Well that's news to me

I've never even said one word to them about what my future plans are
Not one word

How else will you fund your hobby?

TiredMumToTwo · 14/12/2016 19:35

Sorry, Ibread the thread title and assumed you were 16 and still living at home?!

TiredMumToTwo · 14/12/2016 19:36

Sorry I read the thread title and assumed you were 16 and still living at home?!

LardLizard · 14/12/2016 19:36

What?

OP posts:
wowbutter · 14/12/2016 19:36

Does it matter?

It's fairly common for the stay at home mum to seek employment once the child is in school. Especially if they are reliant on benefits.

If you don't want to, don't. If you do, do.

Gene9 · 14/12/2016 19:37

What's it got to do with her? Hmm

Do what you like, does you DH/DP work?

Honestly, your call.

DoYouRememberJustinBobby · 14/12/2016 19:37

Announced to who?

ProudBadMum · 14/12/2016 19:38

I don't even know what's going on here Grin

LardLizard · 14/12/2016 19:38

One thing that really gets my back up is being told what I think or what I'm going to be doing

I don't discuss personal plans with them so they have no ideas what my plans are

OP posts:
LardLizard · 14/12/2016 19:39

Oh she just randomly announced it right out of the blue
Sitting there at her house
When other people were there too

She pipes up
So you'll be looking for in x then

OP posts:
Gene9 · 14/12/2016 19:40

Does your OH work OP?

LardLizard · 14/12/2016 19:40

Yes my husband works long hours on a job he loves that is well paid so we certainly so not get any benefits

OP posts:
MOIST · 14/12/2016 19:42

Would you not be bored out of your skull for 6 hours a day? What would you do?

PhilODox · 14/12/2016 19:42

If you went to work you could afford to do your hobby more. What's when with that?

itsbetterthanabox · 14/12/2016 19:43

Why would she think you wouldn't work?
Most people work. Not unreasonable for her to assume.

MOIST · 14/12/2016 19:43

Sorry. May have missed your point but I don't really get it.

Fairenuff · 14/12/2016 19:43

So you'll be looking for in x then

That's not announcing, that's making a supposition. A bit like asking a question. What did you reply to her comment?

bluebeck · 14/12/2016 19:44

Is there a huge back story? Otherwise it sounds like an innocent remark really where she has just assumed what you will be doing.

sonlypuppyfat · 14/12/2016 19:44

My DD started school 8 years ago and I'm still at home, I LOVE it. I've not been bored once

Standingonmytippytoes · 14/12/2016 19:44

I suppose it will get you some pin money... Hmm my mother asked me when I was going back to work when I was still in the labour ward holding my newborn. She also told me standard maternity leave was too long and surely they'll want me back before then.

guiltynetter · 14/12/2016 19:45

i don't see the big deal. most people probably assume that when their children are all at school they will resume work. just politely correct and move on

LardLizard · 14/12/2016 19:46

Oh no I do have many plans
One of which is having another baby

I personally do not see any reason why I should have to tell her what my plans are
Because she's the sort of person you don't like to share plans with

I did wonder did she throw that out there to test my reaction maybe ?

MissDuke · 14/12/2016 19:46

Op, you appear to have issues with your mother.... maybe speak to her rather than posting about her on mn?

MrsMattBomer · 14/12/2016 19:47

Is it not just obvious? I was climbing the walls to get back to work once our kids started nursery. I'd have been bored out of my skull for 6 hours a day, so it does sound a bit weird to me that you're suggesting you might not go back to work.

LardLizard · 14/12/2016 19:48

What would have. Even the best way to reply to this when she announced this

Perhaps I should have said oh yes and you will be doing the before and after school childcare and holiday care oh yeah and the school run and any sick days

Thanks that's great mum
