'First' refers to the First Family, and all its members are First Spouse or Son or Daughter - 'First' doesn't refer to position within the First Family. All of Trump's children are First Daughter or First Son. (This is despite the fact that there are three different mothers, only one of whom is the First Lady).

I think it's possible to feel sorry for people who have made unwise choices, like Melania Trump. If she loves Donald and they have a great, mutually supportive respectful relationship she can laugh off the pity.

On the one hand my natural instinct towards anyone forced to share a bed with that toad is horror and sympathy. And then I remember she chose to marry that toad so my sympathy lessens somewhat. She definitely doesn't look happy at the turn her life has taken in becoming First Lady. I'm sure she'd prefer to live a life of relative anonymity in Manhattan. I say relative anonymity because no doubt she's reveled in the wealth and prestige that comes with marrying a very wealthy man. So on balance I don't hate her or anything but my advice would definitely be LTB.

I'd say melania clearly doesn't like the massive press attention, yes she was a model, but this is very different indeed. She's clearly very nervous in the huge media spotlight she's now under as well as public speaking and many many people would feel the same.

I'm not in agreement that should have prevented him from going for president, simply that if he gets it to then limit her role, which is exactly what's he's doing. After this his daughter is stepping in. Fair enough.

I suspect it's more a marriage of convenience now, but I don't know them and I don't know what goes on behind closed doors. She may agree with his views, she may agree with some and disagree with others. Like any marriage. She may love him, they have been together nearly twenty years, and like his previous wives she could have left.

I feel sorry for her only to the extent she's in a very unique situation with the media that only a hand full of people really ever go through and it clearly makes her nervous.

Quite the reverse in fact. I do believe that we are all human beings and capable of differing choices at differing times in our lives. I do not believe however, that our choice of partner however bad, necessarily reflects upon us. Like I said it does not make her ( Melania) a nasty person and deserving of all the hatred thrown at her.

Last year, whilst on holiday in Slovenia, where Melania is from, our tour guide said he knew her personally as she had lived close by. He said she was a lovely lady, who was still very down to earth, despite being famous. He went on to say that she was really keen to help her fellow Slovenians and had used her fame in a positive way to help her country and had carried out various good deeds. So she does sound like quite a nice person, so God only knows what she must think of Trump's behaviour during the election.

I'm guessing his life expectancy shortens each and every time he opens his obnoxious gob to speak.
