To be told if a boy is sleeping with the girls at girl guides camp

Babieseverywhere · 12/01/2017 09:49

The guides have changed their guidance on boys attending meeting, trips and over night stays.

Previously the rule was no boys allowed.

Now all boys allowed but don't tell the girls or parents, unless the boy and his parents give permission !

There are already a massive amount of forms for attending rainbows, brownies, guides or Senior section which need signing, from permissions for photos to health and safety for activities but if a boy want to watch my 10yo undress that is ok and no one will be asking permission from my daughter or us !

How can this be legal ? Do girls have no rights in the UK in 2017 ?

Thanks for starting this thread OP - lots to think about...

RacoonBandit · 12/01/2017 18:04

Britain have you just pulled out every mumsnet saying and phrase you could find to write that post? Utter tripe.

I would also suggest you stop being ignorant regarding science and the 2 sexes that exsist.

FishInAWetSuitAndFlippers · 12/01/2017 18:04

JigglyTuff my child uses accessible toilets and changing facilities right now. But are being heavily pressured by the school to use facilities for the sex they present as. This has only recently come about. We were quite happy before people started fighting for rights that we don't want and won't help anyone.

AVirginLitTheCandle · 12/01/2017 18:05

britainteascones how can someone who has a penis be a girl?

JigglyTuff · 12/01/2017 18:08

I'm really sorry Fish - if you're not the poster who has posted about this before, I'm really horrified at this mission creep. It's awful that children are being used to further a political agenda.

RacoonBandit · 12/01/2017 18:09

Fish just wanted to thank you for your posts. They have been measured, informative and heartfelt. Your child/ren is very lucky to have such a parent and will always do well in life given the amount of support and love you clearly have for them.

titchy · 12/01/2017 18:14

For the trans woman who has just been raped, it would actually be FAR more appropriate for them to access a male rape crisis centre, given that they'll have been penetrated anally.

titchy · 12/01/2017 18:17

Can something positive come out of this thread - can we petition GGUK to reconsider their stance and preserve GG as female only? It wouldn't be anti trans as obviously trans boys would be welcome. In fact trans boys would benefit hugely as they'll will often have started as Rainbows and moved up the groups, so might want to remain with their friends. This policy would actually exclude them....

midcenturymodern · 12/01/2017 18:19

I mean how do you all know that transactivists say such things? In person? Online?

Yes. I work in a university

VestalVirgin · 12/01/2017 18:20

So we're not supposed to do any class analysis at all?

Of course not. Class analysis might lead to becoming a radical feminist. Class analysis is eeeeevil.

Kr1stina · 12/01/2017 18:24

Surely a trans woman would access a trans rape centre? I don't known how many of them there are, but I assume that trans activists are fundraising and campaigning for more of them. Just as women do for women's rape crisis centres .

derxa · 12/01/2017 18:30

Why remove the best thing about guides, the escape from the male gaze and the enjoyment of a girl only space. Something even one male bodied child will remove however well he performs. Your posts are so clear OP.
I have no idea why the Guides would go down this route. I have sympathy with boys who have gender dysphoria but they are boys.

augustbody · 12/01/2017 18:42

Gosh, the way the women are being criticised for daring to want to protect female spaces, you would think that men are just oh so welcoming to women who would like to access what are traditionally 'mens spaces' (eg. Golf clubs, certain jobs, certain hobbies).

It was very handy for Caitlyn Jenner that she still has enough man parts to apparently be able to still get into his 'men only' golf club.

Go online and see what the TRAs say about women. Some of it is quite shocking. See what they say about women's genitalia and what they think should happen to it - whilst insisting that they are 'literally biological women' themselves. And no, it's not a minority. In fact, you would not be blamed for thinking they were representative of all trans because they are the most vocal.

Transgender reality is a good place to start. They were set up to help parents of trans children take a more critically analytical approach to the ideology. They say it how it is, but without linking to the more extreme viewpoints.

transgenderreality.com/

And no, I'm not suggesting that children are coming at it from this angle at all. However a poster on here told of five children in her daughter's class coming out as trans simultaneously (and victimising her daughter who was a lesbian and had expressed her unwillingness to sleep with somebody with a penis). The sheer proliferation of children turning to transgenderism, (particularly girls) says a lot about the dissatisfaction with current gender stereotypes.

I don't know what the answer is. But I do know that it needs a hell of a lot of scrutiny before one takes it at face value.

Datun · 12/01/2017 18:56

Also, if anyone is interested, there is a programme this evening on BBC2 at 9 PM about trans children and the best approach to take.

I find your stance laughable. On one hand you rubbish a piece of research because of SCIENCE, and on the other, when asked the perfectly reasonable question why exactly anyone should believe this particular subset of biological men is any less violent than biological men in general, you come out with the twee guff about their presumed feeelz. Not very SCIENCE, is it? I guess it gets in the way of the furious virtue signalling.

But do post up the studies which demonstrate this. I'm sure you have some, right?

robinofsherwood · 12/01/2017 19:33

I get that there are reasons why some of you feel so strongly about transgender issues but I feel that if there is a radical trans element plotting to take over all womens spaces then some of the comments play to their agenda.

This was a post about a potential child, 10 or under. But, like every trans related post Ive ever seen on here responses have brought up bearded men in suits saying they are women, the risk of rape, violent crime etc.

A year or so ago, I wanted to become more active in my feminism. This site was one of my first points of call

RacoonBandit · 12/01/2017 19:38

The thread has evolved Robin as most threads do. Yes the original post was about a male child accessing female spaces which does lead to the question will they want the same access as adults?

Oh and the bearded man in a suit is Danielle Muscato who has declared himself a women. So given this thread is about males in females spaces I don't think it is so off the topic to show a picture of what a self defining woman can look like.

titchy · 12/01/2017 19:39

This was a post about a potential child, 10 or under

No it wasn't. It was about kids aged up to 17.

robinofsherwood · 12/01/2017 19:43

Argh posted too soon. This site was one of my first points of call & I couldnt find any information on feminist issues because every post on the board seemed to be about how awful trans activists are. Talk about taking over womens spaces. You can also find anti trans jokes on normal posts

I ended up backing right off and found myself getting involved in a group that is very open to trans members. None of whom have ever tried to take over or mansplain.

There are lots of important conversations to have but it would be great to have them while giving the extremist views the airtime they deserve - none - rather than buying the idea that they represent all trans people

titchy · 12/01/2017 19:46

Do you know what - having re-read the guidance OP linked to, I'm not exactly sure what their policy is.

It refers throughout to trans persons. Not trans girls. So maybe it is only referring to female members who have identified themselves as trans? Which would be perfectly OK.

Does anyone know?

HardofCleaning · 12/01/2017 19:46

For the trans woman who has just been raped, it would actually be FAR more appropriate for them to access a male rape crisis centre, given that they'll have been penetrated anally.

What? So a woman who was born female should access a male rape crisis clinic if she gets anally raped?

HermioneWeasley · 12/01/2017 19:53

We were discussing this last night and my DS (aged 9) said "girl is not an idea"

I think that sums it up nicely.

RacoonBandit · 12/01/2017 19:54

No Hard a male crisis centre was suggest because a transwomen is male therefore a male rape crisis centre would be better suited to supporting them through their trauma.

Sugarlightly · 12/01/2017 19:54

What about people with both sets of genitalia? Where do they go? Do they just have to pick one and have it chopped off?

What about people with sex chromosome disorders, like Klinefelterss/XXY?
