Be honest, would you be annoyed if I brought this for your child?

My friend's son has a birthday party coming up, we are kind of close (work together) and my son is in his class at school. I asked for gift ideas from his mum (so things he likes, so not exact gifts) and she said Finding Dory.

There's an amazing sale in the Disney store for a giant Large Dory Soft Toy! It's half price. Would it piss you off? it's not huge, but it's big enough, see, I love soft toys so it wouldn't bother me, but DS doesn't have a lot in his room so keeps them all in a corner.

Wouldn't piss me off but I just got my dd the big Hank that was on sale. Wouldn't mind him for myself.

No soft toys are fine, and the size doesn't sound like it would take over a house. What p*sses me off is inappropriate gifts like kids make up/ sexualised dolls. A Disney soft toy from a film that is a favourite sounds like a lovely idea. You've taken the time to get some inside information. Go for it!

Although there's always the chance he could hang onto it into his forties, do 'voices' for it, give it a personality and end up in a bizarre custody battle/love triangle with his future ex-girlfriend and his future wife....

How thoughtful of you to ask what someone would like. I think it's a lovely gift and I'd be made up if my ds was gifted one of these. Great price too!

It would mysteriously find its way to a charity shop within a few months. Even hospitals dont want them these days. They look nice if you like that sort of thing, but are not really for playing with so are rather pointless really.

I think its a waste of money.

I work with kids and i feel a soft toy like that in something that is a child's favourite is a complete winner!!!

..oh and for the record, i would be happy that my dd was happy rather than uggg, not another soft toy. [ and we have hundreds]

A year a go, I'd have been a bit nonplussed. But my 4 year old saw this in IKEA, and was adamant he wanted it for his 5th birthday. There was nothing else he asked for. So we got it. He ADORES "sharky". So I'd go for it.

We love soft toys in our house so it would be a very welcome addition! However I wouldn't spend that much on a present so I might feel uncomfortable receiving it for that reason. But the more giant soft toys the merrier! (I have bought each of my kids one of those giant soft toys - a different one each - for Christmas! Even the 13yr old! I'm so excited about it,probably more than they will be...!)

If you were a relative or close friend who knew how little space we have and who was ignoring my preference for smaller toys I would be annoyed with you. Otherwise I think I would be charmed by the gesture but would be thinking how to dispose of the gift.

Mine are teens now and past the age of soft toys, but looking back, I remembered asking my SIL to kindly stop buying soft toys for dd as they appeared to be taking over her room.
