to ask you to name my business..?

Firstly, I apologise. I know there have been a slew of these requests with the new year. But reading some of the suggested names, I was so impressed..

So, I was hoping someone might be able to help me...

I have a company that produces decorative outdoor screens and lattices. Up until now I had just been trading under a generic ltd company name but am hoping to market more extensively in the new year.

Problem is, is I have no clever name for the business.. At all.

Basically the business sells decorative/design led outdoor/garden things. Not just screens/lattices, but that is the core product. So I don't really want the name to contain the word "screens" or reference screens in particular, as we do sell other things..

Am adding a picture of one of the products but will happily remove if it is viewed as not appropriate/marketing.

Thank you!!!

I'd try and avoid cheesy or 'smart' pun names. They always sound very amateurish and like small one person businesses. Also avoid totally generic names.

I'll have a think tomorrow.

You have had some fab suggestions! I have a small business and it was a nightmare picking a name. I thought of "Garden Art", "Pretty Little Garden", and "Outdoor Boutique". Good luck!

Trellis Trove... as in treasure trove Grin
Love Trellissimo that a PP suggested too. Some great ideas by everyone.

Outside Elegance

Elegance Exteriors

Outdoor Opulence

Not very happy with any of these but they might spark ideas. I do like Trellissimo as PP suggested but it has no key word factor.

Ah thank you! Even more great names.

I'm going to try and sit down this evening and cross check with domain and business names.

Really like Shades of Serenity that pp has suggested.

Archfarchnad · 29/01/2017 15:42

Trellissimo is far and away the best solution so far. But I do appreciate the problems with not having a key word in the name or being near the start of the alphabet. But my company (I'm a joint partner) has a similarly made-up name which hints at the general direction of our work, and we still get plenty of enquiries from people who just googled around. You could always have Trellissimo Gardens or similar. Or just Trellissimo, then Gardens and More as the subheading.

WashBasketsAreUs · 29/01/2017 16:21

We have a company nearby called " Think outside the box". Don't know if it's registered but they are a sewing /knitting /craft shop.

HelpP1ease · 29/01/2017 17:57

Ok.. I have gone thought most of the names on company house and domains and to see if any companies are trading under those names..
Bad news is that a lot of the really great ones are taken, or have huge issues...

I liked "Inside Out" a lot, but didn't realise there was some huge childrens' film called Inside Out, and so I think it would impossible to climb google rankings/images with that name as there are literally thousands of huge pages regarding that movie in the top spots..

Same with "Outer Space" and "Secret Garden" there are just already so many existing business with those names that web presence is going to be difficult...

I also quite like Outeriour and I thought it was just a play on words, but it actually seems like it is a word in the US??

I had ONE idea.. And I would appreciate if you were quite honest..

"Caché" or "Cache" which is French for hidden.. I could add something like Cache Exteriors or something. What are your thoughts? I wonder if it is too European sounding (maybe not a good thing now?). I don't know.

Lastly, I know there was so much love for "Trellissimo" but I am kind of concerned about this as we only have one or two trellises and its a small part of the product line. For example, would you call the product in the first picture a trellis? To me its a screen, but I am not originally from the UK, so could miss a nuance to the actual meaning of the word..

I would really appreciate if anyone could share their honest thoughts..

I also really liked "Ecran" but it means more like computer screen than screen screen, I think.. But I still thought it was clever in a play on words sense.

OP posts:
TheImprobableGirl · 29/01/2017 18:21

What about combining Cache... something like caché for conifers or cosy caché designs, creative caché

If I had this company I would call it Lazy Sundays or Hidden Sanctuary, something like Improbable's insert name here Loft. Smart Outdoor Ideas. OutsideIn. Outsidesign

MrsTarzan1 · 29/01/2017 18:33

Green Daisies?

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 29/01/2017 18:38

Ecran was my idea

WashBasketsAreUs · 29/01/2017 18:47

Not keen on Ecran ( sorry to the person who suggested it, sorry! ) it doesn't suggest anything gardeny/screeny to me. Cache doesn't do anything for me either tho it would depend what it's joined with. I do think Trellissimo is fab, and yes the original picture looks like a trellis to me. Any help? X

RortyCrankle · 29/01/2017 19:32

What are the screens made of? Are they wood, metal or plastic?

Sorry, neither Ecran nor Cache do anything for me. I've just googled garden screens and trellises to see what other companies are called to get some inspiration but the names are all very boring.
