To severely dislike Robbie Williams?

GerardNoWay · 31/12/2016 23:44

OH has insisted on watching BBC in the run up to midnight.

I cannot stand Robbie Williams. I think he puts on a horrendously arrogant front, to the point of coming across as disingenuous. Deep down I think he's quite insecure.

There is just something about him that grates on me no end! I don't dislike his music, just find him irritating and fake.

He's finished. Finally - thankfully.

twinklefoot · 01/01/2017 02:10

I used to hate Robbie first time around but he's strangely endearing now we are all old!Grin

kel12345 · 01/01/2017 02:14

I disagree. I Love him

BananaFrittersForTea · 01/01/2017 05:01

Chaka's voice is like warm golden syrup and good whisky mixed together. Shivers down the spine still.

Cinnamon84 · 01/01/2017 05:19

Can't stand him

Vapours · 01/01/2017 06:01

Did anyone else find it really irritating that he was chewing while "singing" ? Had to switch him off. Boaak!

GiantHulkHands · 01/01/2017 06:13

I can't stand Robbie Williams. And yet I would happily chat to him if the alternative was spending time with that twat Gary Barlow.

BlossomHillOne · 01/01/2017 06:44

"He was one of the best performers of my generation... back in the day"

He really wasn't!

newroundhere · 01/01/2017 07:05

I saw him a few years ago and was surprised that he needed an autocue with all his lyrics - including Angels - and I saw he had one last night as well Confused

And as PPs have mentioned, he ruined the Progress tour for me too....

SharkBastard · 01/01/2017 07:31

Met him several times during the 90's, awful coke head who told a 4 year old to fuck off cause they wanted an autograph.

He was not liked by anyone in the business. I can't bear to watch him 15 years later either.

He suffers terribly with stage fright, so that explains the wide eyes and the autocue. He's the cleanest he's ever been from booze and drugs. As for looking bloated, I actually thought he looked slimmer than before and has improve s with age.
The videos he posted to his wife's instagram were all done with her permission, and she actively plays a part in them.
A lot of the ego see,s to have disappeared and he is now far more 'grown up' than I have ever seen him, but, most of the ego was bluff and bluster for the terrible insecurities that so many of you spotted.
When he rejoined the Progress tour it was supposed to help him to perform live without the crippling fear (he hadn't performed or toured for more than 10 years and there was a lot of audience members that had paid to see them altogether again.
He is the first to admit he is not the greatest singer, but he is a born entertainer, and in case you hadn't guessed I am a fan 😊

ForalltheSaints · 01/01/2017 07:38

YABU- worked with him in the late 90s and he was pleasant and courteous to all, no big I am at all.

Frazzled2207 · 01/01/2017 07:41

Such a toss pot. HIs success is attributable to his take that start, his showmmanship and the fact that over the years, particularly in the late 1990s, he managed to get a few half-decent songs written for him.
He is devoid of any serious talent, yet so are most boy/girl band members.

Vapours · 01/01/2017 07:42

So who would have been better then? Any ideas? I think Boy George, Tom Jones. Madness!!? Smile

user1467798821 · 01/01/2017 07:46

Those songs weren't written for him, he co wrote them with Guy Chambers who has also co written this album too, along with Gary Barlow, Ed Sheeran and others. You can't please all the people all of the time

SheFeedsYouTeaAndOranges · 01/01/2017 07:50

I can't stand him, but woke up on the sofa in time to see the fireworks and him singing.

Chewing gum with his mouth open the whole time. Strutting about...

Told a really inappropriate anecdote about his young daughter too.

Vapours · 01/01/2017 07:55

Oo, what did he say? Missed that.

Eve · 01/01/2017 07:57

Have a friend who was at a private party where he performed..

.. he anti baced a number of times on stage after touching anyone.

Nataleejah · 01/01/2017 08:01

Yanbu
He's annoying

Vapours · 01/01/2017 08:01

Maybe he has ocd or something then. Perhaps we should be more sympathetic? I don't know, just guessing, it does seem a bit strange. Or is he doing it as a joke?

SheFeedsYouTeaAndOranges · 01/01/2017 08:02

He told a story about his young daughter playing with her umbrella and using it as a hobby horse and then she announced that she was holding it with her vagina. Told as a joke and encouraged people laughing about it.

On national TV for everyone to hear, about his daughter.

Now, I'm sure that some people will think it's fine, but I think humour/anecdotes that involve your children only work if the joke is something funny that your child has said but is ultimately about you. It was just tasteless and not funny.

Lilaclily · 01/01/2017 08:03

I think it's because of all the issues he has, no one minds David Beckham being ocd, autocue is for his nerves

titsbumfannythelot · 01/01/2017 08:05

Yabu I love Robbie.

But each to their own.

David Walliams has this effect on me. Creepy, sinister bastard that he is.

GerardNoWay · 01/01/2017 08:05

Really can't see the point of whacking out the anti bac gel if you're going to shove your hands down your pants and then NOT apply it. Bergh.

Story about his young daughter, just my opinion but that made me feel a bit weird, sickly and uncomfortable.
