Just that, really? For how many people and does that include cleaning stuff/toiletries? Just stuff bought in supermarkets/online/small shops etc not including any meals out/coffees etc. We seem to spend a lot and I'm beginning to think IABU about the amount... Interested to hear what everyone roughly spends.

Loads and loads . Family of 5 here and we spend 100-120 even if I go to lidl or Aldi I spend that. It was more when we used to drink wine and beer ! I'm really trying to get it down to 80 but it's not happening.

TheWitTank · 06/01/2017 17:23

I would say around £90- £100 with everything, including top up groceries in the week. Family of 4 shopping at Aldi and very occasionally Sainsburys (but only for bits and bobs!)

esiotrot2015 · 06/01/2017 17:25

Between 80-100 for family of four

littlepeas · 06/01/2017 17:25

Family of 5 and a big dog - in the region of £200 a month.

Madhouse05 · 06/01/2017 17:26

100-120 all from Sainsburys to feed family of 5. Know if I'm more careful I could prob get it down to £80-90..... Is one of my New Year's resolutions!

Camomila · 06/01/2017 17:27

£50/60 odd in the main shop plus £5/10 on bits throughout the week. 2 adults and DS 9 months (no formula but nappies, wipes, and a fancier range of fruit and veg than we'd get otherwise)

Alternate between Aldi, Sainsbury's and Tesco depending on what we need/if we are in a rush as Tesco is nearest.

AgnesNitt1976 · 06/01/2017 17:27

Between £45-£50 a week one adult and one teenager. This includes all cleaning products, toiletries and pet food, I shop at Tesco.

Wow littlepeas - that's impressive! What's the secret? Are you veggie so no meat? Please say where you shop - think I should try it out!

Purplebluebird · 06/01/2017 17:28

£70 strictly as maximum, we are 3 people (2 adults and an all-consuming toddler). This is including shampoo/toiletpaper/cleaning stuff/post stamps/alcohol and whatever else :) We don't have a lot of money to spend on other things, or go out for dinner, because we try to eat really well, and it's expensive! We do online shopping at Sainsbury's or Tesco, as I don't drive so can't get to the shop that easily.

To cut back I have found that it helps to have 2-3 vegetarian/vegan days per week, as meat costs a bomb! We also make leftovers that my other half can take for lunch at work, or enough to have the same dinner two days in a row.

What do you spend? :)

MissSmiley · 06/01/2017 17:29

£160 on Tesco shop and couple of £20 top ups in the week. Family of 7. Work at home so that includes all meals for me and dh.

Purplebluebird · 06/01/2017 17:29

Ah yes, and it includes the neverending nappies.

Namejustfornappies · 06/01/2017 17:29

Family of 5 (although 3 are very small so don't eat much) - about £70 plus a £20 mid week top up. I don't stint on food though.

We use cloth nappies and washable wipes though. But everyone eats lunch at home apart from dd1.

Lovelybangers · 06/01/2017 17:31

Very little.

Just me and DH now, the majority of the time.

£12 on an veg delivery box- then top ups aprox £40 a week.

Am mostly vegetarian, booze and toiletries/cleaning stuff comes from Costco

LemonyFresh · 06/01/2017 17:31

About £40 for 2 adults shopping in Aldi. However one is heavily pregnant and one works a very physical job so probably eating too much at the moment.

Turquoisetamborine · 06/01/2017 17:31

About £350pm for two adults, a nine yr old who has school dinners and a one yr old. This is mostly between Morrisons and Aldi/Lidl.

We don't have huge appetites and try to have three meat free days a week.

SparkleShinyGlitter · 06/01/2017 17:32

About £140 but that includes nappies/wipes/formula/ cleaning stuff

SparkleShinyGlitter · 06/01/2017 17:32

A week

Turquoisetamborine · 06/01/2017 17:33

Ah yes this includes nappies, cleaning products and alcohol but we don't have pets to buy for.

gerbo · 06/01/2017 17:34

Sainsburys weekly delivery, dh, me and 9 and 6 year old. Includes toiletries, household stuff, everything - approx £100 per week. No booze in that usually, but all food, cleaning bits, loo roll, dishwasher tabs, etc.

Occasionally I top up in town, no meals out for us or cafes, coffees, etc.

Don't feel guilty about the amount though as we eat well, fresh food each night, and we prefer to spend money on that than clothes, nights out, etc. -and I don't throw much away. Husband takes leftovers for lunch every day. Have tried to reduce the amount in interests of saving some money but it's tricky. I work almost full time so chances to get to Lidl and the like are slim, and I have no wish to spend my weekend in a supermarket, so we carry on with our delivery!

LBOCS2 · 06/01/2017 17:35

£400ish a month. We do a mixture of Ocado and ALDI. Family of 4ish (2 adults, a preschooler, a weaning baby and a 9yo who is here at weekends).

CremeEggThief · 06/01/2017 17:36

£40-50 for absolutely everything with Sainsburys online/ Co-op or village shop for top-up of essentials. That's for me and 14 year old DS. Vegetarian household, which obviously helps and DS gets free lunch at school too.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 06/01/2017 17:36

There are either 4, 5 or 6 of us, depending on who is home from Uni. I reckon I spend about £20 per person, per week, which I don't think is too bad, certainly better than my kids do when feeding themselves at Uni.

My figure includes toiletries (mostly value or bought on offer and stockpiled) and cleaning stuff (not a major cost to be honest).
