to ask you to name my business..?

Firstly, I apologise. I know there have been a slew of these requests with the new year. But reading some of the suggested names, I was so impressed..

So, I was hoping someone might be able to help me...

I have a company that produces decorative outdoor screens and lattices. Up until now I had just been trading under a generic ltd company name but am hoping to market more extensively in the new year.

Problem is, is I have no clever name for the business.. At all.

Basically the business sells decorative/design led outdoor/garden things. Not just screens/lattices, but that is the core product. So I don't really want the name to contain the word "screens" or reference screens in particular, as we do sell other things..

Am adding a picture of one of the products but will happily remove if it is viewed as not appropriate/marketing.

Thank you!!!

I like Thingvellir's suggestion of The Elegant Outdoors Company. Or even just Decorative Outdoor Solutions (basically your own description of what you sell from your OP).

Lots of suggestions here are names that sound nice but are vague. I think you need your name to give a clear indication of what your company sells to steer any potential customers unquestioningly your way when scrolling down a Google search.

However, I am no marketing expert and have formed these opinions solely from watching Apprentice candidates make terrible decisions Grin

Outdoor Decor ?

welovepancakes · 27/01/2017 14:37

If it's a small, local company, I'd be tempted to trade under your own name. Our tree surgeon was great, but I can't find him online, because I only remember his name, not the name of his business

But if you might ever want to expand or sell the business, that might not work

SaucyJack · 27/01/2017 14:38

Outer Sanctum.

barinatxe · 27/01/2017 14:48

Apologies if anyone has mentioned these but:
Outdoor Decor
The Outdoor Room
Outside Life

Or just take any word from List A and combine it with one from List B. Check it for companies that already exist (and sense) first.

List A: Outdoor, Outdoors, Outside, Open Air, Natural, Rural, Country, Woodland, Open, Al Fresco
List B: Style, Living, Design, Boutique, Fashion, Market, Design, Creations, Vision

Garnethair · 27/01/2017 14:50

If you intend to trade online make it a name that will be found easily on google searches. Thus 'The garden furniture and luxury lattice company' or something similar.

HelpP1ease · 27/01/2017 15:04

Yes all very good points. If anyone one has any more please keep them coming and then I will start to search domain names etc.

Thanks again - I really appreciate it.

The Cheshire (location name) Balcony/Veranda Screen Centre

EatSpamAmandaLamb · 27/01/2017 16:08

If you are going to be a Sole Trader then having your name in the business name helps with cheques too.

How about something like The Secret Arbor then your blurb could covoer balconies, patios and any other outdoor space as well as gardens.

Hillfarmer · 27/01/2017 21:08

Yeah hel that was a pun on adorable! It may be a bit much admittedly.

Luffs a pun, me.

I'll think of something else. You might well be better off with something more 'searchable'.

MichaelSheensNextDW · 27/01/2017 21:17

Sanctum always reminds me of rectum (lowers tone, sorry).

English Garden Company
Garden Exchange
name & name (like Cox & Cox; could be something like Birch & Willow)

justilou · 27/01/2017 21:41

I've been thinking that perhaps you need to look up synonyms for "privacy" as that's why most people need these things (and your are especially beautiful, btw....) - Retreat, Den, Habitat, Haven, Arbor, Resort, Sanctuary, Seclusion - could be a one-word name to suit your company. We call them Privacy Screens in Australia.

HelpP1ease · 27/01/2017 22:43

Ah you are all so kind. I love these suggestions. I am going to go through them all tomorrow and think about how they sit with what we sell.

Thank you again everyone - really, really appreciate it.

I will definitely come back and update when the name is decided.
