neighbour using my drive when I'm out.

I came home early this morning just after 11am as i have had a chest infection since before Xmas and was struggling at work.
When I got home there were two cars on my drive, one park almost touching my front window and the other one at an angle beside it.
This is the only way to get two cars on the driveway so whoever it was parking there must know the driveway well and how to get two cars on it.
Outside on the road is permit parking and no parking between 10 and 12am.
This is to stop commuters and shoppers parking as we are five minutes from a huge indoor shopping centre.
I had to park behind them blocking them in and blocking the pavement also.
I left a note on my car for the traffic warden
Please knock on door as I have to obstruct the pavement due to two illegally parked cars on my drive.
half an hour later my next door neighbour in his 70's who we NEVER see knocks on my door.
Totally unapologetic and says one car belongs to his wife's carer as she cant park on the road due to restrictions and the other is a neighbour from up the road who uses our driveway when we are at work as her driveway is not big enough.
Even though I was fuming he still just didnt seen to think it was a problem even saying.
Well when your at work your not using it and at least it makes it look like some one is home.
I told him to get them moved straight away.
The carer came round looking really sheepish and asked would I mind if she parked during the restrictions between 10 and 12 as she has been given a ticket in the past. I said fine if no one is in but why cant my neighbour move his car off his drive to enable his wife's carers to park. He cant afford £40 a year to pay for a permit for his carers?
The other car nearly touching my front window is still there so I have put a not on it.
Caroline, I have reported your car to the police as an abandoned vehicle. Since then Nicholas has told me he gave you permission to park here. Nicholas has no business or authority to use our driveway. It would have been polite and neighbourly to at least have asked permission. If your car is parked on my driveway again I will be reporting you to the police.
Tomorrow if I am feeling better I am off the B&Q to buy a chain and paddlock so they cant use my drive!

I am trying to think of some constructive advice but, honestly, I just want to know what happens when caroline turns up...

kittybiscuits · 09/01/2017 17:37

Cheeky bastards! Will you be nipping back to try out the chain and padlock when they are on the drive?

dowhatnow · 09/01/2017 17:37

Perhaps caroline will get her DH to come for it id she's scared.

cartersgate · 09/01/2017 17:38

I'm getting nothing done tonight then...at least not until Caroline comes to get her car. Wink

AlwaysLookOnBrightsideOfLife · 09/01/2017 17:38

Anyone else thinking Caroline will now leave her car there until morning in the hope the OP goes to work?

Cheeky beggars. YANBU OP!

Chippednailvarnishing · 09/01/2017 17:40

Can we have photos OP?

riceuten · 09/01/2017 17:40

To have not asked you before is bloody cheeky. I can't be doing with this guilt tripping nonsense of "Oh I will get a ticket otherwise". Tough.

I had a similar experience with our garage to day (which is in constant use). A school run hysterical mum had parked in front of it and was beginning to unpack - I went over and asked her to move it - her first comment to me ? "Well, where am I supposed to fucking park then?"..in front of her toddler. I responded "Do I look like a parking warden?"

It's this pathetic entitlement culture I have no time for. They believe they are entitled to use your drive, sadly

Cromwell1536 · 09/01/2017 17:40

Go knock on Caroline's door, pleeeeassee! OP! I know you're sick (and I hope you get better soon) but perhaps you will manage to pass your chest infection on to the cheeky mare as a bonus. Chapeau, OP, I would totally go postal (used to have a sizeable drive off a busy main road - people would turn in it, park in it to deliver elsewhere, it is annoying, but for a neighbour to behave like that - sheesh!)

MadMags · 09/01/2017 17:41

Have you been signed off sick, OP? I would hate for Caroline to get away with it!

Ooh a parking thread

TheCatsMother99 · 09/01/2017 17:42

I can'e believe neither neighbour actually spoke to you about it... cheeky mofos.

I can't wait to hear if Caroline knocks on your door to apologise (although I highlty doubt it).

Have you ever met Caroline before?

itsawonderfulworld · 09/01/2017 17:42

The original Penguin bollards thread

Warning: you won't get anything done for a few hours (there's a second one as well) but it's worth it.

You're welcome Grin

dowhatnow · 09/01/2017 17:42

When caroline arrives we need a detailed description of her. I'm thinking 45 - 50, quite slim and of short stature for some reason. She's got dry, frizzy greying hair and will be nervously wringing her hands.

SharkSkinThing · 09/01/2017 17:42

Me too, carters.

kittybiscuits · 09/01/2017 17:43

Oh Carolina...Grin

Gladysmum · 09/01/2017 17:44

Marking my place Grin

CakeUpWall · 09/01/2017 17:44

I only tune in for the parking threads these days...

MycatsaPirate · 09/01/2017 17:45

WTAF?

Please both of you get taxi's to and from work for the foreseeable future until Caroline has the guts to knock on your door and ask you to free her car.

What a cheeky pair of cunts!!

Blatherskite · 09/01/2017 17:46

I too think that Caroline is leaving her car there and hoping that you go to work tomorrow morning so that she can retrieve it without having to face you.

I'm hoping you get better Op but not before Caroline has been told off Wink

Nocabbageinmyeye · 09/01/2017 17:46

Come one Caroline you cheeky cunt show yourself!

Can you are her curtains twitching op?

Flucker · 09/01/2017 17:47

Caroline needs a slap! Cheeky bitch!

Keep her blocked in, even if it means one of you have to find an alternative way to travel to work. If she knocks for her car tonight, it would be a terrible shame if you and your DH have been drinking, wouldn't it?! nudge nudge wink wink

I came home from work once to find a lazy school run cow parked on my drive. I blocked her in by larking across my drive and went to the shop at the top of the road, walking back the very long way. All I got when I got back was abuse - how dare I block her in, did I know how late I'd made her etc. I pointedly got something ou of my car, locked it, walked last her and into my house. I could see through the window that she was on the phone to someone so I walked back out, actually on the phone to my parents but made out I was speaking to the police. "It would be ever so good of you to send an officer around straight away, thank you so much" kinda thing. I moved my car and told her exactly what right I had to block her in. I haven't seen her since!

Stick to your guns OP!

kelper · 09/01/2017 17:48

I sometimes wish my neighbours carers would park on my driveway, as they are appalling drivers and parkers and regularly block the road 🙄
However your neighbours are total pisstakers, and I can't wait for caroline to come and ask for her car back ;)

JanuaryMoods · 09/01/2017 17:48

I think we need a diagram.

Bibblitybob · 09/01/2017 17:48

Let the air out of Carolines tires so an abandoned broken car has to be towed.
