Lyrically, musically or any other reason.

I can't stand Spandau Ballet's "True" - there I've said it. I'm out and proud.

"Why do I find it so hard to write the next line?" - perhaps because it's a fucking shite song Tony and it makes no sense at all!

Teddy bears' picnic. Gives me the right willies.

gottaloveascamhun · 06/01/2017 20:04

Whoever said Fairground by Simply Red- yesssss!! Totally agree.
The Mel C and Bryan Adams version of Baby When you're Gone has some shocking harmonies.Terrible.
Gorillaz in general.
Rhianna work- blah blahblahblah

gottaloveascamhun · 06/01/2017 20:07

That cavalry Christmas song makes me want to kill someone. Can't remember the name.

starsorwater · 06/01/2017 20:48

The stalker song. Sting. I'll be watching you.

Anything with a little break in the voice, anything nasal, anything with deliberate fake accent, anything that requires writhing to project, almost anything really...

I used to like music, then came the dcs and their appalling taste destroyed all tolerance.

I quite like Silent Night sung straight. That's it.

woodhill · 06/01/2017 21:39

Anyone watching TOTP 1983

Some of the hated songs are appearing

The80sweregreat · 06/01/2017 21:46

Me, did people really dress like that..!
( i loved the 80s, but i didnt dress like that..! )
True was on earlier

Tunnocksmallow · 06/01/2017 22:00

Anything by Emilie Sande makes me all stabby.

ghostwatch · 07/01/2017 00:49

For years and years I could not remember a particular song in full just snippets then I discovered it randomly about 8 years ago and was so happy. Finally ! That's the song ! Since then I've been unable to remember it again. It's so annoying! It's a man and a woman singing something about a war and I think it was about the year 2000. I've looked through lists of hits and just know a tiny bit of the tune. 😡

GilMartin · 07/01/2017 02:42

Ghost there's hope. I had the melody to Earth, Wind and Fire's Let's Groove Tonight stuck in my head for three years with no idea what it was called or who it was by, let alone the words.

One day I walking down the corridor at work and started whistling this unknown tune that had haunted a good portion of my waking hours for years. Colleague stopped me and said 'you're a bit young to remember Earth Wind and Fire'. I could have kissed her.

ghostwatch · 07/01/2017 05:07

That's hilarious Gil I'm glad I'm not the only one. Why do our brains hide songs from us that they know. I can see the cover of the single I bought from ourprice but ...... no...... can't remember it ! So the song I can't remember is my most annoying song for that reason

whatlifestylechoice · 07/01/2017 07:37

That Gnash song I love u, I hate you. Fuck off, you whiny-assed git !

Georgiesgirl · 07/01/2017 07:57

Perfect by fairground attraction. AAAAARRRRGGHHHHHH

woodhill · 07/01/2017 09:44

Didn't know Eddie Reader from FA was singing on Sweet Dreams by Eurythmics till last night on TOTP1983.

woodhill · 07/01/2017 14:02

That mystery song - Is it "Glad it's all over" by Captain Sensible. Probably too early.

EastMidsGPs · 07/01/2017 14:31

I could write a list a mile long to answer OO's question Smile

Currently it is anything by Little Mix. None of their songs sound tuneful to me, their voices sound forced and shouty rather than harmonious.
Shout Out To My Ex .. is the one I have to turn off at the moment. Such 'classly' lyrics I don't think. .. the message it gives to young girls irritates me beyond reason, and don't get me started on the big pants outfits they wear.

Nineteen .. Paul Hardcastle

Anything by Ellie Goulding

EastMidsGPs · 07/01/2017 14:33

And this shows my age two songs that used to frighten me as a small child
Little White Bull by Tommy Steele and one about Sparky a piano, not sure who 'sang' that

Tunnocksmallow · 07/01/2017 15:53

Oh yes eastmids little mix sound like a teenage girl group at a bad karaoke bar. All shouty and screaming.

Livingtothefull · 07/01/2017 16:04

I hate 'A whiter Shade of Pale' too….what a meaningless dirge.

dawnmist · 07/01/2017 20:33

I read somewhere that Whiter Shade of Pale was about the Titanic. Not sure if it's true.

dawnmist · 07/01/2017 20:39

Showing my age here but most songs today don't have proper melodies. What songs by the likes of Little Mix could have you singing in the bath to. Even the young ones who love them would struggle to. The late 60s was my era, what a fantastic time for music. Music from that era still significant today.

Unicorn1981 · 08/01/2017 15:01

My dd (4 next month) keeps singing that but she says 'shout out to my eggs'! I swore she'd never get into anything like that 🙈

ghostwatch · 09/01/2017 09:22

I think "whiter shade of pale" is a beautiful song but then I HATE "bridge over troubled water" which many people seem to love?

ghostwatch · 09/01/2017 09:24

Unicorn shout out to my eggs - so cute. I think I prefer that version she made herself sound really bitter with that song IMO.
