Lyrically, musically or any other reason.

I can't stand Spandau Ballet's "True" - there I've said it. I'm out and proud.

"Why do I find it so hard to write the next line?" - perhaps because it's a fucking shite song Tony and it makes no sense at all!

Ah thanks Glitter

Two different people...same whiny voice

KatieScarlett · 31/12/2016 13:15

Oh God "Through the Barricades"
I'd banished that one from my consciousness.
Fuck, that was bad.

wineusuallyhelps · 31/12/2016 13:18

That country song that goes "I just wanna dance the night away". Enrages me 😂

TheCunkOfPhilomena · 31/12/2016 13:18

I cannot stand anything by Buddy Holly, Elvis Costello, Abba but the song that gives me emotional tinnitus is

DIYDummy · 31/12/2016 13:19

Baby when you're gone with Mel C and Bryan Adams. I irrationally hate it. Can't put my finger on why, I just do Angry

pointythings · 31/12/2016 13:19

My current most hated top 5 (in no particular order:

Show Me The Magic (this rocketed into the top 5 in about a day)
It's got to beeeeeeeeeeeee Perfect (It would be if you fucked off)
Been around the world and ayayayayayayayayay can't fine my baby (vom)
I wasn't expecting that (oh shut up you whiny twat)
Pass the Dutchie (to me and I will whack you over the head with it)

croon979 · 31/12/2016 13:19

Life by Desiree. The most god awful lyrics ever. I'm afraid of the dark, especially when I'm in a park...kill me.

NancyDonahue · 31/12/2016 13:21

Stars, Simply Red. And Simply Red in general.

MrsMattBomer · 31/12/2016 13:24

I think we can all be proud of ourselves for surviving the shite that was Starship

I'm not sure which lyric I hate the most, "Marconi plays the mamba, listen to the radioooooo" or "Who counts the money underneath the bar, Who writes the wrecking ball in two wild guitars?" - urrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh and "Nothing's Gonna Stop us Now" is no better either.

I just managed about 3 seconds of that MrsMatt .

They don't make shit music like they used to eh?

croon979 · 31/12/2016 13:28

Also Candy by Robbis Williams. Makes me want to punch someone. Him, preferably.

PenguindreamsofDraco · 31/12/2016 13:28

Sexual Healing will be played as I walk through the gates of He'll.

PenguindreamsofDraco · 31/12/2016 13:29

Marvellous. Hell not he'll Grin

MrsMattBomer · 31/12/2016 13:30

The lack of synth in modern music is very disappointing! Grin

Agree with op re "True" by Spandeau Ballet

In fact anything by them I hate.

Can't stand Aerosmith.. " Don't wannnna close my eyyyyeeees"

Fuck off.

NancyDonahue · 31/12/2016 13:35

I do miss the sax solo's Smile

Ankleswingers · 31/12/2016 13:35

Yes yes to Life by Desiree.

Diabolical song.

MrsMattBomer · 31/12/2016 13:37

I miss the days of terrible Europop songs like this getting to frigging Number 1.

I hate that song irrationally. Although it did knock the awful shite of "Love is All Around" off Number 1 after about what seemed like 5 years, so every cloud has a silver lining I guess.

BadLad · 31/12/2016 13:39

Anything by........(other crap groups)....Abba

Abba?

ABBA?

A fucking BBA?

Hold me back. They could sing the phone book, science text books, Tony Blair's 45-minutes WMD speech, my own death sentence or mumsnet baby names threads, and still make it sound appealing.

Get pitchforks!!!

GilMartin · 31/12/2016 13:43

A few years ago I would have said 'Aend in the Clowns'

However I'd only ever heard the Judy Collins version of the song (which I still dislike a great deal as she sings the like out of it) but after hearing an episode of Radio 4's Soul Music and hearing about its context in the musical it was taken from and how Steven Sondheim intended it to be sung (as a song of great sadness and anger barely contained with short accusatory phrases) rather than a ballad , I've been enchanted ever since. I like Judi Dench's rendition of it best I think.

MrsMattBomer · 31/12/2016 13:47

Yeah who the fuck doesn't like ABBA?! I'm sure there was a statistic once that to sell the amount of albums ABBA had, everybody in Europe owned at least one.

PeachesAndCream1 · 31/12/2016 13:48

I have a dislike of anything done by boney m. Yuck.

And the fucking sound of fucking music. I know I know it's a fantastic film 🤢 Which deserves to be thrown off the fucking side of that mountain she's singing on. Yuck yuck.

And anything done by Kanye west (and the like). I don't understand how that's music.

IsThatYouPaul · 31/12/2016 13:48

Glad to see Jess Glynne getting a few name checks on here. Thought it was just me that had to turn that nasaly whiny nonsense off.

I have an actual physical reaction to her voice. And not a pleasant one.

TheCunkOfPhilomena · 31/12/2016 13:48

Noooooooo, if I hear the first couple of beats of Dancing Queen I'm outta here.
