to ask you to name my business..?

Firstly, I apologise. I know there have been a slew of these requests with the new year. But reading some of the suggested names, I was so impressed..

So, I was hoping someone might be able to help me...

I have a company that produces decorative outdoor screens and lattices. Up until now I had just been trading under a generic ltd company name but am hoping to market more extensively in the new year.

Problem is, is I have no clever name for the business.. At all.

Basically the business sells decorative/design led outdoor/garden things. Not just screens/lattices, but that is the core product. So I don't really want the name to contain the word "screens" or reference screens in particular, as we do sell other things..

Am adding a picture of one of the products but will happily remove if it is viewed as not appropriate/marketing.

Thank you!!!

If no one has taken it I would go outdoor decor cos it rhymes and will stick in peoples minds because it fits the products.

I like the idea of Outer space.

It can then open up a by line using 'universal' that hints to the fact you have lots of products.

I'm crap with ideas and words so can't actually suggest anymore than that!

HelpP1ease · 28/01/2017 11:12

I thought I would make a summary of the name so far in one post so it is easier to read for someone coming onto the thread. Some great suggestions. I feel the name is there somewhere..

Moucharabia (a French/Italian take on the Arab word mashrabiya, referring to traditional latticed walls).
Paravent (French for screen)

flutterworc · 28/01/2017 11:34

Wooden Wallpapers? Alfresco Wallpaper?

Trying to think of a different way of looking at it...

SuperDandy · 28/01/2017 11:37

Avoid puns for a classy brand.

I like the two suggested by Farandole

Pistachiois50pmore · 28/01/2017 11:41

Ivy House is my favourite out of the list. Or something else house. Crane House?

HelpP1ease · 28/01/2017 11:42

Farandole they are really great suggestions, thank you! Do you think it would be too hard for an English speaker to remember/spell? But seriously great..

flutterworc yes thats exactly it. The products are often used to clad fences so that is kind of exactly what they are.

My tuppence worth is to go for something close to the beginning of the alphabet - my business name begins with A so when there's a list of businesses in my area of expertise I inevitably appear at our near the top. Grin

Datun · 28/01/2017 11:48

'The' something also gives the impression of being the one and only thing of that kind.

Secret garden

Olympiathequeen · 28/01/2017 12:53

I think using garden in the name will get you the most hits on Google because it's what people will enter. The SEO is very important so you must first look at what people will enter to find your product then try to consteuct a name around that. Of course the tags you use will be important but google looks at the first few words most. Look up optimising your SEO for other ideas.

No point having a brilliant website if no one can find it.

I love secret garden because it encompasses the screen idea (secret) and garden because most searches will have garden as the first word.

Robstersgirl · 28/01/2017 14:18

Serenity screens.

Brankolium · 28/01/2017 19:25

Ooh I like Secret Garden too.

Maybe Secret Garden Screens though, just to add that extra bit of obviousness?

nicebiscuit25 · 28/01/2017 22:16

That's what I thought if people use it on balconies it's because they want a bit of secrecy

fleuricle · 28/01/2017 22:36

I also want to name a business and find this very encouraging.
I shall start my own thread.
Good luck OP.
I like Trellissimo.

wowfudge · 28/01/2017 22:55

When you have narrowed it down, check whether any other companies with the name are registered with Companies House. You can do this for free via their beta service. Even if you don't intend to trade as a limited company to start with, register the name and keep it as a dormant company. Then when you move on from being a sole trader, there's no risk someone else has your company name. Easier to ensure no one has vexatiously registered the associated domain name too.
