To not shower every day

AngryGinger · 07/01/2017 11:18

To make it clear, I do have a wash every day but I don't see the need to actually shower or bathe every single morning. was talking to people at work about it, most of the women seemed to agree with me whilst the men thought it was weird that we didn't have a whose presence every single morning. Aibu to be washed but not showered every day?

Obviously it's different in hot weather/on holidays etc.

YelloDraw · 07/01/2017 11:50

I think it is kore common than not to shower every day - people use it to wake up / wknd down / clean. Especially if people go to the gym or cycle home or do some sport daily which most people I know do.

lanbro · 07/01/2017 11:53

In the summer I shower every day. I the winter I shower nearly every day but the days I don't I have an evening bath instead. Wash hair 2-3 times a week. DH rarely showers but baths at least every other day and tops and tails in between. DC bath at least every other day, hair wash twice a week

Obsidian77 · 07/01/2017 11:54

I shower (a quick one) every morning and evening. I just don't believe a wash is as effective a way to clean. I do really notice the difference in some people who proudly tell you they don't shower every day.

Flisstizzy · 07/01/2017 11:55

Isn't having a wash in the sink more of a faff than a quick 2 min shower?

user1477282676 · 07/01/2017 11:57

I don't shower daily. I wash armpits and underneaths. Face and hands of course...I don't smell. I have very thick, dry hair that needs washing only twice a week max.

I shower about every other day.

miserablesod · 07/01/2017 11:57

I have to bath or shower everyday otherwise i feel dirty. Couldn't leave the house otherwise

SpookyPotato · 07/01/2017 11:57

I have one, sometimes two every day in summer and then every other day in winter. You sound very clean OP, don't worry Grin

brasty · 07/01/2017 11:58

Showering every other day is fine unless it has been very hot or you have been very active. Showering every day is a very very recent idea.

lovelearning · 07/01/2017 11:58

Can someone explain what a wash is that isn't a shower/bath?

Bidet shower

AngryGinger · 07/01/2017 11:59

@obsidian I don't think I'm being "proud" just asking a question. I don't understand why you don't think a wash is as effective as a shower?

I think showers take longer than 2 mins tbh, and I prefer a bath in the evening to a shower in the morning

I shower every morning so does DH. Takes 3-4 minutes so I'm not getting why some think it takes any longer than a strip down wash at the sink. I actually don't care or judge what others do as long as they don't stink and are not obviously slimy and grimy.

My family, when I was growing up, were the quintessential 'bath every Sunday whether you need it or not' types except my Dad who had a dirty job so got a bath every work night, we didn't have one of those new-fangled shower things back then, only posh people did.

SoleBizzz · 07/01/2017 12:00

A showers quicker than a wash surely?

brasty · 07/01/2017 12:00

Also I have a very sensitive nose. Men who don't wash as often tend to smell, whereas it is rare for women to smell. Usually women who smell do not change their clothes enough.

brasty · 07/01/2017 12:01

If you are having literally a 2 minute shower, I don't see how you have enough time to actually wash yourself properly.

pinkmagic1 · 07/01/2017 12:01

I shower every morning and most evenings too. I think it is quicker and more effective and you feel far fresher than a flannel wash. It's a personal choice but I would feel horrible without my morning shower.

Trifleorbust · 07/01/2017 12:02

I usually have a bath every day but it's not a rule.

Obsidian77 · 07/01/2017 12:06

Not referring to you op, should have made this clear. Thinking of someone at a toddler group I went to who loved to tell people it was bad for you to shower every day. She stank to high heaven. Probably varies from person to person.

MommieMommyMom · 07/01/2017 12:06

I change my clothes daily and would still stink to high heaven if I didn't shower morning and night.
In the night your literally lay in your (and your partners) own sweat and dead skin cells.. I think a morning shower is necessary at the very least.

Aeroflotgirl · 07/01/2017 12:08

Yanbu at all, and not unusual. I am the same, I have a wash and freshen up each day, but shower every other day. I have Eczema, and the water does dry my skin out.

DailyFail1 · 07/01/2017 12:09

My 'wash' takes around 10mins. I use shower and my puff and then will rinse out. I do it because a shower will aggravate my excema during a flare up. When I shower it takes 5 mins to a thorough clean (without hair wash). The whole point of showers is that they should take less time than a wash/bath.

123MothergotafleA · 07/01/2017 12:09

Daily shower is a minimum standard of hygiene, with a full change of underwear.

DailyFail1 · 07/01/2017 12:09

Shower gel and puff

cheeseandpineapple · 07/01/2017 12:09

Agree with whoever said that sink washing is a faff. My shower/bathing frequency depends on time of year. In the summer I tend to shower every day but only wash my hair every other day. In winter I prefer baths and might skip the odd day but I've become such a bath addict I've been known to have two baths a day to warm me up!

Even on days when I'm in a hurry and want a quick wash, I will run a shallow bath whilst I brush my teeth and then hop in for a wash of all essential bits! The risk is that unless I need to be out of the door at a certain time I will add more water to the bath once I'm in and end up having a soak rather than a quick wash! Fortunately we have x2 tanks and I bath at different times from rest of the family so running out of hot water isn't an issue.

I have a fantastic honey bath product which smells and feels amazing. I can't get enough of it.

I'm writing this as my bath is running Grin

SukeyTakeItOffAgain · 07/01/2017 12:13

YANBU.

Shower as often as you want/need to.
