To think I got 'spiked'

I did what you're not supposed to do.

I picked up an abandoned glass of fizz, and I drank it as I'm flat broke after Christmas, had a Diet Coke at the pub but wanted a fizz and couldn't afford to buy my own Xmas Blush it was just sitting there at the bar. Already had a few glasses of wine at home with a meal then popped into our local to see some friends at about 11:30. DP had to carry me home, (his poor back!) I can't remember a thing and apparently was pretty much unconscious and when I did wake up a bit, totally incoherent- I couldn't form any words. He said he had to move all my limbs like a puppet to get me on my side in bed then didn't want to leave me alone so just played on iPad most of the night.

I feel appalling now. Shaky and sick and a racing heart and I've drank loads of water but can't seem to wee Xmas Blush

It was the local bit-up-it's-Arse-gastro-pub and I know 'mine-sweeping' a drink is a bit student and scummy and I shouldn't have done it, but I'm starting to think it must have been laced with something and whoever it was bought for thought better of it and left it alone. Total memory blackout from about half an hour after I drank it, and before that I was ever so slightly tipsy but holding a conversation and dancing. Only wanted to stick my head in to see in the New Year.

I'm so stupid aren't I Xmas Blush Xmas Blush

Glad you are ok OP, yes tell the pub.

My friends and I had our drinks spiked once. I drink very little, (we had shared a bottle of wine between 4 of us) and I suddenly became aware I was sitting in another location in the pub talking to a guy I didn't know, my friend was separated from me talking to another guy. I remember suddenly 'coming to' and thinking this was odd and I felt ill. Stood up said I was ill and had to go home and insisted my friend came with me, the guys offered to come with us but I remember just ignoring them and insisting I was ill and needed friend to take me home. Made her accompany me home in a taxi from the rank 2 mins walk away (home was 10 mins walk away, NEVER got a taxi). As soon as I got home started throwing up, friend left in another taxi I called for her. Next morning she was on the phone WTF happened? Why did I leave you in such a mess etc? She had no recall of the pub/ guys whatsoever or of why we had left, just remembered my being really ill at my house. I am very glad I 'came to when I did'

Soubriquet · 01/01/2017 11:50

I didn't know I was spiked until I described the situation to my Dh years later and he pointed out

I was drinking that night anyway and whilst I was drunk I was aware of what I was doing.

It was a house party we were at so lots of drinking and lots of people

My "friend" shoved this drink under my nose and told me to try some. I had about 3-4 mouthfuls. Next thing I remember is my head began to badly spin. I think I went unconscious for a moment too because I just remember opening my eyes and I was on my back looking up at the ceiling.

I was also having sex with a girl surrounded by all these people. I remember the odd phone being flashed so someone was taking photos.

I can't remember the rest of that night and woke up on someone's bed. My skirt was stiff but i don't think my "friend" got his way.

He was furious that day because he didn't.

I staggered home the next morning alone feeling really ill.

Never ever felt like that before and I hope I never do again

GloriaGaynor · 01/01/2017 11:53

Not being able to pee can be potentially serious OP, so keep an eye on it.

INeedNewShoes · 01/01/2017 11:53

There's no reason to doubt yourself over this OP. If you know that prior to the one swiped fizz that you'd only had half a bottle of wine, no way would that amount of alcohol have such a big effect on you.

Drink spiking happens and it needs reporting, at the very least to the pub. The pub may well have CCTV on the bar and be able to establish who was responsible. Saving other women from whoever it was is far more important than your feelings of embarrassment. Lots of people do daft things on NYE; it just so happens that this year you were one of them. You needn't say that you swiped the drink - it could have easily been an honest mistake and that you thought it was yours.

I had a drink spiked during a date with a guy from online dating around 10 years ago now. It only occurred to me recently that I really really should have reported it. I was lucky that I knew after a couple of sips that there was something weird about the drink and didn't have any more. I feel awful knowing that this guy might have gone on to take advantage of other women that he had spiked and that I might have been able to take action to prevent that.

WorraLiberty · 01/01/2017 11:53

You haven't had your drink spiked.

You took an abandoned drink and had no idea of the alcohol content, or whether for example someone mixed a bit of vodka with their 'fizz', decided it was far too strong and left it.

If you're going to say anything to the pub staff, you need to tell the truth, but even then I can't see what they're going to do about it??

