To think blue lights are NOT Christmassy (light-hearted)

I have an irrational and completely unreasonable hatred of blue Christmas lights.

They look HORRIBLE! So cold, and so artificial. They remind me of being in an industrial freezer. Where there is possibly half a dead cow and a rampant serial killer.

Why would someone do this? WHY WHY WHY? Grin

The tree lights MUST be warm white for me. Anything else does give me a headache. Genuinely. A couple of years ago i decided to try a change and DCs and i put 2 sets of coloured on the tree. 2 days later i stripped the tree and replaced them with the old soft white ones!

We have blue and white outside though Grin
(Although never flashing. Hate flashing lights inside or out.)

SirChenjin · 06/12/2016 15:40

Absolutely agree OP - they look cold and soulless, and they burn my retina. Horrible things. Coloured or warm white - it's the only way.

notangelinajolie · 06/12/2016 16:07

Ugggh! Blue lights should be banned. They are always the ones left on the supermarket shelf. Says it all really.

littlewoollypervert · 06/12/2016 16:11

But what about the fuckers that mix cold white with warm white? Put them in the stocks and throw baubles at them, I say.

littlesallyracket · 06/12/2016 16:20

littlewoollypervert

Mixing of cold and warm white makes me feel quite murderous too.

Also: when people have those 'icicle' lights but the strip is only long enough to go along two-thirds of the front of their house or the bay window or whatever, so there's a gap at one end. SO MUCH RAGE.

Disraeli · 06/12/2016 16:24

I hate blue lights. Our neighbours opposite have them outside their house, flashing. I keep thinking there's ambulances going past.

SirChenjin · 06/12/2016 16:34

I quite like a mix of cold and warm white lights - saw it on an outside tree today and it looked purdy

WhataHexIgotinto · 06/12/2016 16:36

The house across the road from me has pale blue icicle lights along their house and they look quite pretty. I hate multicoloured lights.

ninnypoo · 06/12/2016 16:51

Blue lights make me think there's an ambulance about every time I catch them in my peripheral.

Upanddownroundandround · 06/12/2016 17:00

All this thread made me do is think 'Oooo I like blue lights. Might go and buy some for outside.'Grin

There will be 3 ghosts visiting you tonight you evil Christmas bastard.

3luckystars · 06/12/2016 17:13
Smile Joking!!! That was as harsh as a blue light on my eyeballs. I was only joking. Merry Christmas!!
Chloe1984 · 06/12/2016 17:15

Wilko's sell very good quality warm LED lights, if anyone is struggling to find any.

Wookiecookies · 06/12/2016 17:23

I got some decent warm lights from home bargains. Not only are they naice and warm they dont burn deep into your soul and they are led bulbs so last ages. They are also battery powered with a timer. Its great! Got them on the stairs wrapped around a long wreath thingy (no idea what they are called!) and they automatically come on for a set amount of time.

I was at Elvis' Graceland at Christmas and the mansion, every tree, all boundaries, etc etc are decked out in millions of blue lights - as in .....I'll Have a Blue Christmas Without You.....
It was tackily fabulous.

littlesallyracket · 06/12/2016 17:54

I might start telling children that Father Christmas doesn't visit houses with blue lights on them.

If they throw enough tantrums as a result, their parents will probably take them down.

Wookiecookies · 06/12/2016 18:19

Oooh... I like your sneaky underhanded tactics Sally GrinXmas Wink

TowerRavenSeven · 06/12/2016 18:23

I love a combination af blue and green or those really bright blue ones. But the bluish white ones are ghastly and remind me of an office from the 80's.

hollyisalovelyname · 06/12/2016 18:49

I just wish the lead in from the plug to the first light was longer than 5 metres- I need 8 metres Sad.

Igneococcus · 06/12/2016 19:04

People a few houses up the street have blue lights and they are projecting some swirly pattern against the gable wall of their house. I would go and take a picture but it's raining.

bumsexatthebingo · 06/12/2016 19:12

I guess a very pale icy blue isn't so bad but I don't like the bright blue ones. Either white or full on multi coloured tat for me.

3luckystars · 06/12/2016 19:18

Probably impossible but can you get a 3 metre extension lead.
also can the next person get a video of the swirling lights. It may be a message. Be careful.

user1471545174 · 06/12/2016 19:28

I loved them when they were new (2000?) and for a few years after that but I'm inclining to a warm white and green theme this year Smile
