to still be cross about the outcome of the EU referendum?

I'm still so angry and can't forgive those who voted to leave. After the result there was much talk of how the two sides must put aside their differences but I don't feel there has been any attempt to try to appease the 48.1% of people who voted to stay. I also want to rip the head off any one who says it's the will of the people. They should be legally obligated to say it's the will of 51.9 % of the people who voted. If the vote had gone the other way you can bet that UKIP would still be making a huge fuss about it but remainers are expected to "just get over it"!

There are people on an Aldi thread moaning about the increase in food prices - I can't help but think - did you think this through when you voted?

How can you possibly know how people voted?

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 05/02/2017 16:30

Well lets guess that 48% of them voted leave and those ones are getting exactly what they voted for and have no right at all to complain.

Or they are the ones that didn't vote leave and the people not on the thread/lurking did.

Love it - all you remainers still pissing and moaning, where did your get your crystal balls from?

Ta1kinPeace · 05/02/2017 16:55

Not Crystal ball.
Just rational assessment of the facts.

Its going to be bad.
Many of those who voted out will be the worst hit (esp in places like Boston and Stoke)
Ho hum.

Orangebird69 · 05/02/2017 16:56

Ta1kin, you don't know that. No one does.

Ta1kinPeace · 05/02/2017 16:57

I cannot be sure.
But a lot of the evidence points that way
and bugger all evidence points the other way.

addictedtorunning · 05/02/2017 17:01

I agree 100% with Ta1kin.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 05/02/2017 17:05

Draylon as the majority of people who bothererd to vote, voted out, there's not a chance most will be 'crawling' anywhere.

Draylon I can only go by what my dearest, nearest, friends, family, people I know say. 60% of those voted leave, I would say, and no one is regretting their vote. As you say, we'll see. Personally I can't see that changing.

WrongTrouser · 05/02/2017 17:36

Draylon You may think that leave voters have changed their minds, but there is absolutely no evidence to support this, either in polls on whether the referendum outcome was right or in polls on support for how TM is handling Brexit.

But I imagine that won't interest you as you have your magic ball.

Ta1kinPeace · 05/02/2017 17:39

Throughthick
The problem is that a lot of Leave voters are reading pro Leave media outlets and do not realise that we are driving at speed towards the edge of a cliff.

The UK economy is doing just fine because we are still in the EU

Folks like me are buying stuff before the pound falls and further
and while we can still import from mainland Europe without customs clearance

Some folks think that how we are now is what Brexit will look like so are feeling reassured.
They are in for a really nasty shock.

The number of immigrants will not drop other than because they will want to follow the jobs out of the UK
Tariff controls will be a massive cost to UK households
and Austerity will bite Brits really hard if there are not extra folks willing to do shitty jobs while living in dire conditions.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 05/02/2017 17:47

Ta1kin. I realise what you are saying. But remainers are convinced that Leavers should and will see the error of their ways. I am just giving a different POV. Me, DH, ds1(20) his gf (19), our very affluent and intelligent neighbours, our very poor and intelligent friends, our various ages and situation relatives; all those mentioned voted leave. As a Leaver, I talk to the Leavers I know. No one has changed their minds and would vote the same. They're not stupid people, and expect t be hit in their pockets. Remainers seem to think that's the point where Leavers think "oh". I can assure you that's not the case, in my circle anyway.

They're not stupid people, and expect t be hit in their pockets.
except that in a poll most leave voters did not expect it
nor were they willing to accept it

hence the nasty shock coming

addictedtorunning · 05/02/2017 17:52

I don't know many people who voted leave and will admit that a couple of them are very happy at how things are going god knows why but another couple have expressed deep regret. Only anecdotal I know, but I sure as hell don't know any remainers who wish they have voted to leave because they like the look of things now so much.

That link a while back about people being willing to lose up to a £100 per month maximum was very interesting, plenty in the YOU.GOV poll not willing to even lose that!

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 05/02/2017 17:54

Funny how people are suddenly concerned about the people of Stoke and Boston now.

These areas have been struggling for years, where has the concern been previously?

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 05/02/2017 17:56

Ta1kin, yes that's why I hear what you're saying. I can only comment on my own experience, and I think it's sad if people really did vote for utopia without thinking it through. It's going to be tough, very tough, and my leave 'circle' if you like, are fully aware. I grant you, a number of Leave voters haven't realised what they vote entails.

addictedtorunning · 05/02/2017 18:05

So why vote for it if it's going to be very tough? I just don't get it, maybe things will be better in 20 years time but I don't want life to be crap for the next two decades thanks Sad.

excellently put Draylon

birdybirdywoofwoof · 05/02/2017 18:19

None of the leavers I know (most of my family and many friends!) were remotely aware of the hardship to come - and That I understand.

It's the ones who voted knowing it's going to be 'tough, very tough' that really disturb me.
Thank you for throwing us under a bus.

Summerisdone · 05/02/2017 18:53

YABU it was many months ago so you have to now just accept the outcome and stop holding a grudge against what is done and won't be changed, also you live in a democracy so you cannot hold it against people when they have a difference of opinion or make different choices to you, so YABVU to say you 'cannot forgive them' as there is nothing to forgive.
