To wonder why some people are in denial about their weight?

Not criticising anyone here but just wondering.

I had a morbidly obese friend who says she is that size because she is muscular and has 'big bones'. I don't comment but she clearly has a lot of fat on her body and she does overeat.

I have come across other people too who say people are healthier these days so are going to be bigger. People say it is because of genetics. Everyone is overweight in their family and that is the reason they are.

I know weight loss isn't easy - trying to lose weight myself! - but surely pretending it is because of reasons outside of your control isn't going to help. People keep telling me I am fine and I don't need to lose weight. Err yes I do according to BMI. I am in the overweight category

Not denying the reasons for people who have real medical reasons such as disabilities or because of medication

Not everyone who has treatment with steroids puts on weight though. You are assuming it is a given.

I have friends who have been on steroids for years with no weight gain because they are super careful with their diet.

Op...You really seem to struggle with the concept that not everyone is the same..

HelenaDove · 25/01/2017 14:50

pencil You hate overweight ppl.

WE GET IT.

My DHs aunt was less than 7 stone ALL her life until her 70s when she had to take steroids. She ALWAYS watched what she ate When flare ups were bad she couldnt swallow. A few months before she passed away she couldnt eat.

Dont let that get in the way of your patient blaming which you are obviously enjoying.

And why the fuck would i want to risk taking this stuff IF i got ill after all the fucking work ive put in to lose the weight hmm? I WOULDNT TAKE THE RISK.

NO You and they would have to put your money where your mouths are. You cant have it both ways.

If you are concerned about obesity you should be supporting ppl in their decisions not to take certain meds.

But you arent concerned at all. You just need a group of people who you can gaslight, move the goalposts for and feel superior to.

You put this in your OP as well but now are saying the opposite so why should we believe anything else in your OP.

""Not denying the reasons for people who have real medical reasons such as disabilities or because of medication""

penciltop · 25/01/2017 15:04

Why are you being so aggressive Helena?

OP posts:
penciltop · 25/01/2017 15:06

Can someone report Helena's post saying Goady Fucker? My report button is not working. Thanks

Well why are you overweight? Plenty of people aren't overweight so why don't you just do what they do? I went shopping today and saw lots of slim people so it can be done. Why are they not overweight? What's your excuse?

See? We're all different aren't we.

Manumission · 25/01/2017 15:07

You are being fairly goady OP TBH. Unless there's some other reason for this strangely obsessive fixated thought?

Bibblewanda · 25/01/2017 15:08

She only spoke the truth op.

CompanyOfCats · 25/01/2017 15:15

Crips, I did first think about all of that but then thought that on balance, it must be the case that 'healthier' people (that was the word used by the poster before me) spend less of the public purse. That seems (again, I use this word, sorry)...obvious.

However, like you, I'd be very curious to see an informed lifetime estimate for those of a normal weight, or underweight and those who are classified as obese or morbidly obese. It'd make for fascinating reading but I wouldn't know where to start to find an authoritative set of figures.

Anybody?

penciltop · 25/01/2017 15:23

Well why are you overweight?

I ate too much!

OP posts:
FizzBombBathTime · 25/01/2017 16:37

I ate too much!

Don't you think you should work on yourself then before you start criticising others in the same boat? Jus sayin.

penciltop · 25/01/2017 17:13

I am not criticising!

I am working on myself, didn't you read my previous posts?

OP posts:
FizzBombBathTime · 25/01/2017 17:17

Yes, but you shouldn't feel the need to concern yourself with how others discuss/justify/deny their weight problems.

The fact that you have weight problems is irrelevant when you are being judgy and boarderline goady tbh. It doesn't give you a free pass to be nasty!!

Manumission · 25/01/2017 17:26

Bloody hell this is getting dull and circular.

Get some therapy *OP. People vary. They're not all exactly the same as you. Droning on that they ARE is a bit unusual.

VanillaSugar · 25/01/2017 17:26

I'd be happy to report, Helena, OP.

Eats shoots and leaves.

Yawn. Time to put this goady thread to bed 🐍💤💤💤💤💤💤💤💤💤💤💤💤💤💤💤💤💤💤💤💤💤💤💤💤💤💤💤💤💤💤💤💤💤💤💤💤💤🐛🐉

Manumission · 25/01/2017 17:43

I will if I ever become delusional.

Seriously OP, I'm not sure the Internet is the best place to work through your issue.

penciltop · 25/01/2017 17:50

Night Vanilla 🌚🌚🌚🌚🌚

You are now so make an appointment manumission

"if you metabolise sugar and fats far more efficiently than your neighbour, but live in a country where these things are scarce, then the effect is not going to be as obvious as in a country where they are in everything we eat."

Stormtreader - when I was talking about countries where people are thinner, I didn't mean countries with no processed foods at all. I meant some of the other countries in Europe where people aren't (yet!) as fat as here. Are you saying that Italians, for example, have 'thin genes'?

Gwenhwyfar · 25/01/2017 18:18

"Yes, but you shouldn't feel the need to concern yourself with how others discuss/justify/deny their weight problems. "

As many have pointed out, the obesity crisis affect us all - it's a society-wide problem. We all have the right to comment on it.
