Builder nicked my candle!

Hi I had a limited edition Jo Malone candle in my downstairs loo that had never been used and has been treasured since 2009.
We have builders working in the garden this week and have come in to use loo twice yesterday.
Noticed candle has disappeared and it was 100 percent there yesterday. Both builders are acting normal and friendly.
AIBU to feel rather miffed. Haven't said anything DH wants to but I am not so sure.

Help!

Ask Dh loudly if he's moved it while the builders are in earshot and watch for their reaction

I'd be very suprised if a builder knew a jo Malone candle would be worth money

Is this sort of attitude reserved solely for builders or other tradesmen as well!! My DH is a plumber and he certainly knows what a Jo Malone candle is.

To the poster who said a house build doesn't take 9 years: Took me 11. So there. Perhaps the Borrowers had a power cut and have got it?

Just ask them, I know tradesmen and I have a few in my family and they all have thick skin.

Please ask them or ask your husband to talk to them. It sounds like it's really bothering you and if you don't ask you'll never know. You don't have to accuse anyone of stealing, just ask if someone moved it or knocked it over by accident.

If people aren't burnin these candles then they should be taken by people who will, FREE the candles!
Why would you have a candle and not burn it, you pay extra for the smell of expensive candles and the long burn time and even burn. If you don't burn them you don't get the benefit and may as well have bought a value pack from ikea.

This is madness maiacam... get in the skip with a torch and check in there for the candle!

I have been in the skip and the outside bin and nothing I have checked the whole house (incase I am crazy and don't know it yet)

Do you know where the builder lives? Can you go round a have a deep sniff through the letter-box to see if he's robbed it?

Interestingly (not really) only one came in for a wee today the other didn't

You need to get another JM candle and cover it in that ink they use to mark banknotes - the thief will then have blue hands and you'll know
