To not shower every day

To make it clear, I do have a wash every day but I don't see the need to actually shower or bathe every single morning. was talking to people at work about it, most of the women seemed to agree with me whilst the men thought it was weird that we didn't have a whose presence every single morning. Aibu to be washed but not showered every day?

I grew up in a hot area of the world where it was routine to shower to start the day and then basically any other chance you got but they would of course be what I would call a rinse off. I still do this here, sometimes I think the humidity alone makes me feel a little clammy so will "shower" and change when I get home. Your body your rules OP.

RebelandaStunner · 07/01/2017 13:00

I need a quick daily shower to feel fresh.
I think of a strip wash as for people who are bed ridden.
Think of the actions/functions your body does in a day.
Yuk to not showering.
Get some nice shower gel, fluffy towels etc. Make it an experience Wink

I do really notice the difference in some people who proudly tell you they don't shower every day

You will meet people every single day who don't shower daily and not notice a thing; most people don't announce their showering habits unless questioned. Of the fragrant and well-groomed people you've met, you won't actually have a clue about the frequency with which they shower.

Also, there is a difference in someone who just doesn't shower every day and someone who makes a weird virtue of being grubby - I had a colleague who was convinced deodorant wasn't necessary and was always talking about this, and he stank. I also had a university friend who had those white-boy dreadlocks of the 90s, who said his hair stopped smelling when he gave up washing it, and we had to tell him that actually no, it really hadn't and we could smell him a mile off. Those people are awful. But your average 'every other day' showerer won't smell or look any different to a daily showerer.

ElspethFlashman · 07/01/2017 13:04

I remember a poster on here a couple of months ago who washed something like 27 bath towels a week cos everyone in the house showered daily and they all changed towels daily.

I'm sure she thought everyone else was minging.

Natsku · 07/01/2017 13:05

Can't seem to fix the damned shower, but its only tiny shocks, like sticking your tongue on a 9 volt battery.

I have a bidet which I can use to give my bum and bits a wash if I don't shower, clean enough for my standards Grin

ElspethFlashman · 07/01/2017 13:06

The thing is....I really really notice if I've done a crap shower. You can always tell when your pits haven't been quite scrubbed enough.

So the people who just dash in, throw shower gel around and dash out, make me squinty eyed with suspicion.

MyWineTime · 07/01/2017 13:14

Too much washing is bad for your skin.
A sink wash every day works fine for me.
Shower or bath a few times a week - though daily in summer or after exercise.

ChickenVindaloo2 · 07/01/2017 13:27

I shower every* day. With a shower cap on if not washing my hair.

Those washing at the sink aren't washing their feet! Or the back of the neck! Those get sweaty. Get in the shower and lather up!

If I could be arsed I would shower morning and night. Expecially if I've been on public transport with you stinky lot

And don't get me started on people who don't wash their face in the am - it's covered in dead skin cells/pet hair/your partner's night-sweat...

And also don't get me started on people who think they don't need to wash their towel because "I'm always clean when I use it". These ppl don't understand that skin cells come off when you dry yourself and then the warm moist towel just makes it a breeding ground for bacteria!

THE FILTH!!!!! FILTHY BUGGERS!!

*except on duvet days when I'm not leaving the house.

CaraAspen · 07/01/2017 13:29

Hair washed daily. Daily shower or bath.

Oysterbabe · 07/01/2017 13:29

It literally takes 2 minutes to jump in the shower in the morning, it's nice to feel fresh and clean to start the day.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 07/01/2017 13:30

I'm counting up how many towels I wash a week now... I probably do ten without even trying tbh.

BangBelly · 07/01/2017 13:32

A few minutes in the shower is less faff than a stand-up wash, so I don't really get why people don't do it?

I shower every morning and shower or bathe at night too. Its nice to be fresh in the morning, and all clean and cosy for sex at night Grin.

ChickenVindaloo2 · 07/01/2017 13:33

Here are the bits that need washed every day:

Face
Earholes
Neck
PITS
Under boobs esp if large of nork
Bellybutton
Lady garden
Bottom
Back of knees
Feet

Quickest way is to get in the damn shower you soap-dodgers!

Mrsjudelaw66 · 07/01/2017 13:34

I can't bear to get in the shower in the morning. I have about 3 a week. I must be a right skank. On none shower days I just have a "whores bath".
Works for me.

Bluntness100 · 07/01/2017 13:40

I shower daily, the only times I don't is when I have a major hangover. Then I slob.

However I shower quickly. In, quick rub down with a puff and some gel, rinse get out. I pin my hair up and only wash it a couple of times a week. If people are staying they usually say to me, have you showered already, that was quick. Never understood why people spend so long in the shower. I'm only in there for any length of time if shaving stuff and washing my hair. Past that it's a two min job.

reallyanotherone · 07/01/2017 13:42

I think it depends a lot on genetics.

Db can easily do 3 days without showering, and honestly doesn't smell. a friend of mine can shower in the morning before work, use every deodorant known, and still be whiffy enough to need a shower in the evening too.

My family don't seem to have a "sweat" gene. Even when my brother and i go circuit training, we can work non stop for an hour, everyone else will be dripping, and the leader will comment on how we look like we've done nothing at the end- a little red in the face, but that's it.

So i think it is an individual thing- how much you sweat, where your sweat glands are, which bacteria you carry on your skin.

I don't care how much or little people wash. Up to them.

Lndnmummy · 07/01/2017 13:46

I wouldnt occur to me not to shower every day. Most days I shower twice. It wakes me up in the morning and I like to wash off the day before putting on a clean pyjamas before bed. I do it because I enjoy it

Lndnmummy · 07/01/2017 13:49

Chicken, thats so funny. I wash towels (and sheets) most days of the week.

NapQueen · 07/01/2017 13:52

Quick shower at some point most days with hair knotted up if I don't want to wash it.

I religiously bathe or shower after a later shift at work (home around 11.30pm) as I always feel.minging.

ItsLikeRainOnYourWeddingDay · 07/01/2017 13:53

A flannel wash at the sink takes longer and makes more mess than a literally 2 minute body shower so yabu.

ItsLikeRainOnYourWeddingDay · 07/01/2017 13:55

Oh and I know plenty people who don't shower every day and think they can get away with just a wash. At least half of them can't. Yuck. Confused

cherrycrumblecustard · 07/01/2017 13:57

Why on earth do the back of your knees need a wash? And your ears and neck? I haven't yet had a shower today but my neck isn't dirty!

TheNaze73 · 07/01/2017 13:57

Shower daily. I do run, circuit train & spin, so sometimes it might be twice a day

Cel982 · 07/01/2017 14:00

Oh Chicken Confused I think you need to develop another interest.
