To say no to courier.

Amazon courier just asked to use the loo. I was alone in the house with a baby. I said no and immediately dropped a note to Amazon to say I wasn't impressed that it made me feel uncomfortable.

I feel a bit bad now...remind me that I did the right thing please?!

Because if he's fired he'll know where you live and a fiend like he is will obviously at least think of doing something nefarious Wink

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 09/01/2017 15:59

Nefarious Grin I love that word. As you were.

igotnotimeforthis · 09/01/2017 16:12

ArcheryAnnie
In reply yo your last question: you say so what if the guy had malicious intent.
Well IF (and as posters have stated it's a small chance, but still a chance) he did, wouldn't it be better to report him than for him to keep asking access to people's homes ?

Aeroflotgirl · 09/01/2017 16:20

ignot, don't be so silly and dramatic. It is very sad that a simple request for the toilet, a basic human right, is met with such reactions like op and ignot, what a very sad world we live in.

ilovesooty · 09/01/2017 16:21

I can't believe posters are continuing to justify reporting him just on the off-chance that he's a potential criminal.

BertrandRussell · 09/01/2017 16:21

No. Because of course he didn't have nefarious intent. What with him being completely identifiable and trackable and all. And he may very well now have lost his job.

ArcheryAnnie · 09/01/2017 16:28

igotnotimeforthis I am now wondering if you report the postie, the pizza guy, the meter-readers, etc etc.

I'm as safety-conscious as anyone else here, and I absolutely stand up for the right of any woman to enforce whatever boundaries she likes in not letting men into the space she controls. That's not an issue here! Some men are indeed incredibly opportunistic about committing violence on women, and so seriously, she doesn't want him in her house, she doesn't let him in, job done.

To construct a scenario where this delivery guy absolutely has to be reported just in case he's really an ax murderer is utterly outstandingly batshit and precious, though, and especially so when the consequences for him are likely to be very harsh.

ArcheryAnnie · 09/01/2017 16:31

A question for you, igotnotimeforthis: if this guy did have malicious intent, why would he just leave when the OP said no, you can't use my loo? Her door was open, he is likely to be stronger than her, etc etc. What about the scenario which actually happened - the guy just leaving - would lead anyone to think he had malicious intent?

myusernamewastaken · 09/01/2017 16:53

Op perhaps you can let me know where you work, so i can come in and make a spurious complaint against you and jeopardise your employment.

JacquesHammer · 09/01/2017 17:14

I answered the door to the postman today. I turned my back to put down the packages before signing.

I feel very lucky to be still here

harshbuttrue1980 · 09/01/2017 17:21

Well done, OP! You've probably managed to get someone sacked. If there was any justice in the world, your karma would come back at you and make you suffer from IBS. Then you'd know what it was like to need the loo urgently and have to rely on the kindness of others. If you can't be kind enough to let another human being use your loo, at least don't be spiteful enough to report them for just asking to meet a human need.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 09/01/2017 18:06

So I don't think the poster was being 'stupid' at all, just remembering something she had read or heard

Really you seriously think that might be part of the Common Law of Scotland?

bonfireheart · 09/01/2017 18:36

I'm suprised the man hasn't been arrested yet.

user1483804139 · 09/01/2017 19:16

I don't blame you for not letting him in. It's your home and your right to accept it decline. I wouldn't of bothered with Amazon though. He probably just got caught a bit short and thought nothing of it to ask.

mrtumblesmistress · 09/01/2017 19:45

Oh for heavens sake!!

She paid for a service, wasn't satisfied with it and made the service provider aware.

Just because we wouldn't all do the same doesnt justify some of your hideous responses.

It's fine to disagree, it's invited in aibu but some of you are nothing better than a mobv of bullies.

Aeroflot what are you on about campaigning for Amazon workers instead of complaining? last time you complained in a restaurant did you consider to complain for better rights for kitchen workers too???

have the rest of you lynch mob never complained about a service you received? did you consider how it would impact on the employee? perhaps that call centre employee you complained about was fired - did you care??

Amazon being a shit employer is not something op was required to know.

Some of you need to the look in the mirror - bullying is disgusting in any form and some of your posts are far worse than anything op did

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 09/01/2017 19:48

I agree Mrtumbles (strictly speaking it wasn't her parcel so even less reason for letting him in)

Gwenhwyfar · 09/01/2017 19:56

"have the rest of you lynch mob never complained about a service you received?"

Yes, but not when the person had done nothing wrong.

TheresABluebirdOnMyShoulder · 09/01/2017 20:07

perhaps that call centre employee you complained about was fired - did you care??

Yes, if I ever complained about somebody who actually did nothing wrong and my complaint resulted in them losing their job I would absolutely care. Which is exactly why I would never make such an unwarranted complaint in the first place.

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 09/01/2017 20:41

Did you read the article I linked to Lass?

It certainly explains where the poster got the idea from.

DryHeave · 09/01/2017 20:45

After suffering the effects of tradespoos recently, I'd be inclined to say no as well. Unless he assured me it was only a wee.

SoupDragon · 09/01/2017 21:00

Do you shit rainbows and glitter then?

BertrandRussell · 09/01/2017 21:06

""have the rest of you lynch mob never complained about a service you received?"
Yes of course. How is that relevant?

1horatio · 09/01/2017 21:10

Have I ever made a complaint?

Yes. Once. Because of medical misconduct in connection with personal data.

Not exactly comparable to this.

ilovesooty · 09/01/2017 21:23

No I'm not in the habit of making complaints when the person has done nothing wrong. What a strange suggestion.

Bananabread123 · 09/01/2017 22:01

Lots of jumping to conclusions that delivery drivers 'must' have been sacked. Amazon will be primarily be interested in whether the delivery driver is reliable and punctual... if he is both of these things, then he's an asset to Amazon... Amazon may be tough but they'll be focussed on keeping such people. It's not in their interests to be trigger happy and fire people for trivial matters.
