We live in one of the little coloured seaside houses that have been mentioned upthread. Yes, people do sometimes photograph it but I really don't get what the problem is - it's not like they use those 1920s cameras with the really loud click, smashing flash bulb and light bright enough to see from space.... Confused

My childhood house was often part of a car treasure hunt.

They had to find the stone plaque saying when the house was built.

It was a summer thing and more amusing than annoying and was pre internet, instragram etc etc.

However I can see that it could become annoying and distracting.

Hopefully interest will die away and you'll be left in peace.

The 20-something thing makes me wonder if these kids are actually playing Pokemon or some other new-fangled game for the young 'uns

I think you can't really stop people taking photos of your house. It's the kind of tax you have to pay for living in a beautiful residence. Grin

AradiasDaughter · 07/12/2016 08:50

Maybe book a holiday to Maui and then you won't need to see them?

Tuktuktaker · 07/12/2016 09:00

Tee hee, BHOOP Grin
I'm guessing this is the OP's house, or just down the road from here Grin

"There's one particular street in London that literally has a constant queue of people taking pictures for Instagram..."

Portobello Road? Friends living there are considering ice buckets, too.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 07/12/2016 09:18

I think it's that pretty mews with the house with the pink door, Cote.

FrickOnAStick · 07/12/2016 09:21

There are loads of 'pretty house / mews / streets' accounts on Instagram. They are nice photos to scroll through and are sometimes quite inspiring from a design point of view if you have that style of house.

I can understand that it could feel quite intrusive if you own a frequently 'papped' home, though.

Toddlerteaplease · 07/12/2016 09:22

Is it that village that Japanese coach parties keep turning up at?

FrickOnAStick · 07/12/2016 09:22

LOL @ pinkplastic and her giant DH Grin

FreddoFrog · 07/12/2016 09:27

Do you live in Ramsey St, OP?

PootlewasthebestFlump · 07/12/2016 09:32

My dog once got ambushed by Japanese tourists on walkies and surrounded by people snap snapping her. She bloody loved it. She kept doing big smiles and comedy poses like sticking one leg out coquettishly and throwing a look over her shoulders. It was very Princess Di.

Apparently they don't have dogs like her in Japan. She's probably on the cover of Japanese Vogue and has started a new trend.

KERALA1 · 07/12/2016 09:35

My friend and her mum were parked outside the house of a list Hollywood star who lived in my old neighbourhood. Little tap on window - it was the film star who asked them very politely to move as she could t get her car out. They were Blush

FrickOnAStick · 07/12/2016 09:42

Kerala - do you think the A lister started a 'some tool is blocking my drive, what should I do?' thread on here Grin

KERALA1 · 07/12/2016 09:46

Probably on her famous lifestyle blog thing (bet you can guess who it is now). What was funny was their desperate scrambling that they had stopped for another reason than gawking and pretending they didn't recognise the a lister (who was nice in the circs) Grin

BitOutOfPractice · 07/12/2016 09:47

Tuktuk BHOOP sounds just that bit posher than BOOP Grin

OCSockOrphanage · 07/12/2016 09:50

My hanging baskets were all over one Japanese tour bus's photos a few years ago. They lined up and took pictures of each other between them. Xmas Hmm

coldcanary · 07/12/2016 09:56

We house sat for my IL's years ago and while nursing great big hangovers and lounging on the sofa we noticed half a dozen people outside the window having a good nosey in at us! It's a fairy picturesque farm in an AONB and the nosy bastards must have thought we we some kind of living exhibit. DH went out and gave them a bit of an earful and sent them on their way. This was pre Instagram thank god!

DramaInPyjamas · 07/12/2016 09:57

Do you live in the Home Alone mansion?

You must live somewhere known for something - I can't see lots of people actually queuing up just because you have an Instagram-pretty door

ShavenConnery · 07/12/2016 09:57

Possibly a house that was in a TV programme?
Here is a place to start looking, a map of london sitcom houses:

TrainsCanComeTrue · 07/12/2016 10:01

There is a Poke Gym outside my house. Has tailed off a bit.

DramaInPyjamas · 07/12/2016 10:01

I'm trying to think of famous houses I'd bother to queue up and see and can't think of any

I don't even think I'd bother to queue for the White House/Buckingham Palace/Disney Castle tbh