Gileswithachainsaw · 01/01/2017 11:53
Shock

Flipping heck

All I remember is chatting to my friend and we shared some wine only had like 2 glasses each. Despite being usually Able to drink a bottle without being so drunk for some reason I felt really really nauseous and drunk and I just remember insisting someone drive me home. I don't remember the journey really just the need for open windows as I felt so sick...

VivienneWestwoodsKnickers · 01/01/2017 11:56

I've been spiked too. I'd had three drinks, two with a three course dinner and the third was the only one I had in the nightclub. It was the barman - I clearly remember thinking it was strange that he was pouring the drink on the back bar when they normally poured in front of you. I turned into a hysterical mess. Fortunately my friends popped me in a taxi home and I was fine, but felt appalling for days.

Definitely report it to the bar. I'd also consider reporting it online to the police, as whilst there will be nothing they can do for you, it may be information which helps someone else if there is a pattern of such things in the same bar. They can use it as intelligence.

VivienneWestwoodsKnickers · 01/01/2017 11:57

Should point out, spiking was in about 2005 so not recent.

WeAllHaveWings · 01/01/2017 11:57

Why didn't your dp get medical help if you went from slightly tipsy to incoherent and unable to walk/use your limbs in a matter of minutes wthout excessive alcohol?

WorraLiberty · 01/01/2017 12:01

Definitely report it to the bar. I'd also consider reporting it online to the police, as whilst there will be nothing they can do for you, it may be information which helps someone else if there is a pattern of such things in the same bar. They can use it as intelligence.

Not without a toxicology report.

The OP still has time to go to the hospital for blood tests, if she really does think the drink was spiked with anything other than stronger alcohol.

TheWoodlander · 01/01/2017 12:02

I would say that drink was spiked OP, from what you have written. I agree with a PP about reporting to police too - just because. It may form part of a pattern of events, and drink-spiking is very very worrying.

Just think, someone else had a lucky escape last night, and thank god your DP was there for you.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 01/01/2017 12:02

No one here can say whether it was or wasn't spiked , I wouldn't bother telling the bar manager.

Chalk it down to experience and leave unknown drinks alone, I'd be fucking livid if my kids did this, what were you thinking?Shock.

Soubriquet · 01/01/2017 12:06

@Birdsgottafly

Why are earth are you so blasé over the fact your dd spikes her own drink?

Surely you aren't happy she does this?

WorraLiberty · 01/01/2017 12:07

If the OP wants to phone the Police and admit that on NYE she deliberately picked up an abandoned drink and drank it, despite not knowing what was in it, that's up to her.

But do you really think (without a hospital report) the police are going to take the tiniest bit of notice?

Or do you just think they're going to roll their eyes?

JustanotherMortificado · 01/01/2017 12:07

Bad but maybe it's taught you a lesson. Also am shocked at the Blaise poster up thread about her daughter putting "magic" in her drinks..are you fucking stupid?.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 01/01/2017 12:08

And 'you' didn't get spiked, you chose to pick up an abandoned drink not intended for you.

QuestionableMouse · 01/01/2017 12:08

If you still can't wee you need to seek medical help today. There are blood tests that'll tell you if there was something nasty in the drink.

user1477282676 · 01/01/2017 12:08

Birds we all want to know if you're ok with your DD doing that,

MadHattersWineParty · 01/01/2017 12:10

They would probably roll their eyes yes as it was a really idiotic thing to do and yes I should know better at my age.

I do feel absolutely bolkocking crap though.

OP posts:
Maverickismywingman · 01/01/2017 12:10

I think when you pee (eventually) you should take a sample.

I would also seek medical assistance. The non peeing thing is a bit of an issue tbh.

Maverickismywingman · 01/01/2017 12:11

As is the heart racing.

You can't control what has passed but you CAN control how you deal with it now and in the future.

ragz134 · 01/01/2017 12:13

OP how long have you not been able to pee for? If drink was spiked with something like ketamine that could cause urinary retention especially combined with alcohol. If it gets painful you will need to get to a&e.

MadHattersWineParty · 01/01/2017 12:14

Well I'll never mine-sweep again Xmas Blush

I'll chug this pint of water down and see about going to the Walk-in centre later if I still can't do a wee. Where does the liquid go if it's not coming out?!! DP asleep, he was up all night worrying about me Blush

Breagha85 · 01/01/2017 12:14

Ummm Birds MDMA isn't "similar" to ecstasy, it IS ecstasy (Methylenedioxymethamphetamine).

WorraLiberty · 01/01/2017 12:14

Birds might have meant Magic Moments vodka?
