My first name begins with a K.

HelenaGWells · 15/01/2017 08:33

I am decidedly not famous but I have been on tv more than once.

DH's Dad was Very Famous. He died in the 80's and had all sorts of mad celebrities at his funeral. He was best mates with Jimi Hendrix in the 60's, too, and DH had a weird childhood filled with celebrity Godparents and Christmas gifts from rock stars.

DH is famous in his field and attends lots of things as 'guest speaker' to pull people in. I'm a teacher so am categorically not. Having listened to the shenanigans of DH's childhood, I'm quite glad I'm not. It's not always an enjoyable life.

My brother is a professional football player for a premier league team. He likes the quiet life though. Lives with his partner in south staffs and whilst he does get invited to some flashy sounding events he tends to stay at home, he is still young and is a home bird. My dd worships him. It's odd when I'm out and about and I see people with our surname printed on their backs. But I'm so unbelievably proud of him, I get choked up when I see him play 😊

joystir59 · 15/01/2017 08:44

I'm famous in my very small world

Strongmummy · 15/01/2017 08:49

I am famous, yes. So is my DH........,

LuluJakey1 · 15/01/2017 08:49

Yes, I am a famous author. I have had 2 letters published in our local paper complaining about the council and their decisions re:the timings and co-ordination of local roadworks. I am regularly stopped in the street and asked to be in selfies.

LuluJakey1 · 15/01/2017 08:50

Also, DS squeals when I go to collect him from nursery and rushes up and mobs me.

fairiedemon · 15/01/2017 08:57

I'm not but my DH is. He has social media but he doesn't touch it, it's run by his 'team'. We aim for the quiet life!

Sparklingbrook · 15/01/2017 09:02

Re 'mumsnet royalty'. Which has nothing to do with anything on this thread. Why do people claim to know who they are but never name them? Confused

frumpet · 15/01/2017 09:08

I am very much not famous , which is a good thing as I have a tendency to write rubbish on the internet when I have had too much wine and also when I haven't . So could be DT Grin

lljkk · 15/01/2017 09:08

Being famous means that MNers slag you off. Woohoo. What am I missing out on, again?

Albadross · 15/01/2017 09:10

I've sung for royalty and been in the tabloid press a few times.

joystir59 · 15/01/2017 09:12

WhooooAmI24601 I am fascinated! Could be anyone from Bob Marley to John Lennon. Where was the celebrity funeral held?

Nipperknight · 15/01/2017 09:12

Not famous in the slightest and quite happy about that.
It must be hard to be in the spotlight and have every move scrutinised.

SemiNormal · 15/01/2017 09:12

Not famous. Don't think I would like to be either. I'm not someone who gushes over celebrities usually but if I met Dolly Parton I would be a complete mess, I just love her!

Devilishpyjamas · 15/01/2017 09:13

Ds2 did quite a lot of kid acting. After his first show with a Big Star he walked out of stage door into a wall of middle aged women (honestly it was ridiculous, I had to push to the front to be able to meet ds2 -he was the only child in the show so there wasn't a group meeting point - & one woman was trying to get ds2 to introduce her to Big Star). I will always remember the look of complete confusion on his face as he walked out, followed by 'why are all these women here?'

I think he went off the idea of fame at that moment (very intrusive).

joystir59 · 15/01/2017 09:13

I was all set to go on Bargain Hunt once, but couldn't get that day off work. Does that count?

joystir59 · 15/01/2017 09:14

Oh yes, and my friend's son was a doctor in Casualty a few years ago

joystir59 · 15/01/2017 09:16

and our friend was a bus driver in Call The Midwife

joystir59 · 15/01/2017 09:17

And my ex-boss's wife was in The Bill

joystir59 · 15/01/2017 09:19

I was in a double page spread in the Evening Standard once for being homeless at Heathrow airport

Glitterywillows · 15/01/2017 09:19
