Seriously just stop lolling. It's just not cricket.

NoMoreParades · 18/12/2016 01:22

Not rude, just extremely worthy of sympathy.

MrsJayy · 18/12/2016 01:23

How can you not be a femenist even if you think some of the feminism chat is a bit ott how can you not be a femenist

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 18/12/2016 01:23

nomore I was engaging in sarcasm. Childish I know. The op seems to think feminism is a "first world problem".

Hannah4banana · 18/12/2016 01:24

Not feminism but some of the issues people choose to be offended about.

MrsJayy · 18/12/2016 01:24

Being femenist has bugger all to do with 'identifying' as

dovesong · 18/12/2016 01:25

Most people who say they aren't feminists don't know what feminism actually is.

Hannah4banana · 18/12/2016 01:26

I actually haven't a clue but if it's anything like that forum I now I am not Shock

OP posts:
schmack · 18/12/2016 01:26

haveacupoftea · 18/12/2016 01:26

I choose to be offended by your stupidity OP Hmm

Hannah4banana · 18/12/2016 01:27

I'm more than happy to be enlightened if someone wants to explain. I'm actually quite interested.

OP posts:
MrsJayy · 18/12/2016 01:28

People are offended by all sorts of nonsense but it is important to them you can agree or not join in the debate or not it is up to you being called a girl is demeaning to some women you are fine with it

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 18/12/2016 01:28

Most people who say they aren't feminists don't know what feminism actually is.

This.

Plus in some circles it seems to be very uncool and unattractive to be a feminist.

Newsflash - we're on your side and have your best interests at heart. You may not be offended at being called 'girl' but women many are for good reasons.

Hannah4banana · 18/12/2016 01:28

How is it stupidity to wonder why people have an issue with baby cards in pink and blue? There nothing offensive in it?

OP posts:
dovesong · 18/12/2016 01:29

It's actually just supporting the equality of men and women, and wanting them to have equal opportunities Smile obviously there are some branches of feminism that are more extreme than others but that's essentially what it is. I think a lot of the time when you become more aware of sexism, racism etc, and open your mind to it existing, you see it more and more in the way that the world is structured around you.

NoMoreParades · 18/12/2016 01:31

'Now' or 'know'?
Feminism is about equality OP, I beg you to do even just a little bit of reading about it. it's not hard, it's not subversive, it's about being equal.

BastardGoDarkly · 18/12/2016 01:31

Someone pass the wine, I'm way too sober for this shit.

haveacupoftea · 18/12/2016 01:31

By the way, come back to us in fifteen years and tell us men and women are equal and feminists choose to be offended, when you're cleaning the house after a lazy husband, making his appointments for him and writing his Christmas carda because that's 'woman's work' and if you dont do it, it wont get done. Your 13 year old daughter gets lewd comments shouted at her in the street, people tut at you for breast feeding in public and tell you that you should do that in the toilet, or you go for an abortion and face a screaming crowd of people calling you a murderer.

Then see how you feel about feminism.

Hannah4banana · 18/12/2016 01:32

I kinda get that. Would you give back a gift from someone for a new born in a certain colour because you see it as a feminist issue?

OP posts:
AVirginLitTheCandle · 18/12/2016 01:33

Here you go Bastard Wine

haveacupoftea · 18/12/2016 01:34

Oh fuck, I give up. You're either an idiot, or more probably a 15 year old boy.

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 18/12/2016 01:34

bastardGrin

Hannah4banana · 18/12/2016 01:34

Won't happen haveacupoftea because I can't have children as much as I've tried and my husband does more in the house than me as I work shifts. But thanks

Hannah I would maybe avoid forums in the first instance and read more about feminism if you want to make your mind up on it. First facts about the movement, then opinions for and against, perhaps. It is up to you though, forums can also be useful, just my opinion.

I am currently researching for my thesis (equality in general, including gender equality, is my main research interest), and always found arming yourself with the facts is the best way to start. Regardless of what you decide, it's an interesting and often complex movement, especially when you read more about the different 'waves' of feminism.

NoMoreParades · 18/12/2016 01:34

Are you secretly an MRA Hannah dear??
