What do you think about the evidence against Assange Pluto? Or should that be ignored because you like him?

user1484653592 · 20/01/2017 10:40

isn't it interesting that some of the most bigoted men on Earth, think farage, Aaron Banks, Trump have foreign born wives... wonder what Freud would make of this Wink

Maria Maples appantley still loves him so i do suspect both her and Ivana were dumped by the Donald not the other way around.

SparklyFuckingBusinessFairy · 20/01/2017 10:43

Agreeing with loveeverykindofcat here

Pluto30 · 20/01/2017 10:44

I think he should go to Sweden. I'm confident the case against him would never make it to trial.

Simple.

Brokenbiscuit · 20/01/2017 10:44

On a human level, I feel desperately sorry for Melania. She looks like a rabbit caught in the headlights, unsure of which way to run. She definitely doesn't look happy. I think the gilded cage metaphor is an apt one.

I don't know how she ended up married to Trump. I can only assume that it was for the money, and her choice betrays very poor judgement indeed. That doesn't mean that she deserves to be bullied by the bastard.

I'm sure that she is under a huge amount of pressure right now. I'm glad for her sake that she won't be living in the Whitehouse.

Pluto30 · 20/01/2017 10:46

dolly I think you'll find there are accusations that Bill's sexual indiscretions were not always consensual.

And Ted Buddy was intelligent and charismatic, what's that got to do with the price of eggs?

Aki23 · 20/01/2017 10:47

Wow that was a violent hand expression from Trump - I take from that he was annoyed that she didnt step right up Sad

I'd hazard a guess that language/culture barriers often keep those women that their intended spouse is a bit of an arse until it's too late! There is always a slight element of uncertainty when not speaking your first language, and if someone says something that sounds awful then you tend to think maybe you misunderstood. Then by the time you realise they're truly arses, you probably have kids and a life you're settled in; then I guess you just shrug and get on with your life (or at least most do) as upheaval would be too much hassle. It happens.

LaContessaDiPlump · 20/01/2017 10:49

...often keep those women FROM REALISING that......

twattymctwatterson · 20/01/2017 10:49

I feel sorry for her too. Both Trump's past wives have alleged he was abusive in every way. He raped Ivana, was financially abusive and Maria Marples has said he hit her. So it's very likely she's an abused woman. Whatever her reasons for marrying him she doesn't deserve that

lalalalyra · 20/01/2017 10:50

He had an affair with Maria didn't he? So Ivana divorced him, but he was already shagging someone else.

Also didn't he put some hefty gag clauses in their divorce? I'm sure he sued one of his ex-wives for breaching one. So not exactly 'get out if they want' more 'he's got someone else so they can go on his terms'.

DebbieDownersGiveItARest · 20/01/2017 10:55

well its a strange turn of events - marrying a business man then ending up as First Lady or First Lady once removed Grin - I think there are worse things that can happen to someone.

Bizarre situation.

Mistletoetastic · 20/01/2017 11:02

Has she Trumped?

MalletsMallets · 20/01/2017 11:04

Didnt trump say he doesn't believe in rape in marriage?

Anniegetyourgun · 20/01/2017 11:06

Bill Clinton is more than somewhat irrelevant to this thread, surely? Melania Trump is not and never has been married to Bill Clinton Confused Nor, as far as anyone can discover, did she have any kind of personal relationship with Ted Bundy, who is even less relevant as he was never in the frame for President Confused Confused.

I agree with the comment upthread that if Trump can manage to persuade a quarter of the US to vote him in as President he can surely manage to persuade a star-struck young woman, or three, as far as the altar. Schmoozing is his main stock in trade, after all. What happens after that, well, we can only wait and see.

ChippingInLovesWoollyHugs · 20/01/2017 11:07

I'm with Diddl & Bertrand. Completely staged. She knew she was going to speak.

She acts like a child.
He treats her like a child.

It's going to a long 4 years if he doesn't get impeached

Baylisiana · 20/01/2017 11:09

I cannot imagine why anyone feels sorry for her. She chose to marry a clearly horrible man, and chose to support him in reaching a position where he can inflict maximum damage on others. Shame on her. She may feel bad, but I bet not nearly as bad as she should feel.

Pluto30 · 20/01/2017 11:12

I assume you're intentionally being obtuse.

LadyGlitterSparklesSeriously · 20/01/2017 11:14

Why would he stage it though?

"Hey let's pretend you didn't want to speak but I made you, that'll impress everyone"

If it was staged it was very well done, too.

What brokenbiscuit said. Yes she may have been attracted by his money in what is an age-old equation - rich powerful man gets a wife who's much younger and more attractive than him. That doesn't mean it's OK to treat her with disrespect, which he has done and is doing for the world to see (not just the speech, but his revolting attitude to women in general and his obvious willingness to be unfaithful, and his attitude to immigrants - in her shoes I'd be fuming). And while he hasn't been convicted of anything, there's a mountain of evidence that he's not nice to women, to say the very least.

I'm really sorry for her, whatever her reasons for marrying him. As an immigrant whose first language isn't English she is not going to be able to do a Michelle that easily - Michelle is a Chicago lawyer who knows how to construct a speech and address a crowd, she knew the trajectory she was on and she had her husband's support. (Not that I'm saying Michelle isn't great, I bloody love her, just that she was in a much better position to do first lady-ing with flair.)

Also I sometimes think that where there's a language barrier / a couple have different first languages, it can mean that one partner doesn't really get why the other is a twat, at least initially. Do you know what I mean? It's possible to get things about people from how they talk and what they say, when it's your mother tongue, and that doesn't happen to the same degree when it's not. That gives him another layer of power given that it's his country they're in.

LuluLovesFruitcakes · 20/01/2017 11:15

Didnt trump say he doesn't believe in rape in marriage?

He did. And also subjected an ex-wife to a gag order forbidding her from speaking ill of him or about any abuse she may have suffered at his hands whilst married to him.

MalletsMallets · 20/01/2017 11:15

I've often felt if your other half has money it's very easy to feel "love"
order a takeaway when your too tired to cook, get a cleaner when your tired, get you a doctor when your sick, get a nanny to help with the kids.
That's before they've bought you a birthday gift, Or a meal in a restaurant.

I can see how being taken care of can Make you feel special and loved.
Money brings it's own issues and it's not a route I could chase but there's few problems that can't be solved or helped by throwing money at it.

MrsJayy · 20/01/2017 11:15

I think she is in over her head she doesnt want to be first lady she is shitting herself imo she hasn't got the words that Michelle has she can't articulate womens rights etc and I don't think she thought her husband would actually be president .

LadyGlitterSparklesSeriously · 20/01/2017 11:16

Why every thread on Donald Trump and/or his wife has to end up with some posters banging on about how awful Bill Clinton is too, is beyond me. But then maybe I'm being obtuse too.

If all you have to say in Trump's favour is that he's not as bad as some other guy, I think you should stay away from threads discussing him. You're not a great asset to his cause, really.
