neighbour using my drive when I'm out.

I came home early this morning just after 11am as i have had a chest infection since before Xmas and was struggling at work.
When I got home there were two cars on my drive, one park almost touching my front window and the other one at an angle beside it.
This is the only way to get two cars on the driveway so whoever it was parking there must know the driveway well and how to get two cars on it.
Outside on the road is permit parking and no parking between 10 and 12am.
This is to stop commuters and shoppers parking as we are five minutes from a huge indoor shopping centre.
I had to park behind them blocking them in and blocking the pavement also.
I left a note on my car for the traffic warden
Please knock on door as I have to obstruct the pavement due to two illegally parked cars on my drive.
half an hour later my next door neighbour in his 70's who we NEVER see knocks on my door.
Totally unapologetic and says one car belongs to his wife's carer as she cant park on the road due to restrictions and the other is a neighbour from up the road who uses our driveway when we are at work as her driveway is not big enough.
Even though I was fuming he still just didnt seen to think it was a problem even saying.
Well when your at work your not using it and at least it makes it look like some one is home.
I told him to get them moved straight away.
The carer came round looking really sheepish and asked would I mind if she parked during the restrictions between 10 and 12 as she has been given a ticket in the past. I said fine if no one is in but why cant my neighbour move his car off his drive to enable his wife's carers to park. He cant afford £40 a year to pay for a permit for his carers?
The other car nearly touching my front window is still there so I have put a not on it.
Caroline, I have reported your car to the police as an abandoned vehicle. Since then Nicholas has told me he gave you permission to park here. Nicholas has no business or authority to use our driveway. It would have been polite and neighbourly to at least have asked permission. If your car is parked on my driveway again I will be reporting you to the police.
Tomorrow if I am feeling better I am off the B&Q to buy a chain and paddlock so they cant use my drive!

Ohhh a parking thread

Cherylene · 09/01/2017 17:49

She's got dry, frizzy greying hair

No - it will be expensively blonde and highlighted and entitled (probably coerced at 'mates rates' from a hairdresser friend.)

nothing wrong with grey frizzy hair

Andrewofgg · 09/01/2017 17:50

Another vote for a chain. Pity about the carer - if it was just her it might be different. But she goes down with Caroline. TNS about it and keep us informed because parking threads are the best of the best of the best!

LadyPenelopeCantDance · 09/01/2017 17:51

This is what I imagine Caroline to look like.

neighbour using my drive when I'm out.
Rachel0Greep · 09/01/2017 17:51

So are there three cars on the drive now? We need a diagram Wink...
Oh I loved the penguin bollards thread!

Chickenagain · 09/01/2017 17:52

Blatant place marking!

SnatchedPencil · 09/01/2017 17:52

YANBU, it is outrageous. To dress it up like he's doing you a favour is taking the piss to an extreme level.

At least you know what he's like now - presumably he won't mind you letting yourself into his home while they are out - after all, it will deter burglars!

mya83 · 09/01/2017 17:52

.

dowhatnow · 09/01/2017 17:53

I disagree because she will be terribly embarrassed because Nicholas told her she could park there. She is of a nervous disposition. and has grey, frizzy hair

OhSuckItUpDucky · 09/01/2017 17:54

Bet Caroline wears pearls and a nice cardi

LemonRedwood · 09/01/2017 17:55

Oh I shouldn't have clicked on this thread! There's so much I'm supposed to be doing this evening that now won't get done.

Especially as I need to read the penguin bollards thread now too.

dowhatnow · 09/01/2017 17:56

Rachel I think Nicholas has moved his car. so Caroline's is nearly touching the window and the ops DH has blocked her in.

WipsGlitter · 09/01/2017 17:56

We suspect our neighbors did this as well. Our drive us sort of open to the road (private road) and once I came back early to find cars parked there - think our neighbour told her friends it would be ok.

kittybiscuits · 09/01/2017 17:56

I wouldn't be too easily taken in by Caroline. She's pure filth underneath.

Celaena · 09/01/2017 17:57

Hasn't she moved it yet?

BabychamSocialist · 09/01/2017 17:58

Yep bollards. We had the issue with some arseholes parking at the end of our drive (we live fairly near to a train station) - they stopped pretty quickly when one swung round the corner one morning and straight into a bollard. Serves them right!

EweAreHere · 09/01/2017 17:58

Where oh where is Caroline?

And I now need a penguin bollard. Just because.

PlumsGalore · 09/01/2017 17:58

I would ask nicho,as who tge hell Caroline was and hunt her down.

birdladyfromhomealone · 09/01/2017 17:58

The carer moved her car after Nicholas came knocking but he told me he would get Caroline to move hers too!
Her bonnet is almost touching my front window!
How do I do a diagram and add it please?
I am going to tell Nicholas tomorrow that I want £5 a day for his carer? Shall I?

I love a good parking thread!

Has Caroline come back?!

TheTantrumCometh · 09/01/2017 17:59

ShockShockShock

What rude cunts. Definitely get the padlock or penguin bollards

thegoodnameshadgone · 09/01/2017 17:59

I am dying to know if Caroline will knock to ask you to move your car 🚗

Tarrarra · 09/01/2017 18:00

This goes beyond cheeky. You need to tell all of them that you will not be giving permission as you require access to your drive at all times. It's going to be a nightmare if you say yes and then need access if you're off sick or on leave. Just say NO.

My neighbour asks occasionally to use my drive, but he asks before he uses it, and never ever presumes that it will be ok.

AwaywiththePixies27 · 09/01/2017 18:00

CCTV for your drive. Padlock and chain for your gates to your drive.

Possibly one for any further gates to your house and garden too in case they start helping themselves to tea and biscuits from your kitchen whilst you aren't there...

A neighbour of ours behind goes away for two weeks every year. Another neighbour goes away at the same time and the first one is allowed to use second neighbours drive to park his car up whilst he's away. Difference is, he asked.

OP. Chest infections are awful. Hope you're feeling better soon Flowers

Lunde · 09/01/2017 18:01

I'd just chain the drive when out and make the neighbour responsible for the carer's parking arrangements
