To think putting on pyjamas after swimming class at 5pm is a bit weird?

My DD has a swim lesson 4:15 to 4:45 and other children change into their pjs after their class. Is this the new thing? Never seen it before. Is this a little early to be in pjs?

I don't think it's weird at all.

YANBU. Must be the child version of the "going to Tescos in your pj's brigade."
Save them for when you get home and get some proper clothes on.

YABU. Why get dressed then less than 2 hours later, get changed into pyjamas again. I always do this with my DCs swimming lessons, it's great and they only have to do their teeth before bed.

Yes I would find that odd but some families have quite early bedtimes so I suppose it saves time?

I've seen this when I go swimming (thankfully without DC). I think it's because PJs are easy and quick to get on damp bodies, and means you can skip bath time. The kids at my pool are all in fleecy onesies which seems like a much better idea then getting them back into their dirty uniforms, or putting them into clean clothes for the couple of hours they're up before bed.

As long as they have a shower first I think it's fine. It's a bit grim to go to bed stinking of chlorine.

I think it's weird. Even more so in the summer. I see it all the time, our session is 4-4.30. I feel we need a bath after a visit to the pool. Wash off all the chlorine.

3 of mine come in from school and put a onesie on.

I always do this. Dd has a shower after swimmming straight into pj's.
Makes me cringe when children have a shower then put their school uniform back on and the same underwear!
We sometimes go to the supermarket on the way home.

Everyone used to do that at our swimming lessons in a really posh private school at first I thought it was weird, then we joined in and it seemed to save me loads of time in the evening - the kids arrived in uniform, often just shorts and t shirts, and could go home in lovely warm onesies. I'm a complete convert!

Why weird? I do this with my DC for the reasons Marzipants said. They have a shower first, and they're going straight home afterwards. I think it makes sense?

We do this. DS finishes swim at 5.30 had a shower, into pjs and onesie then home. He goes to bed not long after that

I always did this when my little ones class finished at 4.30. Showered her properly and then in to pjs - one less job to do after a late tea.

Depends on the age of the child. I do it with dd who's 4 and don't see a problem with it. Most kids in her class do it.

Our lessons were later so it was common - however some kids would get into them poolside - no shower. That's just wrong

Weirder to care. Obviously, they are getting into clothes that suit the activity they are off to (supper and bed)

DS get changed into his pj's when comes home from school unless it's bath night. It just makes it easier all round. I'd be putting him in pj's at swimming too tbh

Sounds lovely and cosy and generally brilliant to me.

When my DD was a toddler having 9am Saturday swim classes I used to bring her in her pyjamas rather than get her dressed to drive to swimming and get undressed again. Nobody else did this, and people used to remark on it (not in a snotty way AFAIK, more in a 'hey, cute jammies' way). I could never understand why everyone else didn't. We were always rushing round like blue arsed flies getting up and breakfasted and out on time anyway.

Why not? We go swimming, we shower, ds puts his onesie on. Nice and cosy, easier to put on, and clean. Thats usually at 5 when the session finishes. If I had a onesie, I'd put it on!
