To think blue lights are NOT Christmassy (light-hearted)

I have an irrational and completely unreasonable hatred of blue Christmas lights.

They look HORRIBLE! So cold, and so artificial. They remind me of being in an industrial freezer. Where there is possibly half a dead cow and a rampant serial killer.

Why would someone do this? WHY WHY WHY? Grin

Kudos to this woman Grin

SoupDragon · 08/12/2016 16:07

She needs even more lights. Possibly in blue.

shovetheholly · 08/12/2016 16:12

She needs my bordello-inspired Christmas tree, that's what she needs. Grin

I'm pretty sure I can redefine the word "common" for them (gah, I hate that word).

No soup, she needs every colour of the rainbow, a giant cock and some blingy animatronic jesus', maybe even one of those blinky net things that covers the roof. But under absolutely no circumstances must it be encouraged for her to use blue. Because. Blue lights.

Grin
Wookiecookies · 08/12/2016 16:26

That should have said, every OTHER colour of the rainbow. Xmas Wink

shovetheholly · 08/12/2016 16:27

Grin at wookie

I love the idea of a neon Jesus. Preferably with a cheesy smile.

I was walking down the road earlier and saw a very striking tree. It was entirely upright and had a metallic sheen to it. "Oh, how original, modern and sculptural" I thought.

Then I looked again and realised it was a real one still in its net. Grin

I think this one encapsulates the true meaning of Christmas. No cheesy smile though; but you do get guns...

Wow, I must have been off school for the chapter in the Bible where Jesus goes gangster.

What she needs is the MN Christmas Design Team.

shovetheholly · 08/12/2016 16:58

At least she made an effort.

Pmsl at Gangsta Jesus.

It would go well with this idea I spotted in House of Fraser.

Oooooh.... jesus with guns, now that I can work with! 😂

Wookiecookies · 08/12/2016 17:39

This has a certain festive edge to it... and most importantly, classy warm lights.

I am in 100% agreement. I also hate the stark white lights too, I prefer the yellowy white ones. Not festive at all, just cold and dull.

SoupDragon · 08/12/2016 18:19

Yellowy white, like Phil Mitchell's eyeballs.

MrsB168 · 08/12/2016 18:23

Agreed they're horrid. Too harsh and brash. We're on a new build development and the few first houses on it have these horrid blue lights, one with penguins, a polar bear and a reindeer and sleigh and the next with blue tree lights but warm white above the door. If you really want brash blue at least co-ordinate. I bet the woman in the sales office is not happy Xmas Grin

Bugs me especially when you're driving on a main road at night and you get a glimpse of the blue and prepare to move out of the way for the emergency services, then you realise it's Mr McTat with his crap lights.

KerrytheBerry · 08/12/2016 18:34

Agree....blue is shite! Cold, harsh & medical. Our neighbour has them - Xmas Hmm twat!

simiisme · 08/12/2016 18:36

Never knew there was warm white and cold white! Or that blue was common.
I'm learning so much.
No decorations up for us this year as we're going away, so that's one less thing for the neighbours to criticise :D

ridingsixwhitehorses · 08/12/2016 18:49

Yanbu

Bogeyface · 08/12/2016 19:57

Saw some teal coloured ones just now, they were very pretty. Nowhere near as harsh or ambulancey, but sadly still dont count as Xmassy :(

notangelinajolie · 08/12/2016 21:14

Watching the news. I see number 10 has blue lights this year.

ItShouldHaveBeenJingleJess · 08/12/2016 21:24

angelina. I guess they couldn't really go for red....

soup. Yellowy white like Phil Mitchell's eyeballs. Grin

Wookiecookies · 08/12/2016 21:25

OMG angelina thats it. Fuck 2016, I'm done.

awayinamazda · 08/12/2016 23:19

'They remind me of being in an industrial freezer. Where there is possibly half a dead cow and a rampant serial killer.'

I think you may have a few issues, which it may help to talk through with a good friend ;-D? Particularly the half dead cow aspect!
Blue fairy lights make me think of lovely icicles on a bright, cold day with a blue sky :-D

FrostyLeaves · 08/12/2016 23:25

Op I agree.

I like the colour blue but not for Christmas decorations or hair.

I am even a little suspicious of blueberries..
