To not shower every day

To make it clear, I do have a wash every day but I don't see the need to actually shower or bathe every single morning. was talking to people at work about it, most of the women seemed to agree with me whilst the men thought it was weird that we didn't have a whose presence every single morning. Aibu to be washed but not showered every day?

I prefer to shower daily. I get very hot and sweaty and feel more confident. Part of my routine.

DragonMamma · 07/01/2017 14:07

I shower every morning too. I couldn't imagine not. It usually only takes 3-4 mins.

Strip washes take forever and the floor ends up soaking wet because you need to lather and then rinse, somehow.

I work with somebody who doesn't shower every day and I can smell unwashed nethers at least a couple of times a week. It doesn't help that they have admitted they don't wear underwear most days either.

I only don't shower if I'm extremely hungover and the I tend to lounge around all day and have a bath in the evening.

SirMixALot · 07/01/2017 14:20

@cheeseandpineapple what's the name of your honey bath stuff? Sounds lovely! Smile

ShowMeTheWayHome · 07/01/2017 15:04

I shower in the evening.

Don't like the idea of getting into my bed dirty/sweaty after being busy all day.

cheeseandpineapple · 07/01/2017 15:06

Sirmix, I actually have two kinds, first one I was given as a Xmas present one year and it's by Laura Mercier. It comes in a glass jar with a honey dipper and looks like real honey, very decadent, beautiful packaging. The other one my children bought for my birthday when they couldn't get hold of the LM one, it's by body shop and it's just as good. Doesn't come with a honey dipper and the pot is plastic but it really is pretty much the same and I'm guessing cheaper than the LM one. I'm coming to the end of my body shop one and was given another LM one for Xmas just gone. A small amount goes a long way but as I use it almost daily I tend to go through them fairly quickly! Highly recommend either one!

Beginning to think maybe I am just lazy haha!! I do all the essential bits, face, pits and bits. I can't for the life of me think why the banks of my knees would need cleaned every 24 hours - how dirty do they get!!
Must admit, our shower isn't up to much, low pressure and not very warm so I prefer to have a bath in the evening. Think you get more control over your hair in a bath - less risk of it getting wet if pinned up. Plus you can read your book and shave your legs (not at the same time obviously!!)

Backs of knees get sweaty. It's the reason you're told to dot a little perfume there when trying to seduce ;-) it's a pulse point or something.

Necks get very dirty - every looked at the collar of a white shirt (eg a school shirt or a man's shirt for wearing a tie?) Particularly if you have long hair, you will find the back of your neck gets greasy or sweaty.

I forgot to say in-between tits as well. That also gets sweaty.

Where are Kim and Aggie when you need them????

SukeyTakeItOffAgain · 07/01/2017 15:28

Not...actual.... sweat? Shock

Crunchymum · 07/01/2017 15:32

Shower and hairwash every other day, bits and bits flannel washed in the other days (yes I do use a clean flannel every time and they get washed on a 90c wash!)

Kids have a bath 3 times per week, more in summer.

DP has at least one shower a day (he does a very manual job)

Crunchymum · 07/01/2017 15:32

Bits and pits

Natsku · 07/01/2017 16:05

I have sauna honey, rub it over skin and then sit in sauna while it heats up and soaks in a bit, then rinse off. Lovely stuff.

ChickenVindaloo2 · 07/01/2017 16:07

Sweat in and of itself doesn't smell. But the bacteria on your skin feed off it it and it's their excretions that smell. So yeah, you need to wash off stale sweat, bacteria and their poop.

I shower every morning - it literally takes two minutes to wash my hair and my body - not sure how a wash is quicker unless it's a half assed job...

user1483804139 · 07/01/2017 16:14

Erm, well. I certainly don't shower everyday. Unless in summer where you get hot and sticky. In the cooler months/winter I shower probably twice a week max. Don't think it's good for the skin to shower or bath every day.

Rachel0Greep · 07/01/2017 16:17

Yes, shower or bath every day. I am always slightly intrigued - and this is NOT aimed at anyone on the thread - when people say 'I don't smell, I asked my OH and he said...'

I do wonder if people who DO smell actually know that they smell. Or maybe, in some cases, they asked, but the other person wasn't brave enough to tell them.

BlurryFace · 07/01/2017 16:24

YANBU, I was taught that a face, pits and bits wash every other day was just fine in ye olde noughties. When we were on a gas meter for water and had just a bath (no shower), DH and I got more thorough with our strip washes amd stretched to having a bath only every 3-4 days.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 07/01/2017 16:43

I used to work with someone who only showered twice a week - she didn't think she smelt either but she was rank

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 07/01/2017 16:45

Of course you are not being unreasonable.

kittybiscuits · 07/01/2017 16:47

Livia I think that's it in a nutshell!

lljkk · 07/01/2017 16:50

I never have conversations IRL about how often people bathe or clean. Confused
Hair washing a little bit if someone is asked about their unusual hair, they might volunteer some management details.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 07/01/2017 16:53

I knew because (a) she stank and (b) she told me one day that her flat mate was odd because he showered every day Grin

Fairylea · 07/01/2017 16:55

I shower every morning, wash my hair at the same time. It's shoulder length and I dry it with the hairdryer afterwards and then do my make up. Whole thing takes me about half an hour. I don't feel "ready" unless I have a shower every morning.

In really hot weather I will have another before bed too.

Bexta147 · 07/01/2017 17:28

I could never shower every morning. I just don't have the time. A shower takes me at least 20 minutes then their is the hair drying and straightening. It doesn't matter if I wear a shower cap or tie my hair up out of the way, it still gets wet and I've just not got the time to do it everyday.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 07/01/2017 17:38

I can be up, shower/hair wash, dress and be out of the house within 12 minutes

EggysMom · 07/01/2017 17:40

It's not the showering that takes time, it's drying ...

If you just strip wash certain areas, it takes 2 minutes; it then takes 2 minutes (if that) to dry those areas and you're ready to go.

If you pop into a shower, you might only be under the water for 2 minutes but there is so much more of you to get dry before you can get dressed ...
