oh, my Lord! Your beautiful Stella gets my vote all day long. She is GORGEOUS! What breed is she??

VivienneWestwoodsKnickers · 03/02/2017 22:44

Thank you! Stella is a moggy. I suspect part Norwegian Forest Cat, but she weighs 3kg when the full breed is about 7kg. Fluffy toes, knickerbockers, ruff at the neck etc - classic for that breed.

She came from the dog warden aged 1yr. True story!

caz323 · 03/02/2017 22:53

Vivienne, sorry I'm old school when it comes to weights! I inherited 2 beautiful cats from my beloved late Mum. They are large by breed but not overweight - bigger than a Jack Russell dog!

VivienneWestwoodsKnickers · 04/02/2017 09:09

Six and a half pounds is all she weighs! She's dinky. Mostly fur. ☺️

YetAnotherSpartacus · 04/02/2017 10:43

Stella!!! Swooooooon!!! :) :) :) Darling Girl - those eyes!

....

Oh go on Slanky - let's see if your kitty can get more adoration than Stella.

Besides, I don't have a cat and therefore need to live my crazy cat ladyness vicariously through others....

Thought this thread was about me but good to know it's just someone being a bit strange.

I'm not a cat owner but have only noticed a cat smell in one cat owning friend's house, this is because she doesn't choose to empty the litter trays. All other cat owning friends and family have no noticeable cat smell when you go to their house, even my friend who lives in a one bed flat with 2 house cats.

Zoflorabore · 04/02/2017 11:28

You smell Grin

user1483981877 · 04/02/2017 11:50

I can smell Judgemental people a mile off.

shrunkenhead · 04/02/2017 12:22

Dangerrabbit you beat me to it!

mycatwantstokillme1 · 04/02/2017 13:07

every time i see this thread i think of the rhyme we used to sing as kids 'I'm telling, you're smelling, you went to Batman's wedding'

I think I'm losing it Smile

zukiecat · 04/02/2017 16:02

I have four cats and I readily admit that my house does smell a bit

However my friend has two, as well as two horses and her house does not smell at all

Beardsareweird · 04/02/2017 16:52

I have to sticky roller the furniture before sitting down, otherwise I would be covered in my cat's fur, and my cat does have his litter tray in the kitchen, but my house doesn't stink.

ghostyslovesheets · 04/02/2017 16:59

Sparkling My cat's will now love you forever (all 5 of them - imagine the smell!) as they are getting a cat house Grin

ghostyslovesheets · 04/02/2017 16:59

please forgive the misplaced ' though

MagicChicken · 04/02/2017 17:12

I don't think cats smell. Their litter trays smell and if they pee or spray in the house then that will smell but the cats themselves? No.

Smokers smell horrible though. Even the really careful ones smell a bit.

Are you saying you think the cat has pissed or shat on the cake decorating stuff? Because what you are saying about it still smelling even after going through the dishwasher and makes no the dishwasher smell makes no sense at all and makes you sound a bit mad. Confused

Softkitty2 · 04/02/2017 18:57

"But my house doesn't smell"
Nose blind 😂

reallyanotherone · 04/02/2017 19:35

"nose blindness" is where you become desensitised to a strong smell temporarily

Stick your nose in a jar of coffee and after a while you can no longer smell it. But it's not permanent, is not as if you can never smell coffee again.

Same if your house smells of cat piss. Stay long enough and you might not notice the smell. But if you leave, when you come back you would notice.

So people with cats would know if their house doesn't smell.

It's a totally mn thing that if you have pets or don't shower/wash bedding 3 times a day/adhere to mn "hygiene" dictats you do smell, you just don't realise.

MsJudgemental · 04/02/2017 19:42

Cats don't smell (unless they're ill). It's cat litter trays that smell. No tray, no intact tom, no smell.

CiBi · 04/02/2017 20:10

I think the reason OP is so upset is that she thinks you smell through your tastebuds.

Stop licking cats and smokers OP, and you should be fine.

TizzyDongue · 04/02/2017 20:15

Hmmmm, cats can smell with their toungue can't they? The OP is a cat!!!!!

haveacupoftea · 04/02/2017 20:18

Maybe they don't care if they smell. There are more important things in life than what you smell like Biscuit

reallyanotherone · 04/02/2017 20:20

Hmmmm, cats can smell with their toungue can't they? The OP is a cat!!!!

That's snakes...
