To say no to courier.

Amazon courier just asked to use the loo. I was alone in the house with a baby. I said no and immediately dropped a note to Amazon to say I wasn't impressed that it made me feel uncomfortable.

I feel a bit bad now...remind me that I did the right thing please?!

Eh?

I don't understand the update?

1horatio · 08/01/2017 17:51

I would have said no and calmly told him why. I wouldn't have contacted amazon, I feel like this is ott and quite rude.

expatinscotland · 08/01/2017 17:54

And? Maybe he never put his clock back. You were beyond rude to email Amazon.

JacquesHammer · 08/01/2017 17:54

but customers houses aren't the solution

Why not? You were totally within your rights to say no. I would have said yes, so my house was the solution.

It isn't an issue - he put you in absolutely NO position by asking because he simply accepted your response and left.

melj1213 · 08/01/2017 17:56

wow I can't believe they would drop him for that.. I definately wouldn't have raised it to them if I'd expected that outcome.

So what did you expect? At the very least he would have had some disciplinary action, a formal written complaint from a customer will be taken seriously and when the person is more than likely an independant contractor, any kind of complaint will make it easier to fire the guy/not renew his contract.

I personally don't think it's rude for anyone to ask the question, provided they are willing to accept a "No, sorry" as graciously as they would accept a "Yes, of course". I am sure he was expecting you to be wary of letting strangers into the house and was more than likely already expecting your answer to be no, but if you're getting desperate it's worth asking, just in case you had said yes.

If he had been agressive, acted intimidatingly, refused to take no for an answer, or was generally rude then I would have definitely said you should email them, but that would be for his response and behaviour being inappropriate, not for his initial polite request.

Bluntness100 · 08/01/2017 17:57

Op, what's the point of the update please? Why have you got it in for this guy?

And no to answer your question, they are given parcels a route and they get a very low rate of pence per delivery with an expectation of a huge amount delivered per hour. There is no bladder control training. 🙄

crashdoll · 08/01/2017 17:57

So, it was someone pretending to be an amazon courier? Really?!

For God's sake, OP, did you really not know that he may lose his job for that? Hmm

He asked politely, said 'ok' and walked away. He wasn't belligerent, rude, pushy or anything.

I think it was quite awful of you to do that!

Aeroflotgirl · 08/01/2017 17:59

This does not make you sound like a very nice person, and the more you post the worse it gets!

anannoyinglylongusername · 08/01/2017 17:59

I think it's much more likely he filled out the card incorrectly but my neighbour is going to look into with Amazon.

but my neighbour is going to look into with Amazon

Wow - quite the tag team to ensure the poor guy loses his job

Aeroflotgirl · 08/01/2017 18:01

Look into what op, that he politely asked you to use your toilet. Drop it now, it is looking very bad for you.

crashdoll · 08/01/2017 18:01

I feel like you're backtracking to prove a point.....

ThymeLord · 08/01/2017 18:01

You're trying to make out that he was a bogus delivery guy now? Right.

anannoyinglylongusername · 08/01/2017 18:01

Aeroflot you are not sounding so pleasant yourself!

I got my questions answered so I'll drop out now thank you

Aeroflotgirl · 08/01/2017 18:01

If I was your neighbour, I would be telling you to politely to f off and stop bothering me.

ShatnersBassoon · 08/01/2017 18:03

The note left by their amazon courier was timed an hour before he knocked on my door and said the parcel was left behind their gate....

Aha! Busted!

Confused

I have no idea what your update indicates. They got two parcels? The courier likes to mess with people by playing hide and seek with their parcels? He's creating an elaborate alibi to gain unprovable access to private bathrooms?

DontTouchTheMoustache · 08/01/2017 18:06

I've had it a few times where card has been incorrectly filled out (e.g. returned to depo when actually left at back door). They probably fill them.out on autopilot

anannoyinglylongusername · 08/01/2017 18:08

Looks like he came back for it per their cctv. He must have thought better of leaving it behind the gate. They can see him pull back up retrieve the parcel, then go to the house opposite - that's all they can see but presumably he knocked on me next

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 08/01/2017 18:08

Why on earth would you take up an incorrectly filled card with Amazon if you've got your parcel safely?? Your neighbour is behaving as spitefully as you!

He's definitely out of a job and he will know why.

joangray38 · 08/01/2017 18:11

@boundaries asking for a glass of water, needing to use the loo, can't remember the last one

ArcheryAnnie · 08/01/2017 18:11

You didn't have to let him in to use your loo if you didn't want to, but it was mean and uncalled for to complain to Amazon about him asking. You may well have cost him his job, as they are pretty brutal to a lot of their workers. And it's really disingenuous to just claim you are making Amazon "aware" of the situation. You really think they don't know that already?

RacoonBandit · 08/01/2017 18:11

You and your neighbor need a new hobby. hmm

crashdoll · 08/01/2017 18:11

It's lucky your neighbours have CCTV. Do you live in a high crime area?
